I know it's not always reliable, but I wonder what the Moneyball stats system would say who is the best full back available at this time?
Probably Mazraoui, since the moneyball approach also takes into account the cost of the player.

Every one of those useless feckwits need to replaced, they have obviously done a bang up job so far!

Completely new ideas and fresh faces are required otherwise ETH is hamstrung from day one.
You know nothing about any of them.

Silly and naive post

Out:
Ralf Rangnick (interim manager)
Chris Armas (assistant manager)
Mike Phelan (TBD)*
*has to be out, wtf does he do?

In:
EtH (Bald Savior JC)
Mitchell van der Gaag (Bald Savior Apostle)

Unknown:
Sascha Lense (sports psychologist)
Martyn Pert (strength and conditioning)
Eric Ramsay (set piece / specialist coach)
Richard Hartis (goalkeeping)
Richard Hawkins (human performance/sports science)
Michael Clegg (strength and power)? - sound duplicative with Pert
Edward Leng (sports scientist/analyst)

Someone next to Murtough (like Paul Mitchell) needs to assess the other coaches or first team staff categorized in the unknown. The fitness and recovery of the players, and natural body type, has to be matched with/made a collective effort with scouting/player identification and sustained if not improved by training/fitness coaches.
Sascha was brought in by RR, so he is probably leaving with Armas too.

IMO, I think he coaching Staff are merely a support staff to the Head Coach, from what we've been told about ETH, he is a "Hands-On" coach, very detailed and meticulous, and spends long periods of time on coaching and training his players, he will certainly set the tone of the training sessions, and his Assistant, Van der Gaag will be his trusted no.2 to help him lead these trainings.

The rest will follow ETH's plan & vision, so I don't see it as an issue if the current coaches are retained next season (except for the 2 hired by RR & Phelan), but I think it's best if most of the existing football coaches are replaced and new competent ones brought in if possible (based on ETH's preferences of course), the current coaches should only be retained if a replacement cannot be found.

The non coaching staff, like the ones from Sports Science or Analysts, they should stay if there's a value in keeping them, I don't think they work with the players directly anyway.

There's also the Medical Staff, we played less games than the likes of Liverpool and city who went deep into domestic cups and CL, yet we have multiple injuries throughout the season, I wonder if RR would recommend an overhaul of the Medical Department.

Seems on odd day to announce today. I guess it gives him the chance to get back to preparing Ajax for Saturday and it's 48hrs since the disaster.

Ten Hag needs to be able to bring in who the hell he wants to help him get us back on track… he should be allowed to get rid of who he wants and sign who he wants. He’s definitely bringing in his assistant from Ajax but another important Coach he needs to bring with him is his fitness coach, I’m assuming he has one at Ajax, they look miles fitter then our lot. It feels like we haven’t got one or had one in years… surely people from the board should be checking that staff are doing there jobs properly? Fitness coaches are suppose to make your team fit and raring to go but that’s not the case with us, there all lazy… sack him! Club needs re organising from top to bottom.
Yeah needs all the hire and fire power that Guardiola and Klopp were given straight away

I would love to have heard the brutal assessment he delivered. I doubt he'd have taken the job if they're not going to let him attempt to fix it.

I think this is the most promising part, he sounds like he wants to fix the club, not just the first team.

I think this is a perfect time to come in and manage United. We have a lot of players leaving, but is anyone disappointed to see any of the go? I’d drive them all to the airport, and a few more given the chance.
There clearly will be money to spend. Wage bill will be a ton lighter with the outgoings and no CL football hitting wage packets too.
United need a reset. Not a half arsed reboot that Ole and Woody joked about, and it’s started already with the scouts going today and ETH coming in. I don’t think we will ever see an opportunity to reset United as we have this summer with so many leaving out of contract (because getting rid of our deadwood has been our Achilles heel for to long).
Blindly, I trust the new regime because it seems to be set up for a pedal fresh start. Fingers crossed because we fecking need one.
I saw someone else suggest that also and I agree. I had been thinking that United is a kind of graveyard for reputations, but actually, things are so low now that expectations are at the bottom as well. A new coach hence has free reign to do whatever they want, and the fanbase will be happy with anything that looks new and different. As long as there is gradual and continuous progress in performances, Ten Hag might be allowed some two years of middling results before real complaints would start again about not winning prizes etc. That's pretty much a free ride for a fulsome rebuild (no need to 'build a plane while flying'), while United also has the money to fund it. And after all that, if it fails, most people will likely blame the players againl and if it succeeds, Ten Hag is a hero.

There are probably some nuances I could add here, but all in all, that's a pretty nice scenario to walk into for Ten Hag.

We should announce him via a Sanchez parody video, playing a broken Piano or something.

You would think that they are going to give him full power to get it done because if they don’t and are just hoping his skills as a mgr will fix this they will be setting you back for more and more years. Also you better hope he’s not thinking that his ability as a mgr alone will be enough to change it for the better. He needs to change the culture and get rid of a bunch of players and really recruit well. It needs to change because I have never seen a united or Liverpool team give up in any match in any era of our rivalry until your team this season.

We have to be in for Oblak if we're serious about the rebuild. We need a keeper and there isn't anyone realistically available. Atletico has nothing to offer him anymore from a sporting perspective and there isn't anyone better than him out there. Unless we unearth some unknown gem we'll be stuck with DDG and Henderson for a long time.
Is an Oblak/DDG swap in the cards?

I'd rather he was the one breaking the piano, while Stormzy looked on tearfully at a shirt numbered "6" but bearing no name.

Richard keys and Alan Gray are bashing into him, and nigel de Jong is sticking up for him.

The ajax fans reckon he's a one trick pony who hasn't got a plan B and that he makes subs very late, when it's too late. Say he can't get the best out of a bad team.

This is gonna be a bumpy ride.
But he has won the league almost every season, which makes him quite successful. As long the team keeps winning, doesn't matter when and how he makes his subs. And even if its a one-trick, as long as that gives off high return on a consistent basis- he can stick to it. I'd worry if his tactics stopped working and then he didn't have a backup plan at all.

I reckon all top managers do have backup plans and can adapt to game situations. But they also have their own style, philosophy, and tactics which hardly changes. It would be mad to expect a manager to play 4-2-3-1 high press and possession game one week, and then suddenly change to 3-5-2 low block counter attack the next. That almost never happens.

can anyone tell me how he actually plays? ive seen lots of things just said with no evidence. is he press first or possession first? lot of people saying he will start garner but seems alvarez is an out and out holding midfield (but de jong wasnt before that). has he played a variety of styles at ajax depending on what players he had to sell each summer? plays a target man and natural wingers at the moment, without conventional full backs?

He plays high line and expects his back four and keeper to be capable to play progressive passess, he uses inverted full backs, he's more flexible in attack as he has played with false 9 and traditional 9 before. For more information, read below. I think De Jong and Alvarez situation or even false 9 and traditional no 9 shows he can adapt with different type of midfielders and attackers as long as they works hard and can play quick football. But one thing that hasn't change is how he expects his back four and keeper to play progressive passes.
