He was a truly brilliant player and I don't resent him to the point of not being able to appreciate the amazing memories he gave us. Agreed. I'm sticking by my prediction that Ronaldo will turn in top performances. He wanted to leave, no question, and he could have behaved more professionally, no question. But if there is no sensational move to Chelsea or Napoli tomorrow and he's our man after September 1 he has every incentive in the world to give it everything he's got.

A lot more than most footballers today. He's a massive step up from Martial and Elanga is nowhere close to either. Surely Ronnie would be considered, when he's up for it, still in the top 10 strikers on the planet. We should expect to see Ronaldo's minutes managed so that he's starting in most PL matches, probably being subbed off in the 70th minute much of the time against the likes of Bournemouth and Villa, and rarely starting in the EL and never in the domestic cup matches unless we make it to the FA Cup final. His focus will be on maintaining sharpness for the World Cup, but we should be ok with that. And he should be ok with being subbed off in the 70th minute and miss out on Police Chief, Onanism or whatever bizarre clubs we have to play in the EL group stage.

This is coming from a huge Ronaldo fan, but I'm a bit worried about him staying and the negative impact it could have on the squad. I hope I'm proved wrong of course. We don't know exactly what goes on in the club but it seems relatively certain he's a bit unhappy and liable to upset a few people. At the other end of the scale, the impact could be much worse.
