Would be one of the more exciting signings we could make tbh. Ajax fans constantly rave about him and the consensus seems to be that he was their best player during this past title run.

Of all the Ajax players he could bring, him and Mazrouai (Bayern bound) would probably be the biggest boosts to us.

Would wonder how he'd handle the physicality in England but he's very technically gifted and only 20 so he's got room to fill out and bulk up.

I personally like the look of Ndicka, however he's predominantly played in a back 3/5 and defends on the front foot - might not be as suitable in a back 4 but is technically excellent too. I'd be happy with Timber as well though.

Looks a really good defender, very proactive and technically skilled. I wonder how he'd fare at CB at his height in the PL though? Call me old fashioned but I do still consider aerial ability important in centre-halves.

I've only seen highlights though really so, don't have a clue how he'd do.

I think United would be a smarter move for him at the moment than Bayern. Seems the next natural step and obviously under a manager he knows.

This is one of the most exciting things about hiring ETH. Hopefully he can give us the inside knowledge on academy players who haven't even played for Ajax yet and put us in a good position for them before they become trendy

Timber is amazing. Might not suit every team, but he has qualities that no defender has. His speed, explosivity, dribbling, agility and agression is a sight to behold.

Him and Antony from Ajax would be amazing.

Still think CB should be way down the list of priorities. We absolutely need to sign two midfielders and an attacker or two first.

Hopefully true as would 100% take him over De Ligt
I think he's better than de Ligt already. Far less mistakes in him and better on the ball.

De Ligt mainly gives you more goals from corners and aerial presence.

If you're Ten Hag, it really isn't. The way the ball is progressed from the back is fundamental to his philosophy.

We’re set to go into the new season with Maguire, Varane and Lindelof as CB options. It’s definitely a priority

So sign some midfielders and fullbacks because they are much more detrimental to that style of play over our CBs. Maguire, Lindelof and Varane are all capable ball playing CBs.

I still don't think Bailly will leave but even if he does we could probably trust a youth player as 4th option. If we can get Timber for cheap then sure, but he won't be cheap.

Timber, Nunez and DeJong would be a fantastic start to the summer window. Then possibly a few sales to finance a move for RW and another CM and things are already looking much better.

CB is definitely a priority. Theres a good chance Jones and Bailly go and that leaves us with Maguire, Lindelof and Varane as options, hardly fills you with confidence especially when Varane can’t stay fit for more than 5 minutes and the less said about Maguire the better.

I disagree.

De Ligt was younger and had like 2 mistakes in his whole time at Ajax.
It only became a narrative because of that stupid debut blind gave him for the national team, in a decisive qualifier at the age of 17.

He has been making mistakes for Juventus and the dutch NT. He has caused so many pens, and on the ball he is very average compared to Timber.

I'd say his centreback partner Martinez was actually better over the season, but he's definitely too short for the premier league

then again, I do actually feel like Martinez is better in the air, hilariously

I agree that Timber is another level on the ball vs De Ligt.

De Ligt is definitely the better defender though, no matter how calm Timber is.

De Ligt would shine in the premier league.

If he wasn't similar in profile to Maguire I'd 100% recommend him over Timber for United

There isn`t a single youth player in the CB position anywhere near ready to be trusted in the first team. You`re massively overestimating how reliable our CB options are we definitely need a new face and whether he`s cheap or not Timber is a massive talent we have to sign.
Also Bailly will definitely leave. He doesn`t want to stay and ETH likely won`t fancy him too no reason for him to stay or for the club to keep him.

From my limited knowledge and basically what I read on here Timber can also fill in at RB, so it’s two birds with one stone there.

Can Martinez be a DM?
don't think he handles quickly enough to receive the ball in tighter spaces like that.
In fact Timber probably is better in that regard.

Martinez might be a better passer though, though it's close.

There's no way Ten Hag would sign Martinez as DM for United when he hasn't considered him there at all since his first season at the club (2019-20).
More likely that he just signs Alvarez (please god)

If I'm reading the stats right, he's 9th percentile for aerial % duels won compared to other centre backs, and below 6ft...

It's a worry. People will come at me with "but the modern game.." as if the opposition putting in crosses and long balls no longer exists. I suspect he'll be eaten alive in the premier league.

De Ligt is a tad overrated. Too heavy (he's a tank), too error prone for a cb.
Stil a great defender. Don't forget he's still only 22.

Timber rarely makes a mistake; great defender, calm as ice, technically supreme. Yes, he's short. But other than that ... he's the real deal.

If he joins he'll be a utility man who is used in many positions. I don't thinking it would be as big an issue if he can play at RB or DM

Terms agreed however they need to agree a fee with Ajax. Apparently That’s the latest.

If you see the criticism Maguire gets, imagine what De Ligt would get here

I think Timber is the better player, plus having a player that can play CB RB is an added bonus.

Is that really what we're crying out for? I thought we'd have been after a new first choice centre back, preferably one who is comfortable on the left side of CB, preferably to partner Varane.

I know Maguire's 80m price tag and captaincy makes the centre back situation incredibly awkward for us.

If we sign this guy will he be an instant starter? Obviously we need a starting CB to play alongside Varane but I just can’t see us cutting out Maguire after the money we’ve spent on him. We’re not like city who can have 50+m players sitting on the bench. Suppose the new cb will be playing a lot of games with lindelof and Maguire anyway as Varane gets injured a lot.
