Never said anything about a dream club though? So you’d be happy with signing a player that doesn’t wanna play for us?
No, but I don't think de Jong doesn't wanna play for us.

I believe he'd prefer to stay at Barca in a perfect World, however due to his dream going tits up he'll be delighted to be back playing with a manager he has a great relationship, he'll be delighted to play in his preferred position (something he hinted at in a recent Netherlands post match interview) and he'll love being at a super club.

In much the same way Robben didn't wanna leave Madrid, yet took the Bayern opportunity with both hands, loved his career there and ended up a Bayern legend.

Tbh Fred should accept to give FDJ his shirt number. He loves that number very very much

The least that @FCBarcelona_cat can do with a good guy and a good professional like @DeJongFrenkie21 is to treat him as he deserves, without pressuring him or criticizing him privately.
Surely he will make the right decision by prioritizing his interests but also thinking about the club.

I have a question and you can call my very naive but just in case FDJ refuses to move and takes a pay cut. Which other midfielder has similar or better attributes than him? I am asking because united must have a plan B and I am hoping that its not Fillaini part 2.

Shameless. I use to respect Barca so much but shocked now how low they've sunk.
Man I used to dislike them (more than Real) because of their humble brags (i.e. in interviews by Xavi and the like as players ten years ago), but now it's just sad how they've some type of clumsy mafioso-ran club. They're almost becoming the cute underdogs now by how horrible they are at their under the-carpet-business organization.

I might have to support them, since that's where Atleti comes from (and quite possibly still is :nervous:)

I'm glad Barca being run by terrible human beings is being given some attention in this fiasco.

If they want him out and still refuse to pay the deferred wage, then i can understand why FDJ isn’t budging.

Its funny that Barca are pressuring him to leave whilst they still owe him money. how about you pay him first then ask to see if he wants to leave?

I wonder how it actually works. Every few minutes there is a new update about 'more pressure' etc but the reality is probably that FDJ is sat at home watching TV completely relaxed.

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.
Do people genuinely believe Barcelona have only today sat down with FDJ and told him he’s not needed and should leave? One fecking hell of a coincidence that his agent has just happened to line up an 85m euro move for him isn’t it? This whole thing is being drip fed like a soap opera.

Imagine agreeing a contract to pay your employee a specific wage, and then thinking you do not have too. Truly mindblowing stuff here. Why would any player want to even transfer to them at this point

You have to admit, if it didn't influence United directly, we'd all be rooting for him to stay and feck them over good and proper
Course but I want to see a world class midfield playing for Manchester United next time im at the ground, couldn't be arsed about Barca.

To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if he'd want to leave a place that still forcefully plays a Busquets who's sleepy during half the games, but it gets forgotten after highlighting one game where he plays well again. When he was bought it seemed their plan was to put him next to Busquets who was already heading in a less consistent direction, slowly phasing him out, but they won't replace him for another 5 years it seems

Xavi seems to be hinting at it, but it was kinda sad how previous coaches seemed to afraid to take off Pique and Busquets. When Pique returned from injury last season, their entire structure broke down, which they just seemed to gain under Koeman (sometime mid-season). I know hierarchy tends to help a lot of teams, but Pique's impatience and non-composed behaviour towards his teammates and Busquets' inconsistency really seems to hold them back a lot (imo).

Hope Frenkie gets to show his skills at Man Utd, he can do a lot and while I thought he'd have great assets for an Iniesta-type role, the left half of a midfield two(ish) really seems to turn him into a world beater. He can do a job at 8-10 type roles, but you can see his instincts drag him elsewhere too much in many games. Allow his instincts to rule and he will be excellent.

So even if Barça is treating him horribly, I wouldn't be surprised to see him want to move to a club and coach that will use him to his skills rather than trying to fit the Frenkie triangle into an Iniesta square. Hey look, there's a 4-2-3-1 club who just assigned ETH.

Pretty much. Interestingly he doesn’t offer an opinion of what Frenkie wants either
Pol Ballus is going to push the Barca narrative, which I expect. But it seems pretty clear that the player will join us but does want the money that is owed to him, which has been the stumbling block.

Poor bastard. Planned a wonderful holiday to propose to his girlfriend and instead of coming back to congratulations, he got "piss off, we've already emptied your locker"

Can't wait to see him playing for us

Hopefully that’s the case with him. Don’t think anyone would wanna leave Barca to be honest just because of the city. There a mess of a club though so he should be jumping at the chance to join us, under a manager he knows well and played his best football with. I think this will get done purely because Barca are showing him the door. He’ll be much more appreciated at us and like you said he’ll like playing in his preferred position and take the opportunity with both hands.
