But isn't the sanctions so he has no benefit from the sale supposedly? So what benefit is it to him now to sell if he doesn't make money?
So that he can then go to court, force the Govt to hand it over saying it’s illegal for them to not give him his cash.

If he sits on it, there is nothing to contest.

Forgive my Whataboutism.

The Uk government takes action on this, but let the mass murderers take over Newcastle. If you're going to make a stand against something then make a stand.
Nothing to forgive. 100% relevant.

Whilst I’m not a fan of Chelsea (one of their fans pulled a knife on me at The Racecourse ground years ago) the idea of taking assets off people because you don’t like their friends is a dangerous road to go down. If I was a Newcastle fan I’d be worried. Hopefully Citeh will be next!

Not very kind of the government to pull this stuff on Chelsea's birthday.

Yes, Seizing someone's assets because they are friends with someone the government doesn't like is always the basis for sound Government policies.
He's not been sanctioned because they chat on Whatsapp mate.

Bollocks. That's the essence of silly whataboutism, whether you ask to be forgiven for it or not. There are sanctions on Russia which doesn't become invalid because of every other problem in the world that hasn't been solved.

I wonder what other country started to seize assets of a certain section of society for political and hateful reasons in our history?

Did you just really compare the prosecution of jews in the second world war to Abramovic’ toys being frozen?

Absolutely disgusting comment. Get a grip.

I don't want us to benefit from Chelsea being deducted points, personally. Would rather just take the L with the Europa League.

I still reckon Abramovich will find a way to pass the club from his left hand to his right hand and make it so that Chelsea can continue to operate normally / be sold.

So Chelsea won't have visiting fans for the remainder of the PL? Does this also count for their CL home games?

What % of Stamford Bridge's seats are season ticket holders? Would be funny if they had to play their games in front of a 50% capacity, although City doesn't seem to have a problem with that.

What's the price then and where does the money go?
well he isnt getting anywhere near 3bn. 1.5 absolute max and even thatd be lucky. All the wealthy billionaires who were interested, but not at the 3bn mark, will now rub their hands. Providing the dispensation is given, which i suspect it will be given that RA wont receive a penny of the fee, then i would suspect a sale to be quick and fast tracked perhaps.

ABRAMOVICH is or has been involved in destabilising Ukraine and undermining and threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine, via Evraz PLC, a steel manufacturing and mining company.

Rudiger, Christenson and Azpi would all be available on a free in the summer if it goes on that long, back line sorted

This is simply wishful thinking, especially suspecting 'a sale to be quick and fast tracked'.

A sale of the club cannot be made unless a special licence (dispensation) is given.
No funds from a sale could go to Abramovich or to any entity that he may be linked to through various murky webs or 3rd parties.

No income allowed.
I assume that includes future TV money, commercial activities etc.?

It's not hard to see the agenda. Russia have invaded a European democracy so the West are exercising the levers of power available to it as part of the conflict. It's not got much to do with football or morality, it's simply about attacking a dangerous enemy.
The part in bold is the most important thing.

Expires May 31st, and although it can be extended, I guess Chelsea can negotiate new contract terms with them as long as no contracts are signed during the sanction period of course. That they are free agents after this season doesn't immediately mean they'll be off.

I agree.

If they are doing this for the correct and right moral reasons then don't just stop at Chelsea, sort out all of the English Clubs and make it law who can own football clubs.
They won't and it's not even relevant, because football has nothing whatsoever to do with this. It doesn't even involve the FA. It impacts football simply because one of the assets owned by one particular Russian oligarch happens to be a football club.

Not that I wouldn't support the FA tightening the rules for that, but it's just a totally different issue.

Will allow their or "fans" to come and watch the game to fill up the stadium for free since they can't sell tickets, as I suspect the season ticket holders won't take up all the space.
Or are they content with just having the ticket holders present...

Not so sure. For the sanctions to bite they have to stick for a reasonable period. They’ll want Putin to be under pressure from his various jizz-soaked sock puppets.

Agree but if its extended why would you stay as a player when you can get a decent signing on fee at a club that isnt sanctioned, can have fans etc

So the club gets sanctioned, then further punished because the club couldn't survive the sanctions? Seems fair.
You got really lucky being picked by a billionaire so I guess you've got some bad luck due.

They let a murderous STATE take over a football club. If that's not an emergent sporting issue for the government then I don't know what is.

My anger was initially confined to the PL but now that the government have seen fit to get involved in this then it opens up a ton of other questions.
