Update the thread title! Brilliant news (I hope), needs backing by the club.

So where do Ajax go from here? Who are the potential new managers who could keep the good work going? Kasper Hjulmand would be an outstanding hire and probably the right step for him, but the timing is a bit off. It would be difficult to convince him to leave Denmark before the World Cup.

I heard rumours about Peter Bosz.

I'd sell everyone of them except i would keep Rashford...he's a quality player but just having a tough time right now. I think a manager like ETH and his style of play will help Marcus a lot and anyone comparing him and Martial are mental.
Players don't put minimal effort in when they are having a tough time.

A player eager to get over a slump puts in a job, he hasnt done that in months. Hes had enough time to fix it, get what we can and get a player who is hungry for a place in the team and the plans.

Looking forward to it. It’s just the premier league experience which lacks with him.many Ajax managers have left Ajax and haven’t been successful.

Does the OP win some kind of prize for unearthing a future united manager 4 years ago?

Ten Hag is our new B.F.F. (Pep Guardiola is my idol forever)

He has to become our Dutch SAF. If he needs 3 or 4 seasons to win his first PL, so be it, as long as he finishes Top3+ good UCL runs.
The rebuild comes first, then the PL.

Should have kept this good news for after Saturdays defeat by Arsenal.
Nah, we needed it now. Plus, it could have a positive impact for the Arsenal game by raising the clubs spirit.

It will be interesting to see how Cruijffian principles are adapted to Manchester United. The philosophy of Ajax and Cruijff is different to what Manchester United are used to doing.

With this appointment, All top teams in the premier league now use the Positional Play to varying degrees. We are definitely living in the era of Johan Cruijff.

Pep has been doing it with City since 2016. And Arteta with Arse.

Unlike before I genuinely think that the club is open to "external" ideas rather than trying to replicate anything SAF did, like there is a clear The United Way philosophy that needs to be forced on any new managers. Promoting youth is probably still very important but as long as we get entertaining attacking football then it doesn't matter which football philosophy it is based on. And as always there's still a strong romanticism connected to the dutch total football philosophy (which we hoped we would get from LvG!).

I’d like to think it would especially in the fan base but my faith in the majority of our players is close to non existent.

I wonder if he’ll be given more time than the others when you’ve still not won the title a few years down the line! :D

How is the reaction at Ajax/Holland to United unsettling the manager and an ongoing league/cup campaign?

Is this par for the course there?

It's only the league anymore. They lost the cup final already to PSV last week.
