Fairly substantial. it's not even a Championship fee nowadays. They must be broke in Italy. Let's not pretend this is anything but a cheap signing for us.
It's what we signed Dan James. People need to calm down.

He starts ahead of that Zakaria lad that everyone had a meltdown over us not signing in January.
No he does not, they don't even play the same position.

They played both when fit, Zakaria missed a few games because of an injury.

Zakaria would actually be someone with a bit of a drive, a physical presence in the middle. Would be exciting to see him in the PL.
But there's a reason Rabiot is for sale and Zakaria isn't.

My assessment of him is that he's really just an improved version of Mctominay in terms of passing, defending, and ball control but it's hardly a significant improvement. He doesn't excel at anything

I'd say the best way to fit him in is to pair him with a deeplying playmaker or a creative box to box with good defensive attributes. I don't see how a midfield of Rabiot, SMS and Bruno can work

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.

Zakaria started 6 times since joining in January. And yeah - Rabiot has 1 year on his contract and wants to leave.

Zakaria managed to be worse than McKennie. And Zakaria joined 6 months ago, why would he be sold that quickly when his value is at its lowest?

..alongside Rabiot.
In the meantime he's been injured two times.

Your claim that Zakaria was benched for Rabiot is just bs, they rate him a lot higher, so do their fans.
...or anyone that watched them both play for that matter.

Yes, that's not usual.

I clearly hope you are right that Juve let go of their best MF options while keeping their backup players, but I'm just not naive enough to believe it.
Fleeced us twice with Pogba, now they try to get a fee for their overpaid deadwood.

What has that got to do with it?

Is your argument, we have bad characters already so let's get some more?
That was not an irony. They are good lads but this is not a Red Cross. This is a football club. We had Cantona and Keane. They were troublemakers but won us trophies. Rather have a bad guy who can play football than a nice guy who is shite.

We got rid of Matic and Pogba whilst keeping Fred and McTominay. Maybe we can do a swap deal and tell Juventus McTominay is better than Pogba and show them last seasons appearance numbers.

Honestly, we may as well ask PSG to loan Ander Herrera back.
Was actually just thinking that. Shocking that our fans rated McFred higher. Probably just the fact that he was terrible at shooting

If Rabiot was a plan we could of got him months ago Juve have bee desperate to get shot of him for a year at least
That doesn't automatically make it a panic move though. We could just be looking at the De Jong situation and deciding we nerd to move on.

You're very easily pleased mate. The Juve fan forums are apparently in total hysterics that we are signing him.

He's no better than Mctominay. Statistically worse in all metrics last season too.
ive come to realise that dan forums are not always filled with the most reasonable people, ive yet to find a Juventus player that the Juve Forum likes

Which is where stats can be misleading, he is a far better footballer than Mctominay will ever be, he's not a world beater but a good addition to the squad.

Rabiot
Eriksen SMS

i'm happy with that if we can't get De Jong.

Except Rabiot is not a #6.

Can someone please explain to me what he is like as a player? What are his strengths and weaknesses? Based on the eye test from YouTube vids he looks excellent (well technically at least) and on a different planet to McT. However all I'm reading is negativity within this thread (like the rest of the Cafe these days). Anyone been watching him much at Juve or France recently?
highlight reels of any player is a bad idea

all touches videos are better but v few of rabiot exist

This is what gets me about the players we are being linked with, it's still hard to see how they will fit together. If we are going after an average dm then at least that is addressing a gap in the squad but we seem to be going after average players who don't obviously fit together

Want
What guarantees is he talking about? He simply needs to play better than McTominay or Fred - and then he gets into the team every time he is fit / not given rest
presumably wants a guaranteed amount of minutes or to be played in specific roles

He can walk into this starting eleven with one leg broken.

How is going to a nightclub unprofessional? Are players supposed to not go out by contract? And no he wasn't sanctioned by the club, he was already sanctioned for not extending his contract.

And the letter was definitely stupid and I already mentioned it.
He was sanctioned for his behaviour, which the club deemed unprofessional.

Just hope he learnt his lesson.

€20m for a player with one year left on the contract and where the club is desperate to get rid? :houllier:

This club recruitment department is so incompetent

He's actually very good as a 6, But Ten Hags #6 are a bit different apparently, he'd still be able to get forward
He is, but previously him and his mother kicked up a stink when he played there.

who knows what his thoughts are now? Presumably one of the tactics things he wants assurances on

we'll see what happens when he signs, But if we sign him and SMS, he'll be the deepest of the midfielders i imagine, Only way i can see it working.

It must be assumed that bringing in Rabiot does not mean we have given up on de Jong. If that's not the case and that Rabiot is the alternative to de Jong and that our transfer business, at least in terms of midfielders, is done for this summer then we are truly fecked and may rightfully hit the panic button.

This isn't the French team that won the World Cup. France 2022:

Friendly (H) vs Ivory Coast, 2-1 victory
Friendly (H) vs South Africa, 5-0 victory
Nations League (H) vs Denmark, lost 1-2
Nations League (A) vs Croatia, drew 1-1
Nations League (A) vs Austria, drew 1-1
Nations League (H) vs Croatia, lost 0-1

Yes, he plays for France. Make of it what you want to, France are a team with Mbappé, Benzema, Kanté, Tchouaméni, Lloris, Pavard, Hernandez, Koundé, Konaté and more, and they can't get a competitive win this year in four attempts, and have lost both of their home games.
Not sure what 4 games indicate. If he starts for France now he will likely start for them at the world cup in a few months, let's perhaps compare notes then.

No notautomaticly, but doesn’t look good, moving for a player who has been readily available for over a year can’t get in Juves team and no one else wants due to wages and past reports of attitude problems, this deep into the transfer window after an embarrassing defeat, pretty much at the same time we make a panic bid for a 33 year old guy playing in the Chinese super league.

Also Rabiot is very diffrent sort of player so the idea that he would be the alternative seems odd.

if it’s isn’t a panic but they are doing a very good job of disguising it as one.

We aren’t signing sms, too expensive imo. We will go for tielemans way cheaper, and we can pretend he is a good pl proven midfielder
