So how was the game actually? I didn't get the chance to see it.
I heard that with better finishing Leeds could've had 3-4 more, same for us. Also, was Ronnie that shite?
Controlled the first half. Should have been 3 nil at that point because Ronnie missed an open goal, although the ball was slightly behind him.

Usual start then in the second half losing control. Leeds first was just sheer luck. Then a second. Then we wrestled back control. Leeds had a few half chances. Elanga missed a good chance, but made up for it, although i think he was lucky as it went clean through the keeper legs.

We subbed Ronaldo and then scored two fast and easy goals, got the 3 points, pressing was better, everything was better. Food for thought for the next games.

Put Rashford up top with Sancho and Elanga, easy decision. Or Bruno as a false 9.

Sancho MOTM.
I must have missed the 5th goal?

Really good performance all round, given the conditions. It certainly gives the lie to all those moaning that the players don't care. There was one team that wanted it more, especially the last twenty minutes, and they weren't in white!

Did think Elanga coming on before Rashford was an interesting one.

Thanks, that's good to hear.

Saw the score, then the min by min report and knew the match thread would be prime entertainment, which it was

Thoroughly entertaining game. Had a bit of everything. Midfield was pretty cohesive along with the centre halves. Sancho was a joy to watch, just drifted through defenders multiple times.

It really was a game that had everything. I don't think I've enjoyed a proper old school match like that for a long long time and to make it sweeter I watched it with a Leeds fan

@westmeath I remember you mentioning the Leeds fans behaving like animals the last few times you'd seen them play, I said I hoped things had changed since they were last in the premier League but given what happened today (4 players struck by coins? Elanga and Maguire?) I guess I was wrong. Glad we keep smashing them, long may it continue, but surely the FA has to do something about it, apparently we aren't the only side that's had multiple projectiles flung on the pitch at a Leeds game, and short of fines / partial stadium closures I'm not sure what they COULD do, but if players are getting injured by it then well...

Dirty Leeds had 6 yellows.. Shouldve been 10. We shouldve had a pen. On another day, wouldnt have conceded any..

Was an easy game.. made interesting by the freak weather and the ref not stamping his authority for a long time and letting things slide.

Leeds really need to sort their defence out.. they are so so open.
We won mate. No need for any analsys . We bit Leeds

This is one of those games where the conditions make it impossible to judge any of the players properly, regardless of whether they played well or badly.

The only thing to take away from this game is 3 points and some extra confidence for the Atletico match. Everything else has an asterisk next to it.

Responded well to conceding those two goals, however need to stop putting ourselves in that position. Their second goal was so reminiscent of Coutinho against Villa.

I fully agree on everything, except Rashford up top.

Rashford is an atrocious finisher when composure is required (we're talking on average, just in case someone decides to show me a replay from 5 years ago) and he has never really looked good playing by himself upfront.

I'd rather have Bruno as false 9.

Ban the people doing it? It baffles me as to why you're allowed to go into a stadium and throw shit at opposition players and little to nothing is done about it. Ban those idiots and it will stop fast.

That foul on Bruno, had it been anywhere else on the pitch, would have been called.

But Leeds had their tails up so the ref basically bottled it because he didn't want to upset the crowd.

Really poor refereeing but it will be forgotten.

Stirring performance and great to see us keep our heads at 2-2 but there's still some issues to be resolved. Why did we look so much better when Fred and Elanga came on?

I missed this match but we always seem to score 800 against this lot. Good stuff.

They’ve always been a breed apart. I’m kinda glad they’re back though. Especially when they’re a handy 6 points.

Nice 90s vibe, decent performance apart from shitting ourselves after the fluke goal.

Sancho is great.

What a game, what a fekin, crazy game! Proper derby, atmosphere was electric, you could sense it.
Our lads were well up for it and good on them cause Leeds fans seem like a vile bunch. We had a good 1st half and properly deserved the lead. Controlled the game and everything was going great. Then those 10, 15 minutes of madness where they really threatened as long as 2 goals scored of course.
What I like though it seemed the teams heads didn't go down, they continued to push and attack and got rewarded.

Sancho was absolutely fantastic, left, right, center, flicks, dribbles, passes, shots. That was a player we wanted to buy. Pogba had a great game too, faded a bit in the 2nd but overall a fantastic game, was like a 2nd coming of Zidane out there.
What about Fred, came in, smashed the goal and changed the game.. Happy about Elanga, after that miss he made up for it with a nicely taken goal, loved the celebration too.
Special mention to Maguire, a corner goal and at that place too. Stood his ground and made it count. Captain performance.

Great game to watch as a neutral, I really enjoyed it. But anyone trying to judge performances from players or manager best forget this game as conditions made it impossible.

Bissaka had more touches than any other player apparently. He played very well tonight and seemed to enjoy the pitch and the possibilities for a sliding tackle

There was definitely some commitment there today which I have missed for the last many games. The conditions were difficult with the rain and the wind, and I think the ref was taking a huge risk with his line today.
Delighted with the 3 points, the performance and that we got out of there without any injuries.

Is Maguire finally getting his confidence back? Just watch the 2-0. It's just a little detail but he seems to have the confidence back to head it to a player of us instead of just clearing it anywhere. This is one of the things i hated. He is so strong in the air but so often just cleared it to the opponents whitout looking, even if he had all the time in the world. Today he finally made a controlled header to Lindelöf - and look - we go on to score a good goal.

Pretty good game bar the shock after the freak goal of them. Made it too hard for ourselves again. Beautiful flicks from Pogba and Bruno.

Nope. He would expect any one of three defenders nearby to have dealt with it.
Why would he expect the defenders, facing his goal, to deal with a ball closer to him than them?

I know some on here won't have a word said against DDG, but you have to face the reality that, apart from shot stopping, he's one of the worst goalies in the league. Needs upgrading badly.

Again, with a proper midfield we dominate this game. The structure, positioning and anticipation of our midfielders may be some of the poorest in the league. We have decent attacking options, particularly Bruno and Sancho ( add Pogba's creativity as well), but we don't have the opportunities some of our rivals have to destroys because we struggle so much at recovering the ball or controlling the game. Our defence has to face more attacks and our attackers have less of the ball due to either us being attacked or the ball not being provided to them quickly enough to be dangerous.

Of course he would, he always expects the defenders to deal with everything that isn't on the goal line. The problem is the defenders thinking they have a 2022 goalkeeper behind them when they've got one that would be better suited to 1932. It costs us time and time and time again but it's never Daves fault.

Good win but to put into context Leeds are awful at the moment and without 3 of their best players. We should be allowing teams a way back after we take the lead.
To put it into proper context we fecking battered the disgusting sheep shagging Munich-ing cnuts in their cup final in their own back yard and they were bloody lucky it wasn't about 8.

Leeds are falling apart again & it was a great day out. There's your fecking context.

Maguire is often guilty but it's a criticism I'd have of the team as a whole - we make "blink and you'll miss it" interceptions; the ball always ends up back with an opposition player first.
