Last year's UEL final. Gave up on the club returning to glory that night.

France-Italy World Cup final 2006, should have been Zidane's majestic wrap up to his magical career, turned into a nightmare in the end and to lose on penalties is just the bow on top of this crappy gift football gave me that year.

I remember being really proud of the team after the 2005 FA cup final defeat as we absolutely dominated the 'Invincibles' but it did sting a bit too.

The 2011 CL final really annoyed me. The 2009 final was more disappointing because we could have won it, the 2011 was more anger inducing because we were now a millions miles away from Barca and it felt impossible.

The 98/99 semi final vs United. Bergkamp missing that penalty...

Away to Villa in 02/03. A comical Toure own goal set the trend for our end of season collapse.

The 03/04 Champions League QF vs Chelsea. A Lehmann error cost us badly.

The 05/06 Champions League Final.

Think for me it was 3:0 defeat under Moyes vs Liverpool, it wasnt only game it self, around that period just found out that my mom had a brain tumor and every United game i experienced as a booster of some kind, already in bad place mentally every defeat enhanced things and every positive result gave for at least a moment some positivity.

That game vs Liverpool was hoping that at least for 2h i can shift my mind to focus on something else and they just...yea, would say that game was it for me.

The city game at home this season. Never been so disappointed by my team and it underlined the lack of effort that’s been seen almost every game since.

Stopped caring about the team after that as they didn’t fancy playing for the badge.
Was it the game Guardiola said he saw no need to make changes because the players are not getting tired?

1991/92 United 1 Forest 2 - it was clear that day that the 25 year wait for a league title would become 26 years. The pain driving back from that match was unbearable. If only we’d known what was to come, it would have eased the pain considerably!

When Aguero scored the winner vs qpr and then the news broke at Sunderland and I saw Fergie consoling his team. I don't think I've felt that low since.

I woke up that morning resigned to our fate with City having QPR at home.

It's the hope that kills ya! I've still not seen the goal. I went on my first holiday with the current missus and mother of my children a few weeks after. An ad for sky sports that summer had the commentary on the radio every 5 minutes.

Nearly ripped the fecking thing out her car by end of the week

In terms of disappointment, going out of the CL to Real at OT in 2000. We had just beat West Ham 7-0 at the weekend and went into the second leg after a draw at the Bernabeau. Real were nothing particularly special that year but we blew it.

In terms of depression, the 4-0 defeat at Goodison towards the end of Ole's first season. Just confirmed for me that his appointment was a mistake and that there was very little to look forward to in the seasons that followed.

Fergie interview after the game was one of the inspirational interviews I’ve ever heard.

thats exactly it, it was the hope. if they had smashed qpr 4 love i wouldnt have given a feck i had the city game on the radio and the united game on tv. I still get incredibly sad thinking about it. Smashing them the year still didnt make up for it. It literally broke me. I just had to stop football for a bit.

Dortmund back in 97. Should have battered them. Still hate them so much.

More recently I think the loss to Sheffield Utd at OT last season, things were looking good. They were bottom hadn't won a game in about a year, this was the big chance for these guys to step up, show what they were made of and go top.
But nope, we see them just walking around, not doing the basics, not tracking runners just not making the required effort. Showed in that one game that a lot of these players just lacked the mentality to really get to the top.

My attitude to games recently has definitely changed. I'm kind of enjoying laughing at how inept and rubbish we are which is weird.

I hope your mom is doing well.
Yeah football does give a lot of relief in moments of turmoil, sucks that we can't even turn to that as of now.

2011 CL Final, I knew the gulf was big between us and Barcelona. But, they were simply so much better. We never really stood a chance, that was a really humbling experience and really broke me given how far away we were from the worlds' best.

2005 FA Cup Final, this loss stings the most. Even over 2011 CL Final, won't say it broke me. But, to this day remains the most bullshit game we've lost despite playing brilliant.

Post-Fergie era, there are simply too many games and moments. If I were to go down the memory lane, I'll genuinely get depressed. But, I have to say the lowest was our abysmal end to 2018/19 campaign where we were in relegation form and had given Ole a 3 year deal. Instead of sacking him, we gave him the reigns to rebuild the club with infamous "cultural reboot". I knew we had made a mistake which we'd pay for dearly, but not a lot of fans were ready to listen.

Funnily enough the post Fergie games don't bother me too much, we're just kinda shit.

