It's strange how I feel almost no attachment to United anymore. The unlikeable squad, clueless board, the owners, stupid player recruitment, bad manager choices time after time, the Greenwood saga, the unproportionate focus on sponsorship deals etc.
Yep. It's all pretty vomit-inducing. There's really nothing you can get behind - it's just a shower of unlikeable wankers playing football badly for a low-rent advertising agency.

Chuck it all in the bin and start again.

Groundhog day. Certain players doing the same dumb shit.

Referee was appalling.
Ref was great, he had a terrific game. He was particularly good at ignoring Southampton fouls whilst falling over himself to book us at every opportunity.
I look forward to seeing him ref us again on Tuesday.

Ronaldo is a horrible footballer. Playing with 10 men every game. Does feck all defensively. Does feck all in link up. Does feck all in hold up. Gives it away constantly. Can't even get shots off anymore. Just fecking bench him until he retires. He's done and he's useless on the pitch.
On his showing in recent games it is hard to argue with this.
How on earth do we bring in Sancho, Ronaldo and Varane and become worse. Our transfer policy and overall football strategy is non-existent. I seriously fear facing Atletico Madrid in this state. Actually more so than at any time under Ole.

I thought we might sneak in top 4 but we aren’t going anywhere near. This season is basically done.

Hope next manager burns this squad to ground and rebuild. I wont care if none of the players play next season for United.

And Ronaldo is finished at top level. He might still get few good performance here and there, but he is done playing at consistent level.

I've never felt this down and apathetic about Utd.

We're a complete shadow of what we used to be.

We're completely average.

In reality we're a few players off which is tough to take given the investment.

A manager needs to be given time and be allowed to release/sell Ronaldo, Maguire and Shaw.

We can't have 3 or 4 luxury players who don't defend.

First teamers we need to keep are De Gea, Varane, Dalot, Telles, Pogba, McTominay, Fernandes, Sancho, Rashford and Elanga.

We simply can't start 3 or 4 players who aren't disciplined. Need more mobile hard workers in the team.

If Pogba goes we need Tchouameni. When Ronaldo and Cavani are let go we need a Haaland.

Martial
Lingard
Ronaldo
Cavani
Shaw
Maguire

All have to go ASAP.

Replace them with a striker, winger who can defend, CDM, CB and LB. Only then do we stand a chance of winning anything.

How do they keep doing this again and again? Three games in a row. It's like someone is showing me reruns of a bad sitcom episode.

How are we this bad in terms of fitness? Southampton pressed till the last where our players stopped running. Ronaldo can't run. Rashford was just jogging. Dalot, Shaw and Maguire too aggressive and end up out of position consistently, not fast enough to get back. The moment McT went off I knew the game was gone because it meant we'd depend on Bruno trying a hollywood ball to create a chance. I don't even know what to change. Don't play Ronaldo in the league and play Rashford for one half only I guess. And don't play Maguire. Just don't play him. Play Jones ahead of him.

I'd like to stop watching this shit, but we'll all be back again next time. I'll be preparing myself for a loss so that the inevitable draw will feel better.

Fast start, no show second half, brittle defence, panic when we conceded. Basically sums up the season. Imagine when we start playing the top teams again soon with this shower of s….

I wouldn't say that makes United the worst in the league, so much as the worst of the big clubs. That's almost indisputable at this point, yes. Although for what it's worth, Arsenal have been mediocre this year, but haven't spent nearly as much.
We've been worse than Arsenal in my opinion. Every other team seems to have a system. We just don't. If you watched a full game of every team in the league, you'd be hard pressed to find a team playing worse than us. I'm not even exaggerating.

Shambolic United, how can so much be wrong with one club?
Maguire should never be captain, prats like Lingard are bought back into the fold,we have a 34 or a 37 year old leading the line  .

We never bought in a holding midfielder in a transfer window when there were actually a couple available.
I honestly thought Ralf would shake things up.German efficiency my arse, he hasn't got the bottle to make the big calls.

What a fecking mess this season has turned into.

I had long been of the thought process we have the talent we just need a proper manager and coach to organize the team.

Changed my mind in the last few weeks. Too many issues with too many players. I'll try and list some here.

No strikers.
Wide players don't work hard enough
No decent CM
No RB
Need a CB
Need a GK

And then the team issues:
Don't work hard enough.
Can't press.

On top of that, fundamental issues with ownership and board.

