Eriksen is a quality quality player who without doubt will be a first teamer. He’s a technically gifted player and deadball specialist.

I'm getting 'man who died on the field last year has longer medical process' vibes.

I don't know if he is going to maintain the same level but during the international window, he was consistently the best player on the field, somehow he looks more like the 2016-17 Eriksen than the player he was at Inter or during his last season at Tottenham. But then again he is not old, so it's not that surprising.

Signing an attacking midfielder when it’s nowhere among the biggest issue in the team (if at all) and the same for LB feels like the dentition of a scattergun approach.
Yeah. Also a part of my concern.

Fine. He'll probably be a squad pl
Keep in mind we've lost a lot of experience in Matic, Mata, and even Pogba. We can't just have 23 year old players, it's always nice to mix in some experienced players.
Eriksen will add the experience, he's great at freekicks and corners, where we've been poop for years, especially corners.
Also real world isn't like games, not accusing you of thinking that, but intelligent players like Eriksen can cover more positions than many others can.
Talking about intelligence, i always thought it was a shame that two of our slowest players, Mata and Matic, clearly had the best football brains in the squad, so it's nice to add some more of that, especially in the midfield.

Personally i think Eriksen will start most matches, and be one of our best players the coming season. Calling the POTY of the teamnow before the season starts!
Yep. Great players are versatile. You're talking to the Scotland fan who wanted to play Andy Robertson as an anchorman... Still do, actually.

Yeah. I agree about replacing the experience that we've lost. It is a squad game and we certainly need numbers, but I don't think this is the way to go.

l.o.l I'm bookmarking this page. See you at the end of the season. ;)

I was saying the same for a long time, but I'm hopeful Erik knows we need at least GK/LB/RB/CB/DM/CM/ST/RW and that the order of those depend on the ones available on the market.

Eriksen was a free squad option too good to pass on who in no way should exclude other signings. If we built our team around Frenkie and had no backup/rotation it'd be suicide.

Might not be the biggest issue, but we have got rid of Mata, Lingard and Pogba. They are not all starters of course, and not all play the same position, but they are all attacking players who usually play somewhere in the midfield.
Sure our squad has been bloated the last few years, but replacing some of them with better players can only be positive.
The only 10s we have are Bruno and Donny, Donny has not been good enough. Also Eriksen can, and probably will play more as an 8, and i don't mind him taking McT or Fred's spot in the squad.

He’s not just an attacking mid though is he? I’m sure it’s been discussed plenty of times. He also fits the new style and philosophy.

It’s an absolute no brainier on a free given the amount of players we have lost in the summer too.

It’s the position he’s played for most of his career. He might’ve been wide on paper at Spurs but in role he was nothing like a wide player.

A lot of talk about what he might potentially bring, without much confirmation of where the feck this dude actually is…. I mean, where the feck is this dude? Have we sent him on a medical Krypton Factor or something? Does he have to emerge from the Amazon after a 2 week survival course to prove his fitness?

I trust EtH and love what I've seen so far, but I can't help getting the feeling that the signing is out of pity (and Ajax connections) than that of necessity.
We’re not helping a homeless child off the street

We had to convince him to join us over other offers!

Offers? Plural?

So, we had to convince him to join us over Brentford and the Job Center? Yeah. There's no pull like Manchester United pull. ;)

He still cannot land a 747 at the old Hong Kong airport. Once he's done that we will see him and Gordon Burns in no time.

I reckon we’ve just forgotten about it. He agreed to sign and then we all just fecked off to try and sign Frenkie and the tiny CB and he’s just sitting in a room somewhere wondering why no one’s come to take his picture in a kit yet

Just found out Burns is a United fan so your initial question may be a lot closer to the truth:

I mean, we did that weird thing with Varane where no one knew whether he’d actually signed until he walked out on the pitch… maybe he’s seen we’re playing Brentford as our second game and decided to just chill out till then. Let the mountain come to him. He’s just Captain Toming the feck out of his garden in the mean time.

Are the doctors counting his blood vessels and arteries?!
they’re just shoving him half a foot closer to a microwave every three minutes and seeing if he keels over. luckily it’s lunch time and shaw’s using it for a couple of hours to cook rustler’s burgers.

do you think his collapse and subsequent pacemaker is all a ruse for some good old fashioned charity fraud?

Because the guy died on a football pitch not long ago so I would suggest a proper and thorough medical is needed, with a heart specialist on site, to put him through the tests. Most of, if not all our guys are out on tour, and he’s probably still on holiday. We might even be waiting for certain test results to come back before we even do a medical. Who knows, but it will be announced when it’s announced.
I know perfectly well what happened to him last year. That is why I said deal agreed PENDING a medical - and it could be tests and medical being as thorough as needed and taking as long as it takes. No one would expect anything different.

The club could still announce it though.

I’m not explicitly saying that. Im just saying if I did it, I’d probably do it exactly like that.

Im just asking questions.

You can Mockney all you like but these players will get us into that top 4 place this coming season. Much better class of players being brought in this season.

He’s at a different stage of his career. He’s played deeper for club and country in recent times and his skill set allows it
Pretty sure he played deeper at times for spurs as well and was really good at it. Think he can really shine in cm for us as well given the right environment.

Why would they announce it, only for him to then fail a medical and them then have to rescind the offer and make another announcement? Why can't you just fecking wait?

Oh no, potentially two announcements required - however would the club cope?

Also why can’t I have a fecking opinion that differs from yours? Ignore my fecking posts if you are that fecking bothered about my fecking impatience!

Am I doing this right, get all sweary when someone annoys me?

I still believe that Eriksen will only be signed if FDJ doesn’t come to United, and that’s what is holding up us signing/confirming Eriksen.

Ten Haag stated on the press conference that Donny was best utilized behind the strikers and by that we can assume that he will be a backup for Bruno.
Doesn’t make sense to sign Eriksen as a 10/attacking midfielder to be a backup for Bruno and to compete with Donny when our shortcomings are much more pressing in other roles or areas on the pitch.
It could however make sense to sign Eriksen as an advanced playmaker from a deeper position but then again that’s somewhat the exact same role as FDJ will play.
Eriksen in a more holding role makes little to now sense if you ask me (not that anyone has..).

That being said; a midfield of Martinez in the holding role, Eriksen as an advanced playmaker, and Bruno in the 10 role is something that I would be ok/happy with.
I suspect that you are really good at the Rubik Cube.

Why do you need the club to prematurely announce something? Are you losing sleep over it? Is in on your mind 24/7? Explain the levels of insecurity you feel within yourself in a way that normal people will understand.

The deal hasn't been announced because it's not done yet, it's that simple. How much of a meme club do you have to be to prematurely announce a player to appease fans like yourself only to have to go back on the announcement, un-print the shirts, refund the fans that bought the shirts, photoshop him out of the promotional material etc? I'm sure you'd be in here, up in arms at that point: "Why did they announce this before the medical! Joke!".

Be as sweary as you want, you're in here asking a bunch of people who know as little as you do about why a deal hasn't been announced yet. Go and touch grass for a bit.

Rumour on a YouTube video is that he’s failed the medical. But don’t quote it. Just putting it on here if it starts to circulate and happens to be true.
