The best part was when we try to low ball them first with something like £30m for both Fellani and Baines.
Oh yeah I forgot about that!

Funny how much things change but don’t at the same time. We’ve got ourselves a manager who is signing players he has close ties to just like moyes. Yet we all believe this time around it’s much more positive.

We went from winning the league to Baines & Fellaini.

We just finished 7th - it's different.

I mean, it wouldn't be that bad.
We're absolutely desperate for ball-playing midfielders in the pivot and we would have spent all summer chasing just one individual, at the behest of our new manager who supposedly has a good rapport with the player, only for him to reject us and join a rival who was until that point having an legendarily disjointed summer with all manner of players wanting out and priority targets joining other clubs. It would really weaken ETH's authority in the market going forward.

It would be one thing for him to stay, as the player felt he was owed money and refused to leave, but another for him to leave and then join Chelsea. It would be farcical. Chelsea would have kept their powder dry and then done a Malacia to us.

Bored of this pleb now. Season starts in 5 days and we've messed yet another window up. If we do end up paying him what Barca owe him then we are mugs and they have had our pants down.

Theres a meltdown over vague links to Chelsea in an article barely anyone has read. We all know de Jong prefers a CL club, which was reported months ago. I don’t believe ETH and the club would persist with the move if they didn’t get assurances over his willingness to come.
Exactly, there are private conversations about what you really want and there are public conversations which are about saying whatever you need/your agent tells you to say, to get the best deal. ETH knows him well and is having the private conversations whereas we are all fed a mixture of the public conversation and whatever shite the JohnnyJerkoff Journalists can think of to get more clicks.......

Agree with all that but not as bad as 5-0 v Liverpool. :(

London might seem like a shithole to the average Joe but if you’re a famous, multimillionaire footballer with a wife it’s probably a glamorous paradise. The best of everything at your fingertips.

Indeed. It's a billionaire's playground. Manchester is not. Literally the only reasons FdJ would go to us over Chelsea is the ETH connection and we might pay more. Everything else is in their favour. It certainly won't be helping that CR7 is kicking off in public again and might be staying. I wouldn't want to join a dressing room with him in it.

Anyways, if Frenkie really chooses London over our project and ETH, then we don't want him.

If Frenkie is not a Manchester United player by the end of this transfer window, I'll drink my own piss.
Is this supposed to be a challenge or something? our ancestors drank piss all the time. Homo sapiens only started drinking from water fountains when they couldn't pee, was thirsty and thought that drinking piss was unsustainable.

If we don't sign FDJ, this one has to be on ETH...he'll have known more about the stuggles, and still didn't look towards another midfielder.

There will be players in League 1 who would do a better job than McT

He can only choose London if Chelsea were actually in for him. He can't just rock up to Chelsea with his suitcases and proclaim that he's chosen them can he??

I actually have a different take on that. I actually think when you’re that rich, you have everything at your fingertips regardless of where you live. I just think the perception is that London is just nicer to live in and a more “it” city which is why these guys prefer it. But in terms of spending their money, they can do that literally anywhere.

What a boring transfer saga this has been. Literally the same thing over and over for a month or so.

Nah the restaurants are better. The hookers are better. The theatres are better. The shops are better. The parties are better. The stadiums are better. The airports are better. You can walk around and nobody bothers you. All the stuff footballers like.

At the moment, Chelsea are going to have to match our offer (or at least present Barca with an offer considered equally attractive) if they even want to negotiate with De Jong. Logic would dictate that they aren't willing to do that.
