Yeah they definitely don't want him staying.

I knew straight off last night that he'd be one of the subs. They're basically just messing with him now in order to try and pressure him into handing in a transfer request in my opinion

If United/Dutch fans are all shocked or angered by the financial immorality of what Barca is doing to both FdJ and the wild, 'party like its 1999' transfer spending; I wonder what Real Madrid management and fans are thinking? Or they are just expecting all this to end badly in the short term?
I think their transfer spending is a bit unwise, especially given their financial troubles.

From Real Madrid's experience, I don't think you need a great 25-man squad to win titles. I'd go further and say it's basically unsustainable in the long run to have such a good squad; players will want to move on for more minutes sooner rather than later. So it's just a waste of time and money. It's worse if so many players are new, since you won't have as much opportunity to help them adapt.

They played him in midfield though. :(

I do think this is on though! The thin veil of "we want him to stay" is slowly dropping.

With the way he’s being treated by his “dream club”, you have to wonder how all this shit is going to affect de Jong mentally and how it will affect his relationship with a future club.
It’s kinda like coming home from work and finding your clothes all over the front lawn, crudely shredded with a pair of scissors. Your high school sweetheart wife has changed all the locks and is already shacked up with a new bloke and is refusing to tell you what you’ve actually done wrong. Even worse she is even refusing to give you any money from the house you’ve shared the mortgage with over the past 5 years but is still telling everyone how much she loves you. Without anywhere to live you go down the pub for a pint and see a girl who’s always fancied and you had a fling with a few years ago. Or something.

Buckle up muppets. They’re telling him to leave again. This time it’s serious.

Surely that would put Barca in a much weaker position legally for not paying the 17 million.

Why when they have already accepted our bid
A transfer request isn’t needed

Unless they’re saying ‘here’s your 17m now leave immediately”
Then he should ask for every single bonuses included in his contract. La Ser is pretty reliable and maybe it means that Barcelona and De Jong found an agreement but a formal notice means that De Jong can demand every single bonuses remaining in his contract.

Laporta is doing it to get bums on the seats ie sell season tickets? Or for political/election?

Could you imagine if "officially" was actually Laporta holding a press conference and asking him to take 7m and leave?

I know he is very composed on ball but just seen highlights of game last night and it looked like he didn't care. Strolled around the pitch and half arsed passing it and all.

Hopefully we see postive news soon he is coming.

I saw 31/AUG in that tweet and took a few moments to realise we could have another month of this.
Hell will freeze over before Barca let Lewandowski, Raphinha, Kounde and possibly Bernardo miss their first three La Liga games.

They'll fold and pay him his £17m before August 13, mark my words.

I don't think Frenkie's mentality will be a problem at all.

If getting his wages paid isn't enough, he'll be hellbent on proving Barca and the world how wrong they were to treat him like this, while also be eternally grateful to his new club, fans and manager who stand by him even if it was publicly repeated he wasn't interested in coming here.

Dogs who've suffered abuse and homelessness are the most caring, grateful, obedient and lovely companions.

They’ll register them all without selling anyone

People will raise concerns and a few online allegations of corruption but nothing will get done about it

It’s the Barcelona way

If this happens ( and its starting to look like it might ) I really have to applaud the muppets on here who stayed the course. Times were dark and when only hope remained you were strong, I personally had huge doubts I didnt have your strength. You deserve this , If and when it happens you deserve your day in the sun. Bravo muppets, bravo.

Barcelona's next elections are years away so I don't think he has to worry about this too much.

He's been waiting to be president of Barcelona again for more than a decade, he ran in 2015 and lost.

I don't think he's the kind of guy who's going to say "ah well the finances are bad so I'll be a sober, wartime president." Nah, he wants to have fun.

He's probably thinking, "I've already taken a massive wage deferral and am still being shafted and asked to work for half my wages, so I might as well half ass my performances." And who can blame him? If my boss did that to me I'd be out of the door so fast it would make their head spin, and if I had to stick around for any length of time i'd be on such a 'go slow' that I'd probably shatter the space time continuum and time would travel backwards :D