Those what could have been games hurt me a ton more.
I wasn't there but I imagine the milan semi final in 69 would have broken me as well, losing the chance to defend the European cup due to bogus refereeing and Jumpstarting our decline and a 25 year wait for another league title.

Honestly it was just some nothing game under Ole. COVID had just hit and there were lockdowns so I was watching reruns. They played two games back to back.

The first was an FA Cup final game against Portsmouth I think under SAF - we lost the game but it was edge of the seat stuff with wave after wave of United attacks. Even if we lose the ball, we kept mopping it up and recycling it back into more attacks. High tempo stuff and a real determination to win from the team.

The next game they showed was a much more recent one (just a few games back or something with Ole in charge pre Bruno). We were barely even walking, let alone running. There was no plan and we had no idea what to do with the ball even if we had it.

That experience just showed how far we had fallen. Back then, even if we lost, teams were struggling to deal with us and it took great saves and hard work to keep us from winning games. Of course, we signed Bruno after that and played well in patches, but it’s just clear to me how poor we really have become. I haven’t watched us play as much since that day - just a few games here and there when I can. I believe United will really struggle to get back to a point where we are consistently beating the best. That game broke me and I’ve found it difficult to watch us ever since.

Wasn’t a game. The Greenwood news has broken me more than anything I can remember in football not even being dramatic. One of the worlds best prospects. A player that no matter how badly we played I still enjoyed watching and always felt he could do something special. To lose him in that manner is just an absolutely massive blow, I don’t think I’ll fully mentally checked in since.

During fergie era, the title winning goal by aguero and the subsequent sunderland fans reaction was worst to me. I mean we were equal on points and there was only a 8 GD separated us.

Post fergie, there were many games and the one most hurtful is Europa League final defeat. We were the better team throughout the tournament but lost.

I can never get that FA cup final against Arsenal out of my head. It didn't break me, but it's the one game which always irritates me.

Westham 1-0 Manutd 1991.
I thought the title was won for the first time in my lifetime, then those feckers, who had nothing to play for, raised their game like their life depended on it.

It still hurts me to this day. I could never understand why Fergie didn’t try and motivate his team in 2007 and send them down when they needed a win at OT (Utd were already champions). Tevez got the winner and kept them up. Neil Warnock was going mentle at the time.

Also:
2009 CL final Barcalona
2009 1-4 Liverpool.
2014. 0-3 Liverpool
And you guessed it ….
2021 0 fecking 5 Liverpool !!!!

Where do I fecking start! Plenty mentioned but others that stick out.

2002 UCL Semi-Final vs Leverkusen.

2-2 and 1-1 with 2 shots cleared off the line in the second leg. Forlans cleared in the last minute and Ole missing a great chance straight after. I think we were better then Real that year as well.

2008 FA Cup vs Portsmouth

We should've won the treble that season. We dominated them, should've had a pen early on... then VDS got injured. Kuszczak came on, give away a pen, got sent off and rest is fecking history.

2021 UEL Final vs Villarreal

I'd have sacked Ole at full time. Shambolic performance, in game management atrocious. A complete failure to lose that match.

Probably that 2-2 against Fulham. Think it hit home that day that things just won't be the same again.

During Fergie era, I'd say the CL semis against Dortmund (97) and Leverkusen (02) we threw away both games. Also the 2 Finals against Barcelona it was a harsh lesson that even though we were an excellent team we still had some way to go to match them.

CL Final 2006 was the most crushing by some distance...especially when 11 v 11 we would've possibly run away with it.
I'll never really understand this sentiment, Arsenal would have been 1 nil down as Giuly tapped into an empty net, and Barca would have just picked them off after that.
Barca struggled vs that low block that day until Iniesta fame on, but you were defending higher up with 11.

The Barca finals have 2 very different emotions for me. 09 was a even contest between 2 well matched sides, Barca played the big moments better, in 2011 it was a slaughter, a much inferior Utd team than 09 against an improved Barca and maybe the best club side ever. Result was inevitable going in, most of us were prepared for what happened, Utd overachieved that year getting to the final.

09 was a missed opportunity.

I remember that day like it was yesterday. I was pacing around the house waiting for the City game to end, and then that happened. I felt absolutely sick. I literally stayed away from any football related news for weeks after, and didn't see the Aguero goal until the following season

With the absolute apathy I have towards United these days, it would great to have those crazy emotional feelings towards football again. Come on ETH, do it!
