The very fact that he thinks we should be signing up to 10 players in one transfer window shows he shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near the running of the club once his managerial stint is over. Thankfully he won’t be either.

It’s funny seeing him hailed as a hero for calling out the players. It’s the manager’s job to engage and motivate the players. It’s so crazy for an interim manager to lose the dressing room because you only had to hold it together for 6 months! Even Jose who’s notorious for this kind of stuff lasted 2 years at United before the cracks really started to show. Contrary to popular belief this doesn’t reflect well on Rangnick at all.

I agree with this. I'm pretty pro-Ralf. I struggle to see how he could get more out of this group, when it treats him like a supply teacher who's not worth listening to cos he'll be gone by summer. However, if he won't give the kids a chance that's something that can be held against him. Why continue to play players who, at best, dislike him and, at worst, actively oppose him?
With you on this. It's my one gripe. You have repeatedly suggested the squad have lost fight and are not even trying, yet you call them your "strongest team". Ralf has nothing to lose by playing these kids. I even think it will ease the tension with the fans and the stadium will be less toxic.

He didn't say in one transfer window, he said United needed to bring in 10 players period. And he's not wrong either, our squad clearly isn't good enough as we have issues to address in almost every position.

And these same player have been throwing the manager under the bus for the third time now. Rangnick himself has said that these players aren't listening to instructions, confirmed by player leaks themselves. So yes its refreshing we have someone calling the players out for once, since its been the same players who've been downing tools yet again and giving us tepid performances week in and out, all while undermining the dressing room sanctity by leaking left right and centre.

I hope he becomes more unhinged tbh, the sooner the fans start turning on these chancers the quicker we can force them out of the club and actually start cultivating a squad of hardworking, hungry players that's willing to work with the new manager.

No Doctor is a magician. And yes we are alive.
The season Ole finished third, on match day 33 we have almost the same point as now. Meaning we are still where we are because of underlying issues which must be solved first.
Ralf has told us the issue,it's us now to accept to do it or continue doing the things which brought us here
But we were in much better form and actually playing some good football. We are currently the worst United side in the worst form I can actually remember.

Ralf has done incredibly badly as an interim manager, results morale performances have all fallen apart completely, worse than what they were Ole. The whole thing has got really toxic.

Now I accept that things had to change after this season and it could all be a means to an end but his job as interim manager was to steady the ship improve performances and give us the fans something positive for this season. All the throwing the players under the bus publicly has sent the season into complete tailspin, he is right about the players but his job was to get a tune out of them until the end of the season not destroy what little confidence and morale they had anyway.

We have reached the point in our evolution were we have become too delicate.

Scorn those that say it as it is .. the pampered need protecting.

I need to re-watch the Life of Brian to see if this was mentioned.

Now the club has said that ETH has at most 150m to spend, and we shouldn’t expect 10 new players. Ralf has been poor tactically, man management wise, handling the Martial and Lingard situations, bringing in Armas, who is not qualified to coach at this level, he’s called out players publically…. Even if Ole was bad, Ralf’s been worse in every sense. Starting Dalot on the left against Mo Salah? Really?
We can criticize Ragnick over many things but he had no say on the Martial and Lingard situations. Martial had already decided he wanted to go on loan before Ragnick came, and there was nothing he could do. And with regards to Lingard, the club kept him against Ragnick’s will, and they also allowed to take days off even though Ragnick had told him he couldn’t.

So the players have done this to multiple people, including Mourinho as you say, but Rangnick is the one completely at fault? Way to completely absolve the players of any blame whatsoever. I'd prefer to have him at the helm over virtually everyone else in the United hierarchy because you clearly do not have a clue about Rangnicks credentials in that area. It's not his job to "hold it together" because if he has to just "hold it together" that shows it in itself is completely rotten to the core. If the players were doing really well and clearly had no attitude issues and such, then Rangnick came in and he started calling them out and we were playing this bad, your point would be solid. As it is your point to me proves that the players have been shitbags for multiple seasons now and instead of calling them out on it you're saying Rangnick should of just hold it together and shut his mouth until the new manager came in.

I'd rather he burn down the fecking club outing the awful management practices, shocking recruitment, the players attitude, work ethic and power rather than just "hold it together for 6 months." Every single one of these charlatans at the club needs to be outed otherwise they'll just dig in and burrow deeper and keep themselves entrenched at the club and nothing will change

Where is this 10 players thing coming from? I'm pretty sure I read him talk about rebuilding over several summer windows so how did we arrive at 10 players in one window in only the space of a week? I mean, for god's sakes guys.

It's complete conjecture. He never once said we need to sign 10 players this summer.

3 or 4 of those new players could also be loaned players returning, or players promoted from the youth setup.

We are going to lose a minimum of 7 or 8 players this summer. That number could conceivably reach 12-15.

It's not ridiculous to suggest a decent number of those bodies will need to be replaced.

