The only concern with Casemiro is that despite a strong finish to the season, I feel for large parts of it he didn’t look the force he was in previous years.

Is he past his peak?
yes. Still miles better than what we have, but we’ll definitely seen him regress at United. Hopefully very slowly though.

Im sure they’ll figure it out somehow and win another CL
Maybe, but if if was Real Madrid I'd have focused on slowly replacing Modric this season and would have kept Casemiro for at least 1 more year to ease the pressure on Tchouameni and Camavinga. Replacing Casemiro will require a lot of adjustments since Tchouameni is very new to this single 6 role (unless they decide to change their formation drastically but I don't see Carlo doing that).

We've been here before though. We sign a player who looked great in a team surrounded by competent team mates and then wonder what's gone wrong when we make them play with the shite we have. Fred is fine, McTominay shouldn't be anywhere near our squad. We desperately need a ball playing partner for Casemiro because otherwise we're one injury to Fred away from having nobody other than youth players to work with him
Exactly, I really hope we don't think that just buying Casemiro will suddenly solve our midfield, we need to back this up.

Apparently selling him first wasn't the plan

I don’t think he’s passed his peak, I just think it’s an old spine in many ways and the teams took a while to get going because of it.
Plus I get the feeling they knew the league was won from like week 6

Maybe not if he gets involved in training beforehand. McTominay squares up to him, McTominay doesn't realise that some people actually see squaring up as more than just hard man posturing, McTominay gets knocked on his arse.

Fred partners with Chase Miro, a little known player on our books who looks like Casemiro but obviously can't be because this guy has a totally real (admittedly fake looking) moustache and the real Casemiro is over there sitting beside a waving Ten Hag (I know it looks like a broom with a picture of Casemiro's face on it but trust me, that's the real guy right there).

Ah chase miro the great lad himself, always knew he's gonna make it, never lost faith.

How does he fit into ten hags plan to have a ball player at DM, can he pass or just slide tackle?

Eriksen can be that guy. Liverpool had Fabinho, Hendo and Milner (before Thiago).Arsenal has Xhakha and Partey. Now please don't tell me we can't build a competent midfield with Fred, Casemiro and Eriksen.

At least not having CL means he can be rested midweek for the PL games which hopefully can make him last longer in the years ahead

Screams mercenary, just like Varane, Sanchez, Di Maria, Pogba, Cavani. I believe it will bomb then the new manager (hopefully Ten Hag will be here for years) will be stuck with an aging player who he can't shift due to his high wages.
Why is Varane a mercenary? He literally won everything at Real. Isn’t it plausible he could have wanted a new challenge?

Pogba is a Carrington graduate, again, how is he a mercenary?

Cavani didn’t even want to be here the second year, we asked him to.

Why are these guys labeled “mercenary”?

McTominay won't need to play really.
Fred - Casemiro - Eriksen
Donny - Casemiro - Bruno

Casemiro is the one we won't have backup for, but 1 DM is better than none. McTominay basically is Casemiro backup now if casemiro comes. Eriksen and Bruno can rotate. Fred and Donny can rotate. Hard to say which combo we'll settle on.

Yeah that doesn't look too terrible but Donny is next on my hate list if he screws up.

Beggars can't be choosers. If he can give us 3-4 years of play that's anywhere near the level he showed at Madrid then it would be a massive improvement over what we've had over the last few years.
Yeah, second that.
I was initially pretty meh to this signing, but there’s no doubt he will massively improve us, so bring it on.
We’re obviously not in the position to bring in young, up-and-coming, world class players, so this could very well be a smart move to get us closer to the right track again.

Guys FFS! At the start of the summer we hadn’t even heard of casemero now he’s the worlds greatest DM. He does play in a midfield with modric and kroos. With and outstanding back 4 and GK oh yes and the attack isn’t bad either.
hea not the answer for £60m if it’s £30 then spunky it. But £60? feckin madness.

Does anyone know how many years are left on his current contract at Real? Is that one of the reasons he’s open to leaving?

What planet do you live on? You’d have to be in a coma for the last 8 years not to have heard of Casemiro

The funny thing is, this guy might not even be trolling. So many PL fans that have zero clue of anything that doesn’t involve the English league.

3 years left, we're supposedly offering 4 years and a slightly higher wage. Supposedly wants to play in the premier league and thinks he's good enough to drag us back to compete.

It is hard to know his true worth as he is playing with some supremely gifted players in that midfield. I haven’t watched Brazil in detail so don’t know what he is like for the National team.

He is an out and out DM though and that alone is going to give us a better shape and take some pressure off the CBs.

Another midfielder and we can bench Bruno for a bit…see if that improves us.

All a bit mental tbh.

Guys, we need to call forth some janitors for the fella. He never heard of the best DM in world football, the winner of 5 CL titles and starting DM for Brazil national team

No sign that ETH rates Donny.

Yeah you're right.
You don't have the character to hate anyone, at best you are mildly inconvenienced.

We know his worth because Madrid haven't been as good without him. Watch the first leg against City when Casemiro was out then watch the 2nd leg when he's playing. As I've said, they don't win the CL last season without him.
