I find it a bit odd that there's more people in this thread than in many of the ones for when United legends die. I suppose he's a more current figure but still...agree with horsechoker's sentiments, condolences to his family and friends, not a sad day for football though.
I find it weird/depressing that a football agent is this well known. Never mind his death provoking such an outpouring of e-grief.

Holy shit. Completely out of the blue.

Remember from Zlatan's book how glowingly he wrote about him. I guess he was the type of agent that really fit these high profile (and ego) footballers.

RIP.

People die every day. Even greedy people.
Very respectful replies. Personally, I don't really feel moved when a famous person dies, even ones I like, but a digital RIP is pretty much as low effort a mark of respect as you can give. However, on this occasion, I don't have one to spare. Much rather the likes of Raiola were removed via reform than death, but to suggest we have lost a part of the football family is a pretty damning stain upon the game.

How was he terrible for the sport? Do you prefer players having cardiac arrests for peanuts while the owners pocket the big money, just to enjoy your club’s success at the expense of players well being? Gosh.
Agreed, I vastly prefer players having cardiac arrests for vast sums of money, but as long as they have the cardiac arrests I'm good.

RIP Mino,
Probably the best agent to ever be in the game, regardless of whether people liked his methods or not, he got deals done, made his clients a lot of money and also made himself a lot of money, which in itself shows he was very good at his job.

Dutch Twitters and football forums are full of "RIP goat" "legend" "Jesus H. Christ of football".

I did not wish death or harm on him, but it's basically the death of a really famous used car salesman.

Guess you prefer the money to go to the owners pockets instead of the players who are the actual talents in the game

Rest in peace, it didn’t do his own reputation any good but he’d take all the hits of what his clients wanted for themselves and took the heat for it. He was a damn good agent from a players perspective.

Think its a generational thing tbh. Younger fans aren't going to know who Frank O'Farrell is, but will know Raiola because of players like Haaland and Pogba.

So apparently not dead , just in a bad condition?
Hope he pulls through if that's the case.

Looks someone has jumped the gun there. Various reports that he's not dead.

You'd think a journalist like Palmieri would verify his intel before declaring someone dead...

Clubs probably hated working with him, the players loved him because he got them what they deserved. At the end of the day, football at this level is a business and he was a master.

Tbf Putin, Trump and Fred West were good at what they did.

FFS the media are so shit. Reporting he is dead before getting a clear confirmation just for clicks.

I'd actually prefer that football players / clubs / owners would not be paid vast sums of money at all. They're simple entertainers, reward them as such.

And yes, I know, capitalism, supply and demand. We all love capitalism, it's great and so is Mino Raiola the capitalism GOAT who did it all out of an altruistic sense of justice towards poor and hungry football players like Zlatan and De Ligt.

What the feck?!

I might as well bring it up because it's going to get mentioned, I wonder how it affects the futures of Pogba, Haaland etc? Probably not at all

To be fair, his profile is incredibly high. He made sure about that. It’s just utterly bizarre the way he seems to have actual fans out there. So crazy.
I think its down to how much more transparent and exposed the wider footballing world has been is since the explosion of social media, offering deeper insights into the workings of clubs and players. Its why we have transfer muppetry over heads of recruitment/director of football type appointments and why the likes of Fabrizio Romano have ascended to celebrity like status.

A handful of players have cardiac arrest. They are handsomely paid at the top level.