There’s no mention or implication of one transfer window in any of his quotes. He talked about a rebuild but did not say or imply one transfer window.

He said Liverpool were six years ahead of us (there are more than one transfer window in six years).

And he said “When Jurgen Klopp came they changed at the club and lifted not just the team but the club and city to a new level. That is what needs to happen with us in the next transfer windows.” (notice the ‘s’ at the end of ‘windows’)

Its the managers job to identify and get rid of turd.

In the past 3 years the dressing room has been "lost" between three managers and you still believe the only constant between them ie the players aren't a major contributing factor ?

Feck this motivating nonsense, these players need to be chucked out en mass.

The very fact that he thinks we should be signing up to 10 players in one transfer window shows he should be allowed everywhere near the running of the club once his managerial stint is over. Thankfully he'll be around further.

Fixed that for you.

To be fair to Solskjaer though Rangnick came in and did pretty much the same with those two guys. Loaned Donny out barely playing him before that and Eric hasn't played a minute since December despite being fit and available for most of that time since Afcon. So it can't be a coincidence.
To be fair Ralf Rangnicks squad management has not been any better than Ole's.

Is ‘buy a new team’ the kind of expert insight only someone such as Rangnick could formulate?

I also think if he didn't have any consultancy role to look forward to he'd have benched the lot of them,
That doesn't explain why he has been giving minutes to players whose contracts are up.
The simpler explanation is that there is no great strategic consideration here, he's trying to achieve short-term objectives and failing.

 yes I'm sure Lampard would say something similar about his situation.
If our players put in half the effort that everton players are putting in then top 4 would have been in the bag already.

Our players are better in quality than evertons, but due to our lot downtooling and there's putting in a shift they're performing at a similar level.

At the end of the day turd can't be polished, but keep on polishing it..its already stinking.

We have 38 players in the first team. Most of the players that are leaving are already replaced. If anything we need to not replace them, bring 3 or 4 actual potential starters and use the young players like Mejbri, Garner, Elanga, Pellistri or Diallo as squad players instead of having old timers like Mata and Cavani or fringe players like Lingard.

A manager who isn't completely and utterly out of his depth would help too. And that's the point. We were a mess when Ole left, the players had no confidence and needed leadership. That somebody managed to make that situation worse is actually quite an achievement. The conditions we have right now is a failing on everybody's part; the players, the board, and yes indeed the manager who has shown nothing but ineptitude in controlling the situation.

That was the point I was making.

That some of the 10 Rangnick mentioned, could well be the likes of Garner, Pellistri, Amad, Laird, Fernandez, Williams etc.

I'm curious why Rangnick is getting so much backing on here by United fans. It's ok to call him out as being a bit of a shit Manager as well as calling out the players for having a fecking terrible attitude. They're both at fault. Being a Manager was never Rangnicks strength in the first place, but it's ok to call out his Managerial stint as a disaster. It's been hot garbage. But that was never his strength in the first place, some of our fans bigged him up not really understanding his strengths. We'll see if he's as good at building clubs up as his reputation suggests in the Summer and onwards.

It's the "anyone could do better than Solskjaer" crowd vs the "we'll treat him with the same patience you showed Solskjaer" crowd. They are at each other's throats. Nothing more, nothing less. Maybe i'm wrong, but that's just how i see it. Didn't we also have separate threads (just like this and the legacy one) in which each group went to vent their frustrations under Solskjaer? You could also ask why so much hate for a manager who was always going to be replaced next May. But, given how disjointed we look on the pitch, i can understand your perspective. Anyway, just my take on it.

I think he has been a bit shit but I said once Solskjaer was sacked that I'm so far beyond blaming the manager at this point. I also think I personally don't mind as much because unlike under previous managers where there was uncertainty on how they'd be allowed to continue as manager, even when it was painfully obvious it wasn't working out, we've always known exactly when Rangnick is standing down. I also accepted we weren't getting CL in October so I've never been too devastated about missing out on it this season, I maintain that we don't deserve it. I've defended his credentials a few times, mainly because a few vocal posters are suggesting we should cancel his advisory contract off the back of his managerial performance, which I feel would be a massive step backwards.

Literally the only reason Ralf has any backing from the fans is because he is mirroring their own complaints about the team.

The difference is that he is in a position where he should be aiming to keep the dressing room onside and keeping them motivated. Instead he's just washed his hands of it and called them all shite, mainly as far as I can see to save face.

Momentarily satisfying for the fans, but it manifests in the terrible performances we're currently seeing.

And yes the players shouldn't be so thin-skinned, and they should give 100% no matter what etc. etc. but that is not the reality of modern football. You have to work at keeping them motivated.

If Klopp came out every week and said his team were shite do you think Liverpool would be performing to their current level?

No, because if he did that it would be because they're shite, but they're not.

