Carragher saying we're a small club for bringing back Ronaldo and how Liverpool wouldn't do it with Suarez for example

Guess he forgets when they brought back Robbie Fowler
Utter gobshite. He could perhaps call us a small club for holding onto Ole for as long as we did which lead to the car crash that was this season but Ronaldo has nothing to do with it. He's the only one that's actually maintained United standards this season.

Good game from him. You could see he really wanted to be involved, and the flicks were coming off tonight.

Considering the names and potential prices of strikers that are being mentioned, I wouldn't be against having him as our first choice striker for next season. I'd go as far as making him captain.

Nothing against Maguire, but I very much doubt he still has the confidence of the squad, and who better to hand over to than a player of Ronaldo's profile? There would be no questions asked, Maguire can focus on getting back the form we paid for, and Ten Hag gets to avoid the power play.

If he keeps playing like this, he should get the captain armband.

No chance he is leaving, no one is paying his wage. Unless he calls it quit.

I work in a school in Barcelona. When kids get a question right in a game, they shout “siuu”. This is in a place where he’s supposed to be hated. The most influential footballer ever.

Crazy he's challenging for the golden boot while playing for a godawful team like us, and especially considering the period he had a form drop in midseason.

Absolutely the greatest.

Brighton and Palace away left. He could do it if we show the same level of commitment and progressive play as we did tonight.

Constantly at the STD clinic.
How can you still be so arrogant when our team is in a mess.
If the Europa is our level, then goals and games there are perfectly valid.

You don't go through Ronaldo's record and say, ooh league cup, doesn't count. Battering Norwich who are crap, doesn't count etc.
It's not about arrogance it's about standards. We've spent more money than clubs finishing ahead of us and have more resources than many Europa league clubs combined.

In that context the europa league is embarrassing for us and for Ronaldo. I would gladly accept Europe league wins if we were west ham or Arsenal but our spending and facilities eclipse Liverpool. It's embarassing.

Once again a fabulous performance. Being a part of the viva Ronaldo chant in the stadium is something else.

Shame he slipped on the first attempt.

Where exactly do you people think he will leave to?

He's on a 600K a week contract. Who is going to match that?

He won't return to La Liga or Serie A.

Bayern or PSG?

Bayern couldn't afford his salary and United won't sell him to PSG after they scoop up Pogba. Not to mention Messi, Neymar et al - there is a clique - wouldn't want him there.

He has enhanced his legacy tremendously by performing at such a high level in the PL, at 37yo he could end up with a 20+ PL goal campaign.

It makes sense for him to stay another season and then leave for free if there is no UCL football/improvement.

GOAT.
He's 37...37. Been banging goals for fun at the highest level for almost 20 years.
I think he's the greatest athlete of all time. Weird that he plays in a team sport but he just is.

That would-be assist for the Mata chance was absurd.

Would have been up there for our goal of the season had it gone in.

If it didn't take the slight defelction It looked like it was going perfectly to matas left foot and I'd be shocked if he missed it

If a champion league team comes, he will go.

At this stage, money probably matters little to him unless he is asked to play for free obviously. If he can add 5 more goals into his CL record next year, it probably would be worth it for him.

I feel like he's been great in the second half of the season. Maybe he just needed to get used to the pace/physicality of the premier league for a while there?
He was great in the first 10-15 games. Saving us in champions league and league. Only had a bad period around Christmas when he had too many games in the week.

Was quality, he had a horrendous mid season but it's sandwiched by brilliance, he still offers a lot but it's to be seen whether he fits our future plans or not.

Also hasn't he already been in europa league with us before? Didn't we crash out of the ucl group stages in 2005?

Think we were bottom of the group that year

Apparently

Still keeps it vague and let's people believe what they want. Those that think he will stay will take it to mean he is saying he is not done here yet but for those like me who thinks he is off, it's just saying he is not content not being at the top

Oh yeah now I remembered it was 2012 were we gone to europa.
What a turnaround it was for us went from crashing out of the ucl and being in the shadow of Chelsea to winning the league and a ucl semi the following year.

Use him in the league next season, someone else can play there in the Europa.

The mentality we need at the club.
Knows ETH intends to gut the team and has been auditioning hard to prove he's good enough.
Shame the others dont have this drive and ambition. They would rather leave then prove to the new manager they can do it.

What team is going to go for him?

It's about trying to win the UCL rather than just compete.

Again, Bayern can't afford his wages and I don't fancy their UCL chances in the future either. And PSG won't go for him as it will be vetoed.

Who else?

His obviously not finished as a player. I think he wants to stay and make sure we get back where we belong. We will find out soon enough.
Well, he could be reading the cafe and media around for the past 6 months.

I personally don't care either way. It would be nice if he stayed and performed. Otherwise, it will be pretty depressing.
