You do know man management is also the responsibility of Ralf right?
Its not just about tactics.
Motivating the squad is literally Ralf's job
And what if its impossible to motivate them given the circumstances he finds himself in? Or do you think literally every rich lazy person can be motivated with a few words of encouragement?

Murtough and Co made yet another mistake by hiring a manager with no experience to lead a top side and whose football is built around the very weaknesses of this team. However let's be honest. The side Murtough and ole has built is tragic
He seems like such an average manager of a team that can only get top 4 at best even in Germany.

He seems like manager that doesn't care about any sort of technical ability or any footballing ability of a player because he primarily and only really values the work rate and fitness ability of a player.

He seems like he will build a club first team 11 of players with a perfect fitness ability but no other ability in Football.

Some fans are absolutely loving this right now - talking about how it's showing lazy or incompetent players; whilst this maybe true - I do think he is such an average manager that has almost zero ability to get the best out of his players in any other way.

There are certain managers that can only work with their "tactical style of players" and then there are managers that are atleast to some standard, adapt and try get the best out of his players.

I can neither see this nor can I see tactics in a football match. He talks about Gegenpressing when at max 2 out of our front 4 (usually just 1) seems to press at all any time of the match. The same players who doesn't press for some reason may track back instead but why not press forward?

I do think that some of our players are feeling this "average manager, average tactics" right now and after a disappointing season just waiting for his time to finish as our interim manager.

I feel the same to be honest - I'm just waiting for this season to finish so we can have finally have a new manager again.

Ralf‘s remit and Jose’s remit are completely different.

Jose was hired as a permanent manager to win stuff and build a squad. He criticised the squad he built after getting what he wanted from the board.

Ralf was hired as an interim to (in my opinion) primarily evaluate the squad and shape a new football infrastructure. He hasn’t bought any players and he’s working with someone else’s squad, plus he’ll be upstairs next year hopefully working close with the people who’ll run the football side of things, so him giving both barrels to a bunch of players six months ago he had zero connection with, is more justifiable than what Jose did.

One was meant to bring glory and the other is a troubleshooter.
I said the same.

He's a disappointment as he doesn't seem capable of even implementing a basic defending style. We would be better off with Roy Hodgson or someone who could organize a defensive line. Cant believe how much he gets away with for "talking sense" and I do like him to stay as a consultant, but he's been terrible as a coach.

It's part of his job but it's not possible when half the team is out the door in the summer. That's not on him.

The biggest problem with him is that he still regards himself as an outsider "contracted consultant". Players won't have any motivation if their manager lacks any bondings with them.

We might be comfortably in top 4 now if we stuck to Carrick.
And we would be in the same place here next year and the year after as proven time and time again, we need a total reset and for it to happen we need Ragnick’s experience, knowledge and professionalism at the club. Some people just refuse to learn.

Ralf will be in for a shock when low key targets of his suddenly cost double or treble more.

That was a concern even prior to the season. Considering we have two high profile departures of Pogba and Matic, alongside marginal ones like Mata, Lingard etc leaving, there is bound to be a couple of incomings, plus promotions for the likes of Mejbri and Garner.
I don’t think the younger lads are ready yet but I’d eventually like to see them phase out the likes of Fernandes and Fred in a couple of seasons. We need a big window otherwise next season could be even worse

Sure you can blame the players, but our coaching is so bad. Our Manger is the worst in the league. Our players are still 4th or 5th best squad.

He can't motivate, not tactically improve anyone, poor selections, no technical improvements. Everything has got worse.

This is how I see it also. The club would have struggled to find any decent manager to take the role for 6 months - even Rangnick wanted further assurances that he would be part of the back room staff after this season to convince him. He initially turned it down.