There's a chance Klopp or Guardiola would call out and fall out with these players. Neither of Klopp or Pep have had to manage a similar set on an interim basis. At the same time, Ralf has not done a good job coaching. He's clearly someone who's adapted to being upstairs and it looks like coaching's not his thing anymore (and he probably never was the best coach).

I'd believe that as he would surely know with his experience that 10 in one window is unrealistic.

On the other hand though bringing in 10 players over 3-4 transfer windows in the next 18-24 months is pretty much the norm anyway for most clubs, it hardly amounts to the massive re-build the media are pushing.

Well no not really you're right there, but with regards to Bailly I think it's possible there's an attitude problem or some other issue there as considering Maguire's form and Varane's injuries it's strange that Eric hasn't had a run out at all this year.

Yeah, and Klopp at the very least had players who wanted to be at Liverpool. I have no connection with the majority of our squad who don't seem to give a shit about the club. If they did they would actually put some effort in.

Because they need to hear it?
They need to hear this in private. Berating them in public has not worked because it never works. Their performance is worse than it was under Ole. When the team had a brief run of unconvincing wins, RR took the credit but now that results have gone south, he is throwing players under the bus. Any set of players left behind will be even more guarded against the new manager, to prevent their reputations from being tarnished even further.
RR has made it harder for ETH to get group buy-in for his ideas.

all the mutineers need to be called out and then promptly fecked off
If you scream and shout about how poor your players are then which other team will take them? This is transfer strategy 101. I'm surprised how little criticism RR gets for his childish rant about requiring 10 new players. You should be glad that he's just a consultant and not the DoF.

An article in Denmark says players no longer trust Rangnick and they are not sure of ETH.
Why can't these players just shut up and start putting just a minor effort into the game.
There have been protest against so much the last years in United. Maybe one against the players that cannot keep their mouth shut and put in zero effort.

The players Klopp managed when he joined Liverpool were shit. He shipped out most of them over the years.

Instead of calling them shit, he had them celebrate a draw against West Brom. He was roundly mocked for it here at Redcafe.

When they lost a Europa League final, he insisted they celebrate and told them "Two hours ago you all felt s***. Now hopefully you all feel better. This is just the start for us. We will play in many more finals."

Can anyone imagine Rangnick doing this? Of course not.

If true then Ralf is correct. He would have told them in private what he wants them to do and they refused. He didn't come out and publicly say all this in the beginning. He kept his thoughts and did say anything about the players earlier on.
Now it's the right thing to do. ETH has not even come to United and the players are already doubting him.
Bunch of spivs the lot of them. Sell them or dump them into the reserves.

No self-respecting manager would stay at an interim job where the employees are "refusing to work for" him so why is he still around? Money?

Do you really think 5 months is enough time to fix the issues with the management, board, players, coaching, and all the other stuff that's messed up in the club? You expect a manager to fix the issues that have been there for 9 years (since SAF left), in just 5 months, issues that a top manager like Mourinho couldn't fix. Even the best managers like Kloop, Pep, Tuchel, etc would need at least 1 and a half to 2 seasons just to get this club and team back on track. According to the logic in your post, Carrick would be the best Man Utd manager because he has never lost a match for us.
Yes. With this squad, I think Klopp, Pep, Tuchel, Ancelotti, Conte, Nagelsmann, Gaultier, Simeone, Emery, Enrique, Zidane, hell, probably Lopetegui, Sarri, Allegri would’ve gotten top 4.

It doesn’t matter what the Ralf fan boy **** thinks, the fact of the matter is that the board expected Ralf to stabilize the defense, achieve top 4 and provide a platform for success for the permanent manager. He’s failed in every way, alienated the squad, is tactically naive, no,wait, stupid.

He’s a clown and a fraud and in a 20 year managerial career, he’s won one measly trophy against a Bundesliga 2 side where he came in just before the final. .

There is this Ralf **** idea that he is the the genius behind the high press. No, he stole that from Arrigo Saatchi who stole it from Rinus Michels who stole it from some guy no one can remember. There is this idea that counter attacking football isn’t modern, isn’t smart, doesn’t win trophies. False. Zidane’s Real sides were essentially counter attacking, Conte, Ancelotti, Emery, Allegri, Simeone… the list goes on. SAF played a 4-5-1 (mostly in Europe) or a 4-4-2 almost exclusively, two counter attacking formations, and that fella won a few trophies.

If Ralf had successfully installed the geggenpress, morphed to a 4-2-2-2 successfully, solidified the defense, made us play BETTER, I wouldn’t have cared about the top 4. But he’s been a disaster in every category. This idea that we have to be bad in order to become great again is a view held by naive nitwits who don’t understand management. We can easily go from good to great, we don’t need to burn it to the ground first. No CEO, ever, was like, “let’s feck up our products so bad that no one will buy them and we can just start over with new ones.”

That may be so, I remember conflicting reports. My main issue was how he handled the questions RE Martial & Lingard in the press conferences which caused a stir.
