Man Utd defender Luke Shaw: "Not good enough, we really struggled, we couldn't get hold of the ball and when we didnt have the ball we weren't agressive enough. We didnt put them under any pressure.

"It maybe looked like an easy game for them. A disappointing performance and result. We didnt have many options on the ball and we weren't on the front foot.

"We have to put more pressure on them, we have to have intensity. Us players, we have been here a long time, maybe tonight we struggled, I didnt think we were all there together. You look at the players we have, we have unbelievable quality but sometimes quality is not enough.

"We need to bring the intensity and more motivation. Inside the dressing room, we know what we want but out on the pitch we need to give 100%. To win these types of games we all need to be 100% committed. It is tough and disappointing.

"One thing I will say is Phil Jones should be proud of himself. He has been criticised for years, and has gone through a lot, but he is so pfrssional and he has trained heard anmd he was phenomenal. He was exceptional, I am very happy for him and he deserves it."
In the full version he also mentions how you could see we lacked intensity and aggression about winning the ball back from the very first minute. He’s spot on. Our front four were all absolutely awful out of posesssion (three of them were also awful in possession). You can fully understand why he was raging.

‘’us players, we have been here for a long time…’’

I am confused at this point.

Yes, a long time underperforming in 5th/6th place and winning nothing. Some have overstayed their welcome by many years. What’s he getting at?

The players need to understand that as a starting XI we do not have enough quality even against the likes of Wolves.

Stop pinning everything on motivation and energy.

Looking for the answers...
He could have said almost anything other than what he did. Talking about togetherness, making sly digs at his teammates, the coach. It's so far off the standard Sir Alex set.
So are the bloody performances mate. What else could he have said….? He said they’re not all together which is evident in the performances. Saying the manager can bring more ideas, I think that’s quite a vague answer so as to say hopefully the new manager can bring ideas to turn it around (as anyone should expect him to anyway). He didn’t throw anyone under the bus.

That says a lot to me. However I was surprised Cavani and Matic played two games so close together. Ronaldo is no spring chicken. Maybe we are looking at a younger striker.

Interesting. I wonder when they stopped being together…it’s definitely a hard one to figure out.
I think the breaking point for some of them was Ole getting sacked and losing people like Carrick. Some were very close to the manager and Carrick has been at the club a long time.

Bruno (although he wasn't playing well towards the end under Ole) seems to have changed his demeanour in a big way since Ole went. Almost like some of them aren't forgiving others for underperforming and getting him the sack. Not to mention none of them seem to have bought into Ralf's plan.

Right through to the end the players were still giving their all for Ole and 'playing for him' so the turning point and the 'divide' if there is one seems to have come about when the manager was sacked.

We really don't have a single forward that is good out of position and Ralf hasn't managed to change them as of yet. Only Bruno works well against the ball but he's all over the place too more often than not.

After seeing the interview, he wasn't lying to be honest, perhaps too candid and honest about it all, but he said it like it is. We need a purge of sorts and a true cultural reset. If there is a split the noncompliance parts need to be excised.

I mean, what he says is fine. We criticise them for being robots and saying "we have to come back strong next week" and all the usual stuff, but maybe occasionally it is good to see some honesty. He's only saying what is evident anyway.

The problem is Luke, you are not exactly setting much of an example yourself after very much coming off the gas after a good season.

At least he's showing a bit of desire off interview, if not on the pitch.

It's the same Rangnick said the past three or four games. Still can't get it done.
God I would love it if we started from scratch with some young, talented and hungry players instead all of these prima donnas. Not talking about Shaw here
As much as we laugh at them, that’s exactly what Arsenal have done but it takes time and patience and they’re gradually building back with a young, hungry team.

Disagree. Players stopped playing under Ole and Bruno had the angry face look for many weeks prior to Ole being sacked.

Good honest interview. Be nice when our players aren't apologising on such a regular basis.

Some of these theories are pretty wild even for Dan Brown. Gonna bookmark this thread for future reading.

January 2018 is when the shit really started to go south. Mourinho needs to release a book already.
I love Pogba. But can’t help but think him winning the war Vs Mourinho and then having Ole bend over for him made others lose respect for the power of the manager

The British lads vs the Portuguese fellas. The I can’t wait to get out are the third party (Donny; Lingard; Martial; Pogba)

Toxic cowards all over the squad, have all the answers for the cameras and Instagram.

Luke Shaw has won nothing and has given no reason for us to think he has solutions

If there's splits happening i guarantee it's winners like Ronaldo, Varane, cavani and fernandes wondering what the feck is happening with average players like awb, maguire and rashford at United
Those players might have the right attitude, but does not mean they have the energy levels for the PL. Rashford is a big worry to me. He plays like he has concrete boots on. Maguire has been terrible this season, he was never brilliant, but his form has dropped unbelievably. AWB is a good defensive tackler, but need coaching about positioning. We have to make our mind up if Greenwood is a wide forward or a central striker. If the former we do need a striker as Cavani obviously wants out, there are too many rumours. Is it Ralf who is keeping him or the ones on high saying he cannot let him go as nobody will be coming in?

You know exactly which players are in which group - it's just a shame that both groups are underperforming in unison

Good on him for being honest.

Incredible that people seem more angry at him for saying it, than the issues he is talking about.
Problem is he is a huge part of the problem. Maybe once this season he might block a cross into the box, there's at least always hope.

Of course it did.

Honestly if we were going to back Pogba then we should have mutually parted with Mourinho in the summer and everyone could have saved face but instead we let it descend into chaos knowing everyone was pulling in a different direction. We are so badly run it's actually hilarious.

His post match interview after the Wolves fiasco was telling. He also praised Jones, rightly so. Had a very slight dig at the manager about "new ideas".

Its clear the dressing room is split.
I don't think it is about split in dressing room. Never was. Some players are clearly not there to play for the team. They are there for their egos and are only there for money. The sooner we get rid of those pretenders the better. They thrown past managers under bus and they will keep doing that until club starts fining players for every lost game.

I don't think it was - I watched it live. He said we arent playing like we are together and working hard enough. He said we have so much quality but we dont put in enough effort. He said because it's a long week now before the next game maybe the manager can continue with some ideas.

Sky then tried to run a narrative of him blaming the manager, and some saps are falling for it.
Agreed, sky even had the quote “maybe the manager can bring some ideas” but Luke actually said “more ideas”. Subtle omission but changes the feel of the message.

They’d clearly stopped playing for Ole too. We lost 4-1 to Watford…the divide in the camp happened long before Ole went.

Happening all season, the balance has been awful. Ronaldo just tipped it to breaking point, from our senior attacking players outside of maybe Lingard, DVB and occasionally Cavani we just don't have the effort levels necessary. The midfield was very poor today, but look at the options the front players were giving them, expect it from Cavani and Ronaldo they are near done, but Greenwood and Sancho, 2 young men in their physical prime, just not good enough.

What I would give for a Ji Sung Park, a Tevez in our current attack.
