What were the full reasons for his depression of late? Annoyed with transfers, annoyed with the owners, just a bit of a prat?

Once managers start heading down that road they usually don't last long. You can't really give the impression you are turning the ship around when you're acting quite as sullen as he has.

Him and Rodgers seem to be asking for a sacking.
She turned the wee’uns against him

I've seen a lot of my Chelsea supporting friends/colleagues be pissed at this decision.

However, if you look at the results since mid of last season, Chelsea have hardly looked like a team looking to achieve great things. I believe his record in the last 25 games was worse than the record Lampard had in his last 25 when he was sacked. Most of your underlyings, I believe, have been trending downwards. Add to that, your defenders are basically your goalscorers, or in other words, the tactics going forward don't seem to be sustainable.

Of course, the transfer window seemed like a mess where it looked like Boehly was acting like a 5 year old kid in candy shop, but if you remove emotion out of all of it, it's not the most unreasonable decision, certainly not something I'd not expect from Chelsea

Jaysus they're 6th after 6 games and 3 pts outside the top 4 all while being without a recognised striker which is hardly Tuchel's fault. Seems a bizarre decision so early in the season.

Strange how some are criticising Arsenal for being patient with Arteta now that it looks like he might be successful with his project.

By all accounts the rock set in on the pre season tour to the states. You could sense that there were tensions and a lot of head scratching from the players as early as the Everton game.

You can argue it’s too early and yep that view point has merits but you can also argue that if it was going to happen this was the best time in that no other major club is looking for a manager but also the new owner clearly isn’t going to just let things be run in the same way.

Potter would be an obvious choice in view of the new owners views on the academy etc
The thing is it's worth sticking just that extra bit longer with a manager as proven as Tuchel. He might be able to turn it around.

I would argue that the potential replacements i.e. Poch or Potter are at best sideways moves or at worse downright inferior to Tuchel. Just can't see them winning the league over the likes of Klopp or Pep.

Since taking over from Roman Abramovich, Boehly has been hands-on involved in everything that is happening at Chelsea.

He is literally the last person to leave Stamford Bridge after every home game and makes sure he goes into the dressing room to speak to players after games to see if they are getting on with the manager.
What a meddling cvnt

To be fair to Tuchel he was having to manage a club that was under constant restrictions when it was clear Abramovich was going to have to sell.

He won't last. I cannot fathom apart from money, why any self respecting manager would even bother taking the Chelsea gig. No matter what, they will be sacked eventually.
Why? That's just the nature of a football manager's job. You work a few years, get sacked, and move on to the next gig.

Not sure why everyone here is acting like Chelsea is different in that regard.

Wasn’t Tuchel on board with signing Ronaldo but was talked out of it by Rangnick?
There were reports that he made his final decision after a talk with Rangnick, yes. But I don't think that means that he was truly on board before that, to me it sounded more like he did his due diligence by talking to a trusted advisor who worked with Ronaldo before.

Probably a topic for a sperate thread but i do wonder why players dont have clauses in their contracts allowng them to leave if the manager gets sacked. Example aubumeyang, came to chelsea because of tuchel and now hes gone. Less than few days after he signed for the club.

Im sure ive heard of it in NFL, that if the head coach is sacked, some players ask for a clause that then allows them to go free agency at the end of the season.

As much as Chelsea harp on about the signings being chosen by the club and not tuchel. They have hamstrung the next manager with a reduced budget and players he potentially doesnt want.

I remember when I was bantering with Arsenal fans about Lampard being the better of the two. Arteta not only outlasted Lampard but his successor too. We’re just two very different clubs run in very different ways.
I've always said that the Arsenal job is the easiest in world football. You don't even have to be competent. Any manager if they want stability, would kill for Arteta's job.

Perceptions. Even when Arsenal were doing atrociously, Arteta somehow gave off this notion to a lot of the media [and the Arsenal fanbase] to "Trust the Process".
He's a great snake oil salesman

What I don't get is why is Arteta still praised after 3 years of complete mediocrity, whilst we were mocked under Mourinho when he finished 2nd whilst winning Europa League and Carabao cup in the same season. Sure, he had his usual meltdown and deserved to get sacked but it's insane to me that he was seen by many as a failure at united whilst arteta with a bunch of 5th, 6th place finishes and a fecking fa in 3 years cup gets a pass.

