The mind boggles as to how people think it's Murtough/Arnold's fault.

We have had a fee agreed with Barca for a couple months now.

The only thing holding up the deal was the defered wages. Literally nothing Arnold nor Murtough can do about that.
Yup, waiting on a transfer for 2 months while not having any plans for a viable back up and then going scatter gun for any player that is willing to join us last minute - makings of a champion!

Some of you lot will lap up everything the club has to say and then people complain why our standards are falling.

Murtogh and Arnold should resign if he goes to Chelsea
More like fired, but we all know they will be here for years till they get bored and move on to something else. More than anything else, just goes to show how incompetent a Board we have.

And again, even with United journos, I still maintain they know very little in respect to the deal. I'm pretty sure people within United aren't going to go running to the press saying the deal is hanging by a thread are they?

I'm finding it hard to believe any journo at the moment, Chelsea or United linked
Maybe they are reading between the lines and seeing us go for other targets and now making shit up. Who knows anymore.

I am all for positive news but I don’t get how barca finding a wage solution is in any way a positive for us in signing FDJ.
Can only assume that they are saying that Barca are striking deals to set up structured payments for deferred wages and therefore they are projecting they will strike a similar deal with Frenkie over his 17M. Fairly speculative and in light of what has gone before I am not sure he would take any long term payment plan although the suggested 3% interest might be appealing. The conclusion being that if resolving the 17M is what has held things up then resolving it ought to free up the move, wishful thinking really.

Gaz. Is a Mewling Quim.
Nothing will change when the owners and people who run the club are such parasites and a shambles . Doesn't matter who is manager. We could get Pep and klopp to manage together and nothing would change, our club is in a spiral downwards and the only thing that will change that and really change it is if the club is sold. What have they done to our club. Shame on them
It definitely would if that happened, the two wouldn’t be able to work together at all

This really rivals Romeo and Juliet for romantic tragedies

Well I guess I can't call it a tragedy yet, we may still have a happy ending

Still not clear what is happening. If Frenkie did change his mind, it is maybe because he watched the first half of Brighton game.

That makes moving to MU look like being sent to the Gulags in Siberia.

If I was him, I‘d be inclined to stay and make those goatfeckers pay bigtime. He could sue as well.

Exactly. I'm not trying to be a dick or anything but United have been very hush on this deal, yet some journos, not even ones that we regularly brief too, seem to know the ins and outs off stuff. I just find it all so hard to believe.

I think a lot of them see us moving for other guys and think aaaah the de Jong deal is off or dying, then go full muppet on the Chelsea stuff. I think the fact is no one knows and journos are just milking it all for what they can as this is a crazy, hopefully likely never seen again type of deal (with the wage issues and way club are acting)

If this deal was dying, I'm sure our regular connected journos would know.

Not sure that is accurate as there were reports on us looking at SMS and Rabiot back in May, looks like they were plan B and we are now moving forward there. If the links had come from nowhere then sure call it scatter gun but we clearly had alternative targets identified months ago.

Can’t possibly believe that we have stayed in this for so long based on a gut feeling he would choose us. there must be something more concrete…

Maybe we were the only show in town when the deal was struck with Barca but surely, once Chelsea stepped in and we got the nod that this wasn’t gonna happen we would have moved on quicker. If not…we are event worse than I thought we ever could be.

If this really ends up with him joining Chelsea we'll truly be the biggest laughingstock in world football if we weren't already

Ornstein reported Chelsea's interest last Wednesday, it was over for us at that point. Why are people losing it today, there's nothing new?

It's going to be odd watching him play in a Chelsea shirt this season. It will also be a source of disappointment to EtH that probably the two best players he's coached (De Jong and De Ligt) will have both moved clubs this summer and neither one has joined United.

Chelsea's existing midfield options comprehensively outclass our own - that De Jong is now likely being added to that only further serves to illustrate the growing gulf in quality between United and the best teams in England.

I honestly cannot see him going anywhere but United. Even today the line from the club is Frenkie is still the priority and they remain confident, they would look like absolute weapons if they didnt get him now. I'm starting to believe this is Ronaldo to City all over again from last year. It can all change in a matter of hours.

Imagine being foolish enough to hinge your summer on the resolution of a complex contractual dispute between another club and player. From the moment they tried to make it our problem anyone could see this thing was a minefield of dishonesty we should have known not to rely on.

It begins...

Basically said he was willing to join even without CL football and indicated that to ETH previously but he supposedly changed his mind over the summer
Yet tomorrow will rock up and nothing will have changed. We're going round in circles here

When did that happen though?

We have to move on. It is not the end of the world. We could have bought him and he is injured for several months. If our season is doomed just because we failed to buy one player, then we are doomed as a club.
Very much end of the world him going there