Context is key when looking at his time here. When he was announced and it was said that he would advise the club going forwards, everybody loves it as we all knew we'd finally get an impartial view on our squad and the club would get a few home truths. Seems a few have lost sight of this. This season was a train wreck before he arrived and severe damage done in all aspects already. Yes it could have been better, but looking at us now, I just think we've somehow built a squad that has absolutely no chemistry and nothing going for it at all. Some feat really.
Yeah, people are getting away really, we have seen from him that he he clearly identified what’s wrong with the club and players at the club for us to start working on finally a bigger picture. It does no good for us to scrap top 4 with big Sam only to be in the same position next year. That’s how we ended up in this situation anyway.

He's literally been hired as an INTERIM MANAGER. I expect him to do at the very least: Improve training, improve fitness, improve tactics and therefore player performance, motivation, and, RESULTS. If he manages to change the culture somewhat, that's great, at least a little. Again, Tuchel had chelsea playing his way in weeks. Rangnick can't even get them pressing for one game.
Stop being obtuse. That’s not the fitness he was referring to. There is a different department associated for that. We aren’t a small club. He’s not managing Derby County. All these things should be accounted for. Tunchel changed the playing style, the fitness team would be the same. Having Lukaku turn fat on our watch and not realising he had certain allergies is not a Jose Mourinho, Solskjaer problem… So why now are we relating it to Ralf.

Just no, how is this still an opinion? I do agree that plenty of these players I'd like to think are better than what we're currently seeing, but so many simply aren't, they're not good enough for where we should be or what the sort of team we want to be.

What's funny? He's right. How come those shit Liverpool teams were able to be motivated year after year to play us, its meant to be a cup final, yet our disgusting lot treated it less than a kick around in a local park.
Their squad didn't have any characters who saw themselves as above the work.

Our players lack humility and don't want to work hard

They’re full grown professionals that have a responsibility to turn up. If you need someone to get you motivated for Liverpool away it says more about you than anyone else
your lack of understanding of football at the highest level is astonishingly bad

The notion of self-motivating players where no input from the manager is needed is as daft as it gets. If you don't think their managers played a large role in motivating the players then i'm not entirely sure how i can help

They didn't win a single second ball or even pick up a yellow until deep in the second half lad, there's a point where pride kicks in even if your manager is the shittest manager in the world.

"Sorry I didn't win a tackle gaffer, I just don't feel motivated by you to do so"

No manager can succeed with the current set of players we have. I don't know how many more managers we will continue sacking until we realize that the problem is within the squad because of poor decisions by the club hierarchy. What if Ten Hag comes in and is in mid table by December. Will we sack him as well?

Mourinho said this and if I'm not mistaken, Giggs and Rio mentioned it as well at some stage. We have a few bad apples in the squad which need weeding out.

We ended second last year and most agree Ole is worse than Klopp. Explain our shit team now suddenly?
Arteta is way better than our manager. They still start Xhaka in midfield.

I think he's close to having a breakdown.
Would be fun to watch him go on a tirade against all these feckwits.

It's a two way street, of course the manager motivates, of course they're meant to inspire, but surely you don't think it should all come from them? What the feck are these mugs even playing the game for if they don't want to win? It's not all about money, some players do actually love the game and want to be successful.

Why do Chelsea have success even when their managers are player powered out of clubs, because they had/have a motivated group that even if they don't believe in the bloke in charge, they still want to achieve. Our bunch don't, clearly.

It's not sudden is it? Starting players like Shaw, AWB, our midfield weren't good enough then not good enough now. Yes we got 2nd, in a season where Liverpool and Chelsea were a mess. Is the Ole finishing 2nd going to be held like some grand achievement like Jose's 2nd now?

I 100% think some of these players are better than what we're seeing and will be better under Ten Hag, but I also think some utterly stink and should never wear the shirt again, unfortunately there's a crossover there, because some of these players will try for a bit, then down tools once again.

Reading the comments here makes me think what I'm about to say is less of an unpopular opinion than I initially thought. I think with Ole, we would have have finished higher in the table than we are about to with Ralf. Although, that wouldn't have been to our long term benefit.
One of the biggest issues with the team right now is that we are going through a transitional period, which creates a lack of conviction and clarity in everything we do. I don't think our current position is at all reflective of the ability in the team.