But seriously, what is it about Arteta that lets him get away with murder? Those kind of results and finishes over 3 seasons at any other top 6 club and you'd be a laughing stock.
Arteta's finished 8th twice I think. He may have only finished 5th/6th once. In any event I don't think he's ever going to win us the league. I see him more Rodgers/Lampard than a Klopp. I wish we'd go and snap up Graham Potter before Chelsea ruin him.

How do you know there aren't such clauses? But maybe most players just go for a general release clause to be safe against any circumstances?

Ahh ok, thanks for clarifying.

His main problem seems to be that he isn't a good man manager, he always seems to lose the dressing room after a couple of seasons, falling out with his players and often enough the higher ups as well.
To me it seems like disagreement with his boss ended his Chelsea career more than falling out with players. From a result or sport perspective it was definitely to early to fire him. Boehly just waited for an opportunity to get rid of him of personal reasons.

Tuchel had difficulties with Dortmund top management, he had difficulties with PSG top management, despite taking them to a CL final, and he’s had difficulties with Chelsea owners now.

I think he’s a damn fine tactician, excellent at organizing a side, but he’s the new Conte, isn’t he? He only sees his player’s faults, not their strengths, and those faults become more pronounced in his mind, the longer he spends with them.
Utter rubbish that, the form of so many players under him compared to under Lampard was massively different. Someone like Rudiger played his best football under Tuchel

That is absolutely nothing to do with the post you quoted, to be fair.
How is it? Not seeing someone like Rudigers strengths? Literally the first thing he did was move to a back 5 after Lampard playing a back 4

How has he been sacked but Arteta managed to survive the last two seasons?
Of the Lampard, Ole, Arteta trio that took up their respective jobs close-ish to each other, I never saw much that separated the three of them (And still haven't really), yet Ole and Lampard are gone and Arteta remains

They said that in Tuchel’s head his players are never good enough and it gets worse as time passes. Something we’ve seen in numerous jobs in numerous countries.

The comparison was even made with Conte, who despite being very good and getting tunes out of many players, never feels it’s enough.

Wow. So if Potter has a £16M buy out and does join, that change of management would cost £30M!
It’s ridiculous isn’t it

Must be the most expensive sacking ever?

Not only that but that £30m could have been used to sort out their issues in forward areas

He may have a perfectionist mentality, and this doesn't translate well to others - especially nowadays.

He has a 60% win rate as Chelsea manager. Potter (who I do rate) has just over 30% at Brighton. Not sure he's ready to make that step up to what managing Chelsea requires.

I feel like Chelsea's ownership has made a big mistake here.
It's almost like it's easier to get a higher win ratio at a giant with unlimited funds, than a relative minnow club

Not necessarily. Very much depends on how the manager handles big names and sets up the side.

Interesting if true. The real crime I think was Tuchel saying 'distroy'.
This happened at the worst time. If they had done it few weeks before we could have got rid of our CR7 problem. If this would have happened 4 weeks later Chelsea would have been out of the top 4 race. Todd can't do anything right.

I do believe this sacking is a little bit premature given what Tuchel has achieved so far with Chelsea. Even Abramovich was more sensible, but we'll see - it might turn okay for Chelsea or it might go horribly wrong.

Todd Boehly wanted CR7. He'd as good as done the deal with Mendes. He was intoxicated by the thought of new revenue streams, the social media clicks, the glamour, the shared legacy of association with greatness...

Tuchel was fundamentally opposed to bringing Ronaldo into his dressing room. The footballing side of the club backed TT. Boehly didn't like the power that the manager wielded at his newly purchased club. He waited for TT to under perform and sacked him after the first hiccup.

Boehly has messed up massively. They will not find a better coach. Not to mention a squad assembled to fit into TT's system.
Isn't this just rumours? Because it is even more stupid by them if that was true. Let managers be managers.