The future is bright. Haha. This might be the lowest point since SAF retired. Cuz with other situations I thought we could get better. Here I don't see how.

A positive for me out of the same old depressing nonsense was Sancho, he is growing. Apart from that I am fed up.

Ronaldo isn't anywhere close to good enough these days to be the central striker for a side chasing the top four. He just hasn't got it anymore.

The wide players are a major issue with their refusal to track back at any point. RR identified this problem immediately as he spoke of utilizing a wing-back system shortly after he arrived. It's a shame we lack the personnel to make it work.

There are fundamental issues with our side that will take more than a tactical genius to fix. Worrying.

I haven't criticised him much up to now but i think Ronaldo is a problem really. One among many but probably the primary one at this point.
It doesn't help that hes playing every minute of every match but this team isn't set up to deliver chances to one player who does very little outside the opposition box. Kind of the opposite where theres a lot of goals spread around this group of players but no so much in the way of chance creation or being humble and doing the extra work for the star player (which is probablly fair enough, 37 year old Ronaldo isn't that much of a star).
I guess we have no real alternative to him. We'll need to find one before the end of the season as i cant see him managing every single game till the end of the season.

Fergie would use far worse players to change things in games... You could bring on Telles early to change things down that left, bring on Lindelof to play out balls from the back instead of whatever Maguire was doing, bring on Elanga earlier, bring on Mejbri in the centre of the park, bring on Mata instead of fecking "I couldn't give a shit" Lingard.

Changing games doesn't just mean having to bring on attackers.... and yeah our squad isn't great, but I mean, we chose to let VdB and Martial go, so now use the feckin' players we have an actually do something, instead of watching the eleven on the pitch stagnate.

This "we don't have any players" excuse is just that... an excuse.
yep It’s a shit excuse.Teams with far less talent make more subs than us.

Who do you drop ronaldo for? Martial is gone, greenwood is done and only Elanga and cavani are possibilities. Cavani looks as done as ronaldo and i think elanga would be better taking rashfords spot.
Yeah, that's what I was alluding to in saying we haven't exactly got an abundance of options. You can't keep playing Ronaldo like this though. He's a detriment at the moment.

Even since Ronaldo joins, tactics was changed to accommodate his game. There is no quick 1-2 passes, Bruno dropping deeper. The tactics are static, every coach in EPL knows how to play us. I hope a new manager can revitalise the squad. Ronaldo will definitely leaves since there is no champions league. I wish for a ruthless manager like Alex who has an eye for talent and talent for building a team. How he sold Ruud, Stam, Ince, Beckham and others yet we keep winning and winning. That's a manager I want.

I would add Rashford to the list. Telles and McT should not be first teamers. It will be much more difficult to bring in better players without CL football.

The only way we get top 4 now is if the other teams play consistently poor like we do.

- Rashford must be dropped
- Ronald also but this is harder because Cavani is rarely available
- Pogba was class for 60 minutes and then tired
- Why was Shaw so slow with the ball today?
- Dalot was pretty good except for his crossing
- If we had a Romeu or similar player we would be so much better

I'm starting to doubt RR....sorry.

We have a bunch of lazy players which doesn’t help. Southampton had a days less rest and ran 5km more than United today. That’s really not acceptable.

Answered your own question there. There was no "strategy" in bringing Ronaldo in. Emotional signing.

As a resident of Toronto, Canada, hone of Toronto FC, I still do not understand why Chris Armas was hired as assistance (looks like his main assistant). He didn't even last half a season as head coach here. His record was 1-2-8.

Did he call the club and say, "Hi. This Chris Armas. I'm a terrible coach and need a job." "Okay. You're hired."

Can the manager take of ronaldo without a scene being created and then being swamped and slaughtered by droves of ronaldo fans ?

Fergie would have benched half the team and played the kids but rangnick or any other manager will get sacked in a month if they did that.

Same as under Ole, we're not able to control games and until we improve in midfield area properly, that'll be the case.

Shame about chances we had today but a draw is fair result, we never did enough to win, Southampton deserved a point.

It's 2 points dropped and hard to look forward to the rest of the season. I guess games against Atletico could be interesting, CL nights and all that but even though they're not great this season either, they are still much more experienced in CL than us.

Had faded towards the end of the 1st half today and I feared it would be a sign of things to come second half.

When things go stale in a match you look to the bench to provide an impact the subs today was a teen learning the ropes and Lingard whom should have be offloaded years ago. The lack of strength in depth is ridiculous.