In a weird way, this makes me hopeful for the future. So long as Ralf works well with ETH and the board helps them get their high priority targets (these won't be as expensive as people think) we will finish too 4 next season.

Got the impression yesterday he was holding back from going fully in on the players. I think some pretty harsh words will be said come the end of the season.
Doesn't have to take that long, 1 more half asked performance and he might just "break".
He's reaching boiling point and I can't blame him , I take a lot of my criticisms of him back.

I think it's actually hilarious we have all these threads being updated by posters to try and justify how blameless the squad is and meanwhile we have another thread that's essentially a direct quote from our club captain which says "all the managers keep picking me, so I must be awesome"

I think we can see a quick upturn in form under the right manager. Fighting with Liverpool for the title we are miles off,but things can change quickly.

its a perfect storm of a system manager unable to play his system

a man unsure about his future at the club - he's not exactly fighting for his future with these players

the most disengaged United squad collectively and individually playing the worst football of their careers

an injury crisis with little options to get shot of the disengaged players

It would be unfair to throw Hannibal into a game like last night in this broken team....

Rangnick has not gotten performances from this team... not even close. Id still rather have him oversee our rebuild over the next few years with a new manager in place than Fletcher or Murtough who have no experience

Ralf isn't blameless, he should have read the room better on these bunch of cnuts and at least pretended to be their friend until the season ended before sticking the dagger in, but my word this lot will get absolutely any manager in the world sacked. Cowards of the highest order

I expect a manager to come and either do what he needs to get results or start playing in a fashion that will be effective when they get used to it. Rangnick is doing neither. People keep saying there’s nothing Rangnick could do to get better results. Carrick was able to do it in tougher fixtures than Rangnick has fecked up.

The **** of Rangnick has become weirder than Martial’s. I genuinely can’t believe people have watched him manage us through pitiful four goal defeats to City and Liverpool and come out defending him.
Because we're looking past these results and more interested in the long term effect he has on the club. I am tired of short fixes and stop-gap methods. We need to change everything from the core.

Before the Liverpool match RR said 2 to 3 windows. After he said we are 6 years behind. It won’t be a quick fix either way.

Ragnick dreams of being as good at coaching players as Ole Gunner Solskjaer.
This can’t be a serious response, even Ole himself said he didn’t coach the team, Ole isn’t a good coach and had we carried on with him we would have continued to be a team of mercenaries relying on moments of brilliance. This reset needed to happen, Ragnick has done what he was meant to, asses the squad and what is required for a rebuild. Anyone expecting RR to come in and work wonders really needs to put the crack pipe down, this lot have now been found out by someone who knows what he’s doing.

You're quick to call something a ****, it's almost like you have a lot of experience with them.

As always, there's no ****. There's a bunch of players that have gotten multiple managers sacked, won't fight or even show pride in the shirt, and there's a manager who clearly isn't up to managing a team anymore but can see the big picture clearer than anyone else at the club.

If you think anything drastic will change with this same group of players and a new manager you're going to be in here calling the '**** of Ten Hag' weird by January.

The lunatics have been running the asylum for too long.

The cliques need to be broken up, the losers who are more interested in the YouTube highlights and dancing need to be moved on, the soft pricks who don't dig out performances when things are rough need to be fecked off.

Give the management team authority. Bring in young, hungry, humble players who only care about winning and being the best.

I think Ralf Rangnick going upstairs will be saying the same thing and a few players will be scared for their grift

I personally don't put any blame on him. You can tell he's dedicated to his craft and is a big stat/numbers guy but no manager is getting anything out of that squad. Not a single manager in world football could walk in to our team and fix things. Most of the players have checked out. They need moving on. How hard can it be to call them in one by one and ask them if they want to play for the club. Any hesitancy then sack them off. I'd happily fold the club and start again from the conference.

I can't wait until we offer all of the underachievers a new contract.
