If Chelsea go in for Rice don't think we will stand a chance.
It seems like both United and Chelsea have Rice and Tchouameni on their lists. Tchouameni is gonna be difficult to sign due to the competition, so I can see Chelsea wrapping up a deal for Rice, due to the player's affiliation with the club.

Is Tchouameni the lad at Monaco? We will get some interesting spellings of his name.

If the club has their heart set on Declan Rice and he goes to Chelsea it will be hilarious. Its pretty obvious we need to find out without uncertainty that he would want to join us even if Chelsea’s come in and we don’t have CL to offer, otherwise please don’t waste the summer chasing pipe dreams.

You are asking a lot of our brains trust. If Rice goes early we have the whole summer to negotiate for the others on our list. It would just be like us to be strung along for the whole window.

This is the most likely scenario and I fear that by the time our brainless idiots see it all the credible alternatives will have been snapped up by more serious and proper Football Clubs.

It's quite sad that our management hasn't learned from the Fabregas, Di Maria and Pogba sagas that have humiliated at hurt the club at various juncture. It's quite disheartening that we also chose to sacrifice the rest of the season on the promise of a big summer when we all know that we don't even have the drive to do the necessary multiple deals we'd need to compete.

Dead on transfer if there ever was one. I wouldn't want us to spend crazy money on him anyway. He's a great player but not worth the 80m+ it will take to get him. Plus, we don't need to spend such a large chunk of our budget on one player when we need to strengthen several other positions.

Luke Shaw supposedly chose us over Chelsea despite being a Chelsea fan. Not sure it’s always about who you supported as a kid.

Hopefully that will be the way Ralf is thinking and the likes of Murtough will listen to him as he seems to respect his judgement.

Ramsey chose Arsenal over us, believe he was a United fan. Carragher was an Everton fan, it goes on and on really. Who a player supported as a kid means very little.

Declan Rice is Chelsea's signing if they want it, according to various reports I've read.

What we should avoid suffering from is tunnel vision and broaden our horizons for a defensively strong midfielder if we miss out on the more talked about names.

So if we appoint a coach who wants to implement a play-style, where he wants the team to impose themselves on the opposition and maintain a high line with and with out the ball. Then the most important attributes are gonna be technical first and athletic abilities second, to thwart attacks high up the pitch in isolation in defensive transition.

So missing out on Tchouameni, Rice, Kamara etc isn't a problem. Because you can still create a well oiled machine, by signing players who fit the profile of a DM, who are strong in defending 'large spaces'.

Rangnick mentioned signing first and second contract players to build a team in one of his interviews before he took the United job. And I think that method is the correct method to build a team and play-style. We've signed up a number of first contract players in the last few years and a few of those players are likely gonna get a opportunity in the first team in the coming weeks/months. But unfortunately we don't have a DM who is ready for minutes at this time, and that DM should be targeted imo with a clear criteria of targeting second contract players of high potential. And that's basically what Leipzig, Ajax and Leicester have done in the last 5 or 6 years.

So not signing the well known players isn't the issue, but rather signing a player who fits the profile of a head coach/team that wants to impose their game via a high compact block, is the way to go. So the player could be a 20/21 year old playing for a unfashionable club in Spain, France, Germany, Italy etc, but identifying and signing that player is what's important.

Declan Rice's previous affiliation to Chelsea doesn't mean he'll definitely go back there, we don't know how he feels about the club or if the departure was amicable.

Over a year old but still.....

Declan Rice 'asks two England teammates' about transfer amid Man Utd interest

I remember back when we were linked with Pogba returning, a lot of the CAF didn't think he'd ever re-sign

Bit surprised by that one. Had talent but always felt his application was lacking. Best of luck to him.
Inconsistent as feck whenever I've watched him. Doesn't help that he hasn't grown an inch taller since he's joined, but think he could kick on with a side willing to be patient.

So you're saying if we throw wads of cash at Rice, he will come to United too? That's just great.

On a more serious note, was Chelsea even interested in Shaw at the time? Yes, there were reports but we all know how that goes when United is looking at a player. Did they bid and present an offer to Shaw?

We were also less shit back then and only a year from winning our last title. Our stock has seriously fallen since and high wages seems to be our only selling point these days.

That's an excellent move for him. I've had hopes of him having a decent pro career at a relatively high level, and this is a great start for him. The onus is now on him to impress Gladbach and establish himself in the first-team squad.

Didn't Mourinho essentially say it as it was? They wanted Shaw, but wouldn't breach their wage structure to bring him in - so effectively saying he went to United for the money?

It's been quoted he was on a 6 figure weekly upon signing.

Laporta: “We are going to try to present Aubameyang this week. Dembele? He has something signed with another club”.
Despite no news on Dembélé agreeing to terms with another club, Laporta's trying to tell everyone otherwise.

EDIT: In English

I read from a Madrid ITK that someone (possibly his agent) leaked to Mario Cortegana (the journalist) the trip of Juni Calafat, the chief scout, to Monaco first and then to Brazil.
Right now it seems that Marca and Madrid are not close friends, that they did not know anything about the interview and that they suspect that his agent wants to create another Neymar case

Here I was thinking that this was business as usual from Marca. It makes sense, though; they'd rather not pay a huge amount of money like they did for both Vinícius Jr. and Rodrygo (despite Vini working out real well). With that said, Endrick's already getting incredibly hyped up. Even without this interview and the scout leak, Palmeiras was going to demand a relatively huge fee.

The key here is that Süle himself prefers a move abroad. At this moment, only Chelsea's interest remains, but as we get closer to the summer, more clubs will start looking at Süle.
I don't think Dortmund can match offers from other clubs who are supposedly interested in him and if I remember correctly there were messages revealed by his agent that showed he was eager to play abroad to the point of considering Tottenham. And having said that I'm not even sure it would be smart business from Dortmund's perspective either.

But it's a funny thought.
