Look, he'd be a great signing but you can't help wonder if he'll have his heart in it at United and end up being a flop. On the flip side if there's one place he could still prove to be top notch after all this shite it would be with a manager he's previously excelled with. Fingers crossed it gets done soon!
Often times not getting what your heart or head wants is the greatest motivation of all.

Not sure what you’re replying to but I’ve said nothing of the sort  I’ve said he wants to stay
Ah yes my bad. I didn’t quite read the part where you making up things out of thin air and claiming to have first hand knowledge of what Frenkie is thinking. The fact that he wants to stay no matter the finance situation. As you were - carry on.

I mean this really is absurd by barca. Why any professional athlete would look at how they’re treating FDJ rn and want to play there is beyond me. You owe the man money for work done, pay up.

Apologies, I'm too useless to figure out how to embed the Tweet I originally saw this from (It's linked here though) but apparently Ferran Torres has recently added #FT21 to his Instagram bio. (It's definitely there but I cannot confirm if it's been added recently)

For anybody who might not have figured out the tenuous reason one might get excited by this, Frenkie De Jong is currently Barca's number 21.

Barca are more ruthless than Bryan Ferry/David Coverdale combined. "Just leave, leeeave".

Told hi
Did you tell him/her you'd roll over and let them tickle your tummy? My fat cat does that when he's hungry. Suffice to say, cats are ingenious bastards. My 1st thought in your circumstances, would be to tell them to feck right off or you're chopping nuts off. You may want to add, your nuts aren't part of the problem
told him I like to be kissed before being fecked

The shirt number thing will be bullshit. It wouldn't happen that quick.

Chelsea put in a bid for Raphinha and left it there for Barca to overcome, but this trying to get de Jong over the line is the strangest transfer attempt I have seen in years. Barca is a shit club that is digging their grave. Happy that Chelsea made them severely over pay for Raphinha.

Nor would a player get involvef in forcing out another player unless there was some serious issues between the two.

we shall see!

the situations aren’t the same. They didn’t need to sell Dembele to sign other players like they are De Jong.

If he refuses and ruins their plans, I can’t see your management being happy at all. he will be a scape goat.
The situation was exactly the same. They needed to free masa salarial for the registration of Torres, Traore and Aubameyang as they do now to register new players. Dembele was the easiest option, since he had a huge wage and had only 6 months left until he became a free agent. So Laporta's board pressured him hard, but he stood firm and decided to stay. He became the most important player in the second half of the season and now even extended his contract for another 2 years, walking on the pitch with Laporta like they are best mates.
Football life is very fast and no one remembers yesterday's words. So it's still completely up to Frenkie to stay or to leave, no matter the pressure. And I'm certain Frenkie is intelligent enough to see through all this.

Here is one and I still stand by it.
One thing is to pressure through the press, the other is actually doing it. Dembele also got a lot of pressure in winter, was threatened through the press with the bench for half a year, was even excluded 2 weeks from the games to sort out his future. He still decided to stay and was part of the team again. If you think barca will leave a player out who costs them €30m a year, you are very naive. If Frenkie decides to stay despite all the pressure, he will be a normal part of the team like Dembele last season.
Different situations no? Barcelona weren't trying to sell Dembele and nobody wanted to buy him as a free agent so he had no choice really. If Chelsea/PSG matched his wage demands he'd be gone no practical solution was offered to either side.
Barcelona have received €75m+€10m in COLD HARD CASH and a chance to wipe out close to €40m in wages. Frenkie can dig his heels all he wants but Barcelona themselves are not letting go of such money in their current financial predicament so don't be shocked if they actually apply something practical themselves and Frenkie staying likely does him more harm than good

Imagine being owed money by your club after they forced you to defer wages only to see them chasing big stars on big money all summer like a dog with a fresh steak at the same time...

The general public are probably a day or two behind the real story in a transfer saga like this. Anything that was decided was most likely decided yesterday or the day before when Murtough and co were in Barcelona. The relevant players and agents will have been told the situation between the clubs after the meeting. Nothing else of substance will be leaked until FDJ has agreed to come for the medical. It looks like Barca will drive him there themselves…

I really have to laugh at the notion that we haven't been given some indication that he would come. We went for Timber and Timber wanted to stay for World Cup reasons (feck off LVG) and we immediately ended that pursuit. You think the club didn't get some signal from Ali Dursun when they were doing the Malacia deal? Come on. Guy was literally at United's offices to finalize Malacia's deal.

This is all optics. It's a staring contest between Laporta/Barcelona (Same Laporta that said on record FDJ was not for sale and now has agreed to sell him 2 weeks later) and FDJ/Dursun. FDJ can't officially agree to terms or it probably voids anything owed to him. Barcelona 100% adds loyalty clauses like that because just look at the state of them.

Alright so the dudes at Managing Barca are saying that Ferran Torres has had the #FT21 in his Instagram bio for a while; would sort of make sense since it was his shirt number at City.

(This would have to be an old snapshot of his Instagram account if it is indeed one at all, since he now has 2.8 million followers)
