So apart from having to convince a reluctant De Jong to join us and meet his and Barcelona's financial demands, we are also waiting on Barcelona waiting on Bayern to find a replacement to Lewa? :nervous:

Just. Move. On. Bloody hell, what's wrong with this club?
Are you guys really serious? Do you think the guys who are dealing with transfers are that stupid to go and talk to player and Barcelona for some time now if De Jong would be reluctant to not join and he's constantly saying no? At max he could be unsure.

Nothing is going to happen till International fixtures are over. These newspapers and twitter accounts are just repeating the same things to get attention

Wow nice way for Barcelona to treat a player who’s played almost every game, loves (loved) the club and always works hard. I’m starting to dislike them intensely.

One could stay and make them pay full salary for a few more years just to feck them over. But better to get out of that shiitclub.

Has he signed yet? I'm refusing to get dragged into the soap opera of a classic stretched out United transfer target that ultimately tells us to feck off

Of course, Spanish press write what Barca and Real need/want them to write. Remember when Real wanted to get rid of Bale, doesn't speak Spanish, can't comunicate with teammates, blah. Barca needs money so let's tell whole world he is shit, but not shit enough because we want €80m for him.
This isn't true of Madrid. Press very much doesn't follow Florentino, that's why he's got Pedrerol

MD and Sport on the other hand are pretty much Barcelona fanzines, especially Sport. They'll write what Laporta tells them to write

Constantly at the STD clinic.
For all the people that mention Di Maria, Fabregas went through something similar at Barca, wanted to stay and ended up at Chelsea.

I'm sure all the Chelsea fans regret that signing.

I reckon he's already been convinced and the next update we get is we've agreed a fee with Barcelona.
He was instrumental in their league win if I'm not wrong?

Transfer does worry me quite a bit, I know he's good but is he 75m good?

Sancho I rated more like a 50m player and I'm fairly sure that's a more accurate valuation for him.

The fact that we're going after mostly ex-Ajax players does worry me a bit also, as to whether we're going for players because they fit or mostly because our managers knows them. If it's the latter then that's not ideal because it screams of poor alternatives scouting, which is something that plagued us under Ole.

The bigger issue of course is that we at a minimum need a DM, CM and either a RW or a forward, and spending 75m on one player is a huge chunk of our budget. If we were getting say Pedri or Vinicius for that I'd be happy, but I just get the sense we're overpaying for a player like Frenkie purely because Barca overpaid for him to begin with.

We have been reliably linked to one ex Ajax player and one current one.

We wouldn't do that if we weren't as broke as we are. The situation at Barcelona is crítical. If we don't get enough we won't be able to sign anybody and will have to continue playing with Busquets, Alba, Pique... Without any proper replacement.

- Very few people will have an idea of what is actually happening behind the scenes, so the press speculation is exactly that, speculation. Hence conflicting reports.

- The idea that it is outrageous that we have to convince him to come is outrageous in itself. We just finished 6th, we have been a veritable mess, very publicly.

- People treat footballers as though they are inanimate commodities, when they are in fact people. The player is suddenly being asked to move countries, change jobs, relocate children and family, Move to a different culture.

- It is natural the player wants assurances over long term security and planning, as well as his role.

Sancho was one of the best wingers in world football at Dortmund. Absolutely no chance he was worth 50 million when you take into consideration age, potential and performance when he was there. He might be worth nearer that now after having a difficult season at United. FDJ was stand out in an ajax team that overachieved, hence why Barca paid that money for him, which was nowhere near as ridiculous as Dembele, Coutinho fees!

Can't spell Mkhitaryan

Frenkie de Jong: what he likes the most on the pitch, going to get the ball behind and take it out, is not what Xavi expects. The technician does not see him as a pivot but more as an interior. In fact, he wants him to wait for the ball to reach him and to break from the second line.
