I’m surprised people even thought there wouldn’t be HUGE ramifications and massive changes to the Schedules in this country when the Queen died. It’s unprecedented the World over. I’m sure football and it’s fans will survive. It’s just Sod’s law really that it proceeded an international break.
Yes, we give far too much credit to organisations who fail us time and time again.

When are they planning on fulfilling these fixtures? And how is it fair on the 6 teams that aren’t playing again this weekend?

What a fecking farce.

The most annoying thing is other fixtures are going ahead. We’ll be 1 game behind for a while now and possibly down to 12-13th in the league after we’ve played Man City. All momentum lost ffs.

I’m surprised how the Brentford vs Arsenal game is going ahead when that game is in London.
Me too but pleasantly surprised. Chelsea off I understand as it is high risk - we know how scummy their fans can be ;) plus Liverpool thrown in the mix . Spurs game maybe only on as it is on the Saturday.

The queen is absolutely and certainly not adored by most. There are people in your own country who despise monarchy and as the next generation comes in, it will be despised even more thankfully. She has my respect as a human being but certainly not as a queen. UK has gone bonkers with shutting shop for all this nonsense.
The problem with this thought process is that it takes away the element of the alternative. Do UK citizens by and large think the monarchy is ridiculous? The answer is most probably, yes, particularly if the question was simply 'should the monarchy be abolished due to it being archaic?' Or 'is the monarchy valid in democratic society?' Etc.

The problem however comes to what replaces it? If you ask British people if they would be prefer the current system or one that allows the likes of Blair/Brown/Cameron/May/Johnson to be PM (or any politician) the answer will be a resounding, No.

The argument about becoming a Republic has been around of centuries in the UK. However, it hasn't happened because Brits (even those that acknowledge the monarchy is ridiculous) are very loath to have a President. Obviously, there are probably a solid 25%+ that would go for it regardles but in that middle ground of 50% who realise it is nonsense, too many would go with that status quo once they think of Johnson/Blair being labelled 'President'.

Another season made a complete mockery of due to fixture scheduling. And this one was entirely avoidable.

Ah well, if it's not safe to police then there's no choice really, no complaints from me. It been Leeds and the risk of protests probably did for it.

The error was made by the FA not playing last weekend, and much as people want to there's no one else to blame but them for this.

Yeah that’s the thing, as much as I’m anti monarchy I also absolute despise the majority of politicians (see: tories) who’ll win elections and be ‘president’ or whatever title they would take.

There’s no particularly correct answer as to what happens next if we abolish (beyond turning those garish royal homes into something actually useful).

Anyway the decisions regarding next weekend were very obvious from day one and I can only assume those annoyed about it lack any kind of critical thinking.

Well this has taking a turn for the worst. I guess this british monarchy won't be growing the beard after this.

Can't we play Palace on Sunday instead? Both teams have had 2 games postponed, low key fixture needing less police overall, and one less game to fit in.

Player rest and well-being doesn't matter.

Fan welfare doesn't matter.

The only thing that matters is PR for a dead queen.

Couldn’t they just have banned away fans from the game and do the same when we go to Elland Road to make up for it? Still need policing I know, but not in anything like the same numbers.

And fixtures pileup later while others have room to breath.

Spurs Vs Leicester= 60,000 fans

Brentford Vs Arsenal = 15,000 fans

Plus the Championship, League 1 and League 2 fixtures based in the South East too that nobody seems to be mentioning.

Why are we sending coppers from our own GMP so London can have all these games on? It makes no sense.

If London can afford to police these games then they clearly don't need the outside help do they? Your city, your problem as far as I'm concerned. Cancel the games and police the Funeral...why should a game based in Manchester have to suffer?

Ironically, I feel match-going fans are going to more than likely boo the minute silence now that it has affected football negatively this much.

United v Leeds will be a Cat C fixture and one of the most high risk of the season. It requires the heaviest police resourcing.

GMP will have had to staff that, along with any other football fixtures in GM (haven’t checked what else is on that day), then other scheduled events/protests etc.

If officers are already assisting Police Scotland and the Met then I’m hardly surprised something has to give.

Policing numbers are at an all time low in the UK and have been dwindling down for years without anyone batting an eyelid. Now you see why it’s an issue.

That’s actually the best idea I’ve heard. The whole reason they need more police is because it’s a Category A game. But that’s only because of the two sets of fans. People will argue it’s not fair on away fans who’ve paid expenses, but they’ve lost those expenses either way anyway.

I’m guessing the problem could be Leeds fans still turning up and gathering outside the ground.

Ah so you knew only the Chelsea and United matches would be cancelled and yet all the others go ahead and all the matches last weekend would be cancelled and that only the Arsenal match would be cancelled of the European matches

Question is do you have crystal balls?

All the more reason that the fixtures of the weekend just past should have gone ahead.

Absolutely bizarre that ours is off and a London game is still on.
Greater Manchester Police are cancelling football here this weekend, lending the capital their stormtroopers so that Londoners may continue to enjoy the football at our expense.

Fan-feckin-tastic. So we have what, a month between league games? Beyond ridiculous.
Followed by another month of no games when the World Cup starts!

Who would have thought in the most fixture crammed season, we’d have 2 pre-seasons in the middle of it!
