Those quotes are exactly the types you'd expect to hear out of the Barca president. What do people expect him to say? The negotiations are ongoing.
By the end of the week, he’ll have sold him, blame it on the old regime due to wages and have brought in Lewa to appease the fans.
We’re defo in a situation where none of the likely 3 clubs involved want to blink first.

They need to wrap this up quickly. One way or another. Beyond a joke.

But for those on the negative side of the fence. Remember Bayern’s quotes on Lewa. It’s pretty normal.

The only time anyone needs to worry is when multiple sources put out that we're walking away or don't see any point in further negotiations.

That means we've briefed the media and we're out of the running. Until that point, why the meltdown?
Because it feeds in to their belief that everything is shit and hopeless, so it's easy to believe

The club need it desperately now with the news about Ronaldo.

People are negative.

Absolutely nothing whatsoever has changed in any way. It's a negotiation stance FFS
Exactly!
It seems this place thrives on negative news. Anything positive is just discarded, but negativity is believed, no matter who says it.

We'd know for sure if we'd walked away, we'd brief the media to put a stop to any further stories coming out

If he stays there’s no saving face from the club - it’s exactly the same as when we spent the whole window chasing Cesc only to end up with Fellaini on the last day.
you can’t go in to these sorts of negotiations with any doubt that the player wants to come or that the club is willing to sell. If there are you simply Don’t engage and move to other targets.
Also considering he’s probably the best player that was (seemingly) available, we are well and truly fecked in midfield.

I'm sure even Barca fans don't believe Laporta. He's already proven to be flexible with the truth as shown with Messi.

United would have gotten wind and briefed to the usual UK journos surely if something was going on.

We shouldn't be wasting time on such a complicated transfer when we have so many areas to address ffs.

Messi didn't stay. "Doing everything we can" + "he wants to stay", makes Laporta a liar

I’d say that justifies a thread lock anyway

Barcelona are fecking drama queens, aren't they? Nothing ever straight forward, just drama, while sniffing their own "mes que un club" farts.

still expect this transfer to happen, mind you. Just your typical posturing from Laporta.

Thoughts on this one @Sandikan

Why?
There's been better days in transfer windows haven't there.

There's always a chance Laporta's stuff is the usual phoney war sh!te, and Ronaldo is just "frustrated" and can be turned round.
But I'm nervous on both scenarios, as if we don't significantly upgrade the squad, even if Ten Hag magics better performances out of the rest we're going to be massively hamstrung.

And there's no guarantee he can get those performances anyway.
