Trouble was, a lot of fans showed an inability to grasp the nuance of why he ‘failed’.
He was a world class player when we bought him, surrounded by mediocrity and an ageing midfield with players like Bastian Schweinsteiger.

The total cost of this disastrous exercise, was not just the transfer fee.
According to the BBC, 6 years of wages, add-ons, bonuses, Raiola’s fees, plus the transfer fee, comes to the princely sum of……
£254 million !!!

Quick question....over the five year period can you name 5 better players from our squad. In terms of performance and impact.

I'd say:
Bruno
DDG
*Zlatan (I know he got injured but he was class)
*Ronny

Last two get stars because it was only over 1 season.

I'm genuinely drawing a blank.

P.s. my mate started this argument and I'm just wanting help

Shows how shit we've been by having a top player and not being able to give him a fixed position, or when a decent DM when it was clearly needed.

I think since SAF left, this Pogba saga has shown how fecked up we are.

Good luck to him, go and win some trophies and win the WC again lad!

In terms of individual seasons, Zlatan and Herrera (arguably Valencia) outperformed him in 16/17, De Gea in 17/18, Martial, Rashford and Fernandes in 19/20, Fernandes, Rashford and Shaw in 20/21. Comfortably our best player in 18/19 and about as crap as anyone else this season.

None of the players who've been around the entire five years have outperformed him over the entire period, but that's mostly because they've all gone off the boil themselves lately.

Yup for all those years of wanting out and dreaming about Real Madrid and having his agent mouth off at the club at every given opportunity. Some loyalty that.

He never had a fixed position because he was a liability in all of them.

He's also the only player who seems to require world class players around him to unlock his abilities.

How many world cups did any of those win?
One less than Kleberson.

Rashford had been our best outfield player since Fergie retired overall, Zlatan was here for one season.

Just because you're athletic doesn't mean your talented. Paul Scholes was far more talented. Long passing, positioning, short integrate passing, shooting, controlling a game. Pogba is big, strong and hits a decent long pass, that's it.

United minus the Glazers

Nice that, had him and Solskjaer had their ways we'd have been saddled with him for many more years
the players must have enjoyed pushing Ole around. Almost feels like they took advantage of his niceness

His PR team(s) is working overtime to control the narrative and drum up some publicity with his new Amazon documentary in mind. Can’t hide the fact that he’s a flop and not worth the transfer fee and wages.

The disinterest amongst most fans speaks volumes.

It’s United’s fault for agreeing these contracts.

Assume the loyalty bonus is to see out the full contract regardless of whether you renew.

Roy Keane: That’s his job!

The inevitable has been finalised.

Unfortunately the shoe never fit for Utd and Pogba.

A parting of ways is best for all.

For many reasons this didn’t work but I think Pogba is returning to Italy, similarly like Lukaku will, as Serie A suits some players a lot more than others, while the EPL is more suited to others.

The slower pace and more space will suit Pogba.

Shame, but we both need to move on. Thank God we didn’t get rinsed for that £400k a week that we supposedly offered.

Sad but he will be an asterisk in the history of Manchester United. Will just fade into the background and when he does eventually retire in Italy, nobody nor the united fans would have noticed. Some might but would have wonder of a wasted talent whilst at united

Our social media team really are tone deaf aren't they

Glad him and JLingz are gone. Probably best for both parties. Actually definitely.

Now to get rid of the rest.

Loyalty bonus will always be for seeing out your contract.
Yeah well I mean I understand the concept. I think it's a bit silly to pay a loyalty bonus if they leave on a free. I presume it's put in there as historically the player was either sold or they renewed their contract.
