You're not classing Martinez as done?
has he signed? had the club announced his arrival? Is it Saturday when it's still Friday? So, no. I'm not because it isn't. It's not over until the Dutchman sings, or something like that...

Come on mate, it's as done as it can be without the official announcement. We're 3 down with 1 very big one to go plus any bonuses, in my opinion

I always wait.... possibly since that awful moment for RvN when we looked to have him and he broke down in the medical first time round. Possibly even before that

If I had to pick a spot to fill after FDJ and Martinez, I would pick the DM.

RB - we can give another go to Dalot and maybe even AWB.

Striker - R7 stays and hopefully Martial is rejuvenated

RW - Sancho or Eriksen with Rash and Elanga covering LW.

For the DM, the only player who can play there is McT and maybe Martinez. Martinez is needed at CB and McT doesn’t do enough in that role to cover for FDJ.

Yup I'd like to see a holding midfielder and a real no.9. If it's Christmas come early, a versatile fullback would be nice, otherwise it's out with the begging letter to Mr G Neville, c/o Sky Sports :)

Fabrizio confirmed it. It's as good as done. Bite!

Still hoping Laird gets a shot at RB, in terms of a DM getting that impression Erik doesn't want one, prefers a playmaker sitting deep instead.

Not ruling out a move for Antony on RW before the window shuts, no idea what we aren't trying to get a backup ST too though.

With Eriksen, Malacia and Martinez done we could feasibly have signed no new starters yet.

Maybe Martinez will start.

If FDJ signs (well, before 2025), I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him start the Brighton game alongside Eriksen. I don't think ETH has signed Eriksen to make up numbers. As for Malacia, it's likely that by the time we get to August, Shaw will have fallen over a pebble and injured himself

Supports
Erik ten Hag
2 midfielders, 1 CB (left footed), and a left back (since Telles is not good enough to cover Shaw’s injury prone issue). Exactly what I wanted in the top 4 priority areas that require improvement in the new manager’s first summer transfer window. Although, I was expecting 2 deeper midfielders but Eriksen played deep in brentford so I wouldn’t be surprised if we see ETH plays him deep alongside FDJ like FDJ and Schone in 18/19.

In a slower league with less physical demand yes, but I doubt he can make it in the Prem again. Lakaka was a god there and was/is a joke with us and Chelsea.

Eriksen, Martinez, De Jong (if he signs) and Malacia is a decent window. We've replaced outgoings with more quality (Eriksen and De Jong brings more to the table than Mata, Lingard and Pogba), and allows us to ship off the likes of Telles, Bailly, Axel and a couple others for some actual exciting talent.

My only worry is that we haven’t added any real quality in the first 11, but maybe ETH thinks there's enough quality to work with without having to bring any stars in, except for De Jong in midfield where we were crying out for some class.

Striker is definitely an area you'd be worried about if Ronaldo leaves (maybe even if he stays?). Is ETH placing faith in Martial? I think there's not many options out there that are better then him anyway, and available this window, so I wouldn't be against that course of action and wait for a proper talent like Osimhen to become available.

Attacking wise, we'll have Rashford, Sancho, Martial, Bruno and Elanga if Ronaldo leaves. Definitely looks a little light in terms of depth and goals. Feel like we probably need another versatile wide player with the ability to chip in with double figures throughout the season.

Yeah a forward who can play on the right side but also offer cover down the middle as well

Yeah pretty much what I was thinking too. Nobody really comes to mind. Antony would cost a fortune and I don't think can play down the middle.

A player in the profile of Zaniolo would be interesting, but would he very unlikely and probably very expensive. Tough market for attacking talent.

Eriksen could well start the season with no deep lying playmaker alternative to De Jong sorted yet

Yeah a very barren market after our two bitter rivals took away the top two options

I was only joking although I do think he'd have been brilliant in a second season for us had he not had that injury

presumably why Liverpool pushed hard for Nunez this season and made sure Salah signed new contract

Who is the world class attacker then?
Thats’s the big question:confused: Think Ronaldo leaves and United is on desperate hunt after his replacement.

Maybe a Dutch package deal (Barcelona)?

Bring Memphis home again?
His situation in Barca for doesn’t look very promising after the arrival of Aubameyang Raphinha and Lew. Barca obviously try to offload him, and the price tag is reportedly £17m https://www.express.co.uk/sport/foo...Memphis-Depay-Robert-Lewandowski-Raphinha/amp

I think the timing for a return to United is very good, both for him and United. He is probably not “world class” right now, but for £17m it’s mostly an upside, and maybe United and ETH can make him a world class attacker again.

With Ronaldo (if staying), Sancho, Rashford, Martial, Bruno and Eriksen…. I think we have enough goals in the team!! Too bad the other guy fecked up his career else it would have been no issue even with Ronaldo leaving!!

I personally want a proper DM and FDJ…. With other options, I think we have a strong midfield!!

Backline: With Martinez, We will be way better!!

I would have preferred to sell Telles and AWB and bring a world class RB but let’s c!!

This will give us a strong chance of Top 4!!

It's a average window thus far. For it be considered a good one Antony / FDJ must be signed. If Rashford / Sancho are unavailable or even in bad form the attack is light Antony would provide good depth in attacking areas as well as a more dynamic approach as he's a fast direct wide player.

FDJ should be a crucial acquisition to avoid the club chasing him in a further window. I feel if the club finish top four, Murtough should throw his hat into the mix for Bellingham next summer.

Think it's time to accept that Erik doesn't like playing with a pure DM, he seems to prefer more of a Deep Lying Playmaker

With our current 3 signings and outgoings considered I'd say we are at a 4/10 window.

Still probably got a worse team than this time last season when you consider everything we have lost. (Greenwood included)

At the very least a top drawer CM/DM Is required.

If we finished the window with this or go into the season with this business it would be very poor.

As long as we keep pushing on and sign 1-3 more then we can have a bit of hope for next season.

Also if Ronaldo is sold he needs replacing of course

Yeah, this window being a success revolves around being able to sign De Jong, who I think Ten Hag wants to build around.

Now that the Martinez deal is official, do you guys think we’re only going for DeJong or are we also going to go for one more player?

I don't think we've got enough firepower, but I also don't think Memphis would bring any!
