Don’t talk nonsense pops

would you want to uproot your family if you’re told you’ll probably just be backup?

he can be backup in a bigger shop window and probably get game time in cups at United
It's 6 months in the south of France GB, we're not talking about committing to 5 years in the Aussie outback.

If he doesn't think he has a chance of breaking into the Bordeaux team I'd be very surprised to see him in a Utd team.

I'd love to see him recover his career, and I think he has the ability to, but if he's interested in doing that he'd be far better off in Bordeaux than Manchester IMO.

I really hope Murtough has got big plans for the summer because boy is our squad looking thin all of a sudden. Would be a great achievement for Ralf to land 4th at this point.
Why because we’ve loaned a bunch of players? Let’s trim this stupidly over bloated squad which had led to so much discontent within the squad due to a lack of playing time.

Crazy that United still pay Jones and Mata to do nothing when clearly both have zero interest in football.

A team that is shipping goals badly, can’t guarantee him more than sitting on the bench? They’re not exactly inspiring confidence are they?
I think he made the right decision personally. I expect we will see him get some minutes at United

Where do you stand on us guaranteeing playing time to signings then? Assume you think it's a reasonable demand?

I think it’s a reasonable demand for someone trying to get back to playing after a career threatening injury, no?
Not at all. We as a club refuse to guarantee anyone gametime as you don't know a players form til they play.

Jones has barely played football in recent years so how can any club understand his quality. A massive injury often makes a player much worse.

He's played like once in 2 years, who can guarantee him anything on the back of that, and what makes him think he's in any position to make demands in the first place?

IMO he should be glad someone is giving him an opportunity to get his career on track, have the confidence that he can break into a team shipping goals and get regular games there.

It just seems like a weak excuse to me, happy to have 4 CBs ahead of him at Utd and maintain the status quo.

If you want to do the maths, PSG paid him ~£400k/week in wages and paid £150m for him in 2018. They are losing him on a free 4 years later. So thats 208 weeks worth of wages which equates to just under £700k a week for his transfer fee if you spread it out. So PSG could be said to have paid £1.1m / week for Mbappe over the course of his contract. I've ignored any bonuses etc because he will be getting those at RM as well on top of his salary.

There is a reason that free agent salaries are insane compared to those who are being transferred for money being paid to a club.

Aubameyang being in Barcelona before the transfer can go through could be the international version of Peter Odemwingie...

Yeah, it's hard not to agree with this to be honest.

He's spent the last 10/15 years injury ravaged living in Manchester and Blackburn. If nothing else, you'd take the offer to get paid to play in Bordeaux just for a change in scenery.

We will never know what’s been said. I just don’t like the insinuation that he’s lazy or just happy to take the money. It’s a stupid narrative. Phil Jones is one of the most humble people in our squad and from what I read one of the most hardworking. Who are we to question what he choices he makes if he’s doing what he feels is right?
