Somen Tchoyi for West Brom. He had a couple of good games against us in his brief spell at WBA. Scored against us at Old Trafford, and had a game against us at the Hawthornes where he just terrorized us every time he had the ball. He was a big lad and we were just bouncing off him.
Somen is 39 now and back in Austria. He plays for my hometown club UFC Hallein in the Austrian 4th or 5th division.
He was great for Salzburg, but not disciplined enough for the big leagues.

Aaron Cresswell used to wake from Cryosleep twice a season to play against Utd.

Yakubu also was one of those annoying players that turned up against us and then disappeared into nothingness.

A couple of the City lads (pre Abu Dhabi) had one off games where they came to life and then disappeared too:

Benjani
Vassell
Mpenza

cnuts.

Every goalkeeper from bottom half teams in every season ever

I remember that 3-2 loss against Blackburn 10 years ago...wasn't quite the Tom Heaton masterclass we've most recently been accustomed to, but Mark Bunn absolutely controlled the OT crowd with shithousery throughout the 90 mins.

Scored close to 100 PL goals in his career.

I also thought about Afonso Alves immediately after seeing this thread. Top scorer in Netherlands, scored two goals against us right after joining Boro then disappeared the following season. In fairness he did score a hattrick against City right after the match against us so they probably feel the same when his name is mentioned.

I had a falling out with Mark Bunn in the front row of the Strettie

Didn't David Bentley manage a hatrick against us at Ewood?

Can't remember if that was the game we had a crack at Rio Ferdinand in midfield?

Went well

I don’t know why but for some reason I associate Danny Murphy for always turning up against us. Hardly would call it the game of his life (didn’t really know much about his career) but he always stood out as trying extra hard, the slug.

I've scanned the whole thread and not a mention of Andros Townsend yet? Awful player that looked like prime Giggs whenever we faced him.

Dennis Bailey QPR, scored a hat-trick at Old Trafford against Utd on New years day and was a media sensation for 3 days. Never did anything of note for the rest of his football career. i wouldn't be surprised if this was his only ever hat-trick
I had the misfortune to see that happen from the Stretford End!

Doesn't it say more about us than the player if average players look good against us?

It seemed to happen more frequently after 2009 too when United began to decline.

I am man enough to admit when I am wrong. Probably not only one. I though Vardy was going to be one of them. That performance when they came from behind to beat us I thought he never play another good game after it. How wrong was i

Unfortunately some players are average, have average games against us and don't disappear into obscurity.

I'm looking at you Carragher.
Amusing how since he's become a pundit he's been painted as one of the great Premier League centre backs.
