Right...I can't work out whether you're agreeing with me or not? I think Eriksen was intended to play further forward, so I didn't really count him as one of the three CMs we need.
My point was really, although I couldn't be arsed to type it all out, is that we don't have the luxury of just targeting one or two star names every year and being ambivalent to whether they join or not.
We need players fast and I think that means taking some calculated risks. Therefore, I have no issues with players like Rabiot and Eriksen on for free/reduced fees - although I really hope we don't pay crazy wages.
Like everybody else, I want exciting signings like Sesko or FDJ, but it's pointless buying those players if they're thrown in with Dalot, Fred and McTominay.
Personally, I would have sold Fred, DvdB and McTominay in the Summer, signed three CMs for sure and used Garner as the 4th. Obviously all three couldn't have been £70m players though.
