What have Ajax got to complain about? We took Feyenoords LB, probably gonna sign PSVs best player too.
Taking Gakpo will hurt PSV more than Ajax losing Antony will 100%.

PSV won’t replace Gakpo with equal or better instant quality whereas (only in terms of Dutch football) Ajax could sign Ziyech back and be ok.

Exactly, and most of the Ajax fans on here are telling me he's not worth what we're willing to pay anyway!

As an Eredivise follower though as well as being a United fan I’d say for what we want and need he is worth it. It’s expensive of course but the money to us is less vital than the right player. I outlined why in a previous post so won’t go over it all again.

To Ajax the money and Ziyech (plus the image of still being a developer of talent) will be far more important for them then it would be for them to keep an unhappy player who has outgrown them.

They win by selling him and still winning Eredivise and competing in the CL with an additional €60m (I’m assuming Antony sells for 90 and Ziyech comes in for ~30.

I agree, I think the profile is something we're missing in our squad. The fact he'll work well with the manager, players within the squad (Brazilian and ex eredivise) and add much needed depth - the premium is worth it.

Couldn't agree more with that second paragraph.

Him, another CM and a right back and that's a good summer, after initially looking like a disaster of a window. Hopefully his signing can be wrapped up quickly for an appearance on Saturday.

Look who watched the Utd Liverpool game with his agent...

If he has the same fighting attitude the other lads from Holland have had then bring him in. I think people are really overlooking the character element. Malacia, Martinez and Casemiro are all absolute fighters opposition fans hate - no coincidence we’ve targeted them and Antony by all accounts is another. Our team has been too nice and too passive for too long.

Yea Martinez was like a bull tonight. Absolute beast mode.

We have never replaced Greenwood on the right, this would be a great signing, we would be off our seats every time he gets the ball and lift the stadium. He clearly has great ability on the ball, forget the stats, which weren't that bad anyway, he is a proper baller

We should tell Ajax that if they sell Anthony for 10 million less we'll be able to buy Gakpo too and weaken PSV for them... Fair deal

Still not convinced we should be paying 100m euros for him but it would be good to have another forward on the books, especially one who can press and run with and without the ball for 90mins.

Greenwood was a nothing player on the right anyway. We’ve always needed a RW and thought Sancho was going to be that player.

Yup bring him in to rotate with Sancho and Rashford. You need high level subs when you play aggressive, fast paced football and the season is long anyway. Love that he was watching the game and posting about it

Good point, very true

Looks like he's coming, but why have Ajax been such cnuts over transfers, specifically to us this summer? They've always been a selling club so I don't understand the bitterness in selling players to us (way over value) and to a coach who left them on good terms.

Because we were biding our time with a limited budget, trying to sign De Jong at the start when he was €60m. Then it got too late and the Glazers got shit-scared and decided to pay the money anyway.

In fairness to them they lose loads of their top players every season . We already got Martinez off them they want to cash in when they can. Put yourself in their shoes imagine we kept unearthing gems only to lose them to bigger clubs and have to rebuild again and again . (I might be a bit bias here as I really like Ajax )

How dare they get as much money as they can. It's not like they've lost half their first team.

Didn't seem to be the case when it came to selling to every other club this summer. And we made very early bids for Antony.

Let's be honest, are Ajax ever going to be in trouble to replace a player? It makes me chuckle when the Ajax fans on here talk as if they need to keep a player because they've already sold X players.

I think they can sell key players every summer and rumble on. They're the top dog over there, a great academy, the best pulling power in the market. I don't think there's ever a drama for them. Like you say, they resign Ziyech, he'll probably be a beast over there again.

Came in to ask this question. Can anyone confirm?

Because they sold most of their key players early in the window, knowing who they were willing to sell. Then United come knocking on the door with a week to go when the season has started. What do you expect?

Well we did put in a bid for him earlier on in the transfer window....

As an Ajax fan, Antony is less of a fighter than Martinez. He is an attacker, creative with a good work ethic. And he can do things that not many players can. Also he will only get better and always keeps 2 or 3 players busy. The space he creates will suit the other forwards and the right back when the RB goes over him when he moves inside. I also think some defenders will try to kick him hard since he likes to show his ability.

I'm not sure what good a transfer request does?!? Everyone already knows that the player wants to move, but has three years left on his contract.

Putting it in writing changes nothing because Ajax needs to be persuaded to sell. It's not like with Gravenberch who was entering the last year of his contract and so had leverage. Antony has none because downing tools for a prolonged period of time or playing badly on purpose will mean he misses out on the WC.

He'll lose his loyalty bonus so there's money to be saved

What does a transfer request change? Never understood it

Of course we will. Ziyech now is an exception. Such a logical replacement that will be almost the same quality, that can just walk in like that and won't need time to adjust. That's like a once in a lifetime.

At some point Ajax will get a few potential replacements wrong and that will cost us the league. We are by no means Bayern or PSG, we are not nearly as far ahead of the rest.

Moreover, Ajax also has ambitions in Europe. To get the most out of that, we need a plan and we need players to stay for more than 2 years so we're not completely rebuilding all the time. We know that we can't keep the team together for 5 years, but we also want to get the most out of it and in order to do that our players really need to stay more than 2 years. The club is also built a lot on the connection between fans and (former) players, thats why so many players speak highly of the club and return at a later stage if the opportunity arises. However if we're selling every player after 2 years that connection won't be built anymore and that also destroys the club culture. For those reasons we don't want to sell every player at the first opportunity.

That's absolutely hilarious....man is not just burning bridges.....he's set demolition charges at both ends and is live streaming the explosion

Maybe he will burn the bridge so hard Van Der Sar will demand MUFC hire him as CEO just to make Antony have sleepless nights

Jeez he's really pushing for a move isn't he.

Hopefully he plays his heart out for us if he comes, seems to really relish coming here and we should end up getting him due to how many bridges he's burning down.

I think he'll be great for us but the price tag definitely makes me nervous.

Yeah it has proper weighed down Jadon, don't even need to speak about Maguire
