I would've been happy with this a few years ago but not now.

This has got Fergie all over it. Instead of listening to RR who is supposed to be hired for choosing our next manager with Murtough.

We are officially into silly season now. Nothing will get decided until the summer and there is really no mileage in writing yet more articles about ETH or Poch but the journos know they need to keep writing about us so crap like this gets dredged up. I am sure SAF is a fan but I am also pretty sure that his influence has waned significantly and the fact he is a fan is not the same as pushing to hire him. I will take any bets right now that Ancelotti does not get the job.

I mean, sure if we cannot get one of our three or four targets;

Poch
ETH
Enrique
Conte

I mean, it's not he's a target, it's that if our search goes to utter shite, then we might turn to him.

If there’s a better way to identify managers than watching Premier League Years then I’m yet to hear it.

Incredible to think he managed Everton not so long ago. Surely one of the best managers around in the last few decades, doing incredible job with Real atm

He should get more recognition, but typically managers like him doesn't. He is doing a good job at real Madrid and did a better job at Everton when you see their struggles without him. I wouldn't be surprised if he wins the champion league, even though this is not the strongest real Madrid side.

He's considered one of the best managers of all time. His CV speaks for itself.

It's just that he's not the flavour of the month(or year) and he's old and been around for very long which is why you don't see much appreciation currently in today's everyday discussions.

He's the most similar manager to Ferguson(not as abrasive and more universally likeable). One of the greats for sure.

If he wins the Champions League he will be the first manager in history to win it four times. That's going right back to the inception of the competition (as the European Cup) in the mid 1950s. It would be a major achievement.

When he was at Everton, United just … sat there. As usual.
He has said he will retire when he leaves Real which is however long they will have him.
I dont think he'd have the energy to take on the rebuild we need.

Just shows how fast things can change in football. Managing Everton to mid table 10 months ago….CL final and a la Liga title a season later.

I mean when he was at Everton. Either before he went to Everton or as his escape from Everton.

Has this been done before? To make it to the final knocking out 3 of the last 4 finalists, 3 of the semi-finalists of last season. Undoubtedly 3 of the main favorites...

Only manager to ever reach 5 finals.

Have to admit I thought he was done. He was a member of the old guard, a man manager who looked past it in the age of the tactical hands on coaches. But feck me he’s turned it round. He was out to pasture at Napoli and Everton until Perez threw him a lifeline. Him and Madrid are a perfect fit.

For me he has suffered because nowadays a manager seems to need to reinvent football or something to get proper credit. He didn’t pioneer any pressing, or play weird formations etc. so I think people struggle to get his brilliance.
