Is it at all possible that we could sign Casemiro and De Jong?

Even if its not in this window, its clear that we want him and Barcelona don't? If possible we could let him stay at Barcelona and move for him in January. If he's not playing for Barcelona this season he will be desperate for a move come January.
He knows he’s not getting any game time already and still isn’t desperate for a move.

Barca and Laporta will be crying in their beds when they see we’ve given a load of money to Madrid and not to Barca. It’s the ultimate disaster for them regarding FDJ.

I disagree that you can’t play Casemiro and De Jong together which is the point right?
I was just talking about Busquets because you compared him and Casemiro. If we say that Casemiro wouldn't play like Busquets in that way then sure, it could work. I think someone like Declan Rice would gel well with FDJ for example, because he's that more box to box style of defensive mid.

I gave you a strong possible reason for his motivation, also some examples that he is not the calm selfless guy one might think of an professional agent. How is refusing to meet or demanding a double payment professional? Even if you don't agree, you sit down. His main job is talking, negotiating. You can't do that by refusing to speak. Further, you just childishly insult people who give their own opinion based on long observation without any counter arguments towards his behaviour, just because the word "barca" triggers you. I didn't say he did that, I only stated he might have done, because people wondering, why your club is chasing a player for months who didn't give any hint that he wants to leave our club. I don't even know why I answer to this to be honest.
Still trying to vilify the guy and his agent for wanting to stay at a club where he's under contract and to be paid what he's owed under the terms of said contract.

It's laughable mate. After all the crap the club have pulled why would he meet them?

This one is as good as dead. We've clearly moved on to other targets. I really hope he stays and Barca now and gets his money in full.

Not yet, Casemiro appears to be second choice. There's a slim chance barca can still make this happen.
Its interesting that none of the reliable journalists have said we have given up totally on FDJ (in comparison to the Rabiot/Arnoutavic reports) despite it being super unlikely at this stage.

Part of me thinks we will make one more attempt depending on how the Casemiro talks go.

Very disappointed in the lack of activity in this thread considering it’s a big day today whilst hot levers being pulled off in the bag in Jim Ratcliffe’s done dealeo.

i think this BS with Casemiro is a smokescreen to put some pressure on Frenkie to make a final decision on moving or not.....just don't see us paying 80m for a 30yr old and giving him a 4yr contract at massive wages

He's still a hell of a player but clearly now surplus to requirements given all the CM's they brought in this summer

Yet every single Journo has jumped on Casemiro going through. Surprisingly been very little if any rambles that Casemiro won't happen so don't think so.

I'd love to get FDJ as well but we won't spend that much so it's best to just let it go. Be very happy to be proven wrong though.

it's just speculation about interest shown from United but no bid has been made and no response from any parties involved....Frenkie is the better long term option for the same price but clearly both will not happen

All of the Madrid based media are reporting that he wants to join us and that the offer to both the player and Madrid is too good - hell even Ornstein said it's progressing.

Frenkie's fee is 85m + potentially 17m whereas Casemiro is 70m. So quite a bit cheaper actually.

Two completely different players though, and I agree that Frenkie is better long term investment but that's not looking likely, and Casemiro is probably the best in the world in his position currently.

Here's the thing though, if Barcelona do back down and offer the wages would we still be interested given the fact we chased him all summer and have been ridiculed for it, and getting him in the end would hugely vindicate all involved? Sure the money would be an issue but there are always ways round that if we really want to do the deal... Also adding Casemiro may make us more appealing to de Jong because he wouldn't have to play with McFred:lol:

In conclusion this is definitely on:D

Very obvious FDJ said to us he wanted Casemiro as his midfield partner and he is just waiting to be sure we get him!

Surely if we get Casemiro De Jong has to be tempted.

He’d have to fancy himself as a better player than Toni Kroos.

Hang on, I’m in contact with Michael Knighton and some invisible investors who are willing to pledge the money to match your wager. I am preparing the bid document and will present a bet to you very soon. Of course if Sir Jim wants to jump in and take on that bet I’ll be delighted. :wenger:

Because he'd have a good player alongside him and be playing in a better team
It won't make a difference. I can guarantee now even if we get De Jong AND Casemiro we won't make top 4. Thats the sad state of our team. There are soooo many holes. Not just one or two to fix.

Why would getting Casemiro tempt FDJ? It literally makes no difference.
Ermm. I don’t know bro. I’m sure Any quality player would prefer to play with FDJ instead of Fred and McTominay…

How can you say it won’t make a difference when literally better players normally gets you a better team.

They balance off each-other perfectly and the only holes that need fixing is our attack… we already have a ready made 10 in Eriksen so we just need a Rashford replacement.

well if Barca are able to ship out Auba to Chelsea and move one more guy out the door, they won't have to sell FdJ as they'll have done enough to keep him and his wage packet. Now, they still won't have resolved the issue of the17m in back wages but that will be for another day

bringing in Frenkie and Casemiro doesn't solve our issue up top though
