I’m worried that going for a False 9 player maybe playing to a soon to be ‘older style’ of football.

So I’m more interested in players like Schick or Toney instead of players like Nkunku.
Yeah they are more that kind of striker we need

I think Ivan Toney would be quality for us. Should get him for a decent price aswell… mitrovic might be a good shout aswell, he bangs goals in for the fun of it.

Toney will cost over £60m if he has a good season. Maybe even £70m. He won't be cheap. Mitrovic would probably cost over £50m too.

We're not scooping up smaller clubs' star strikers on the cheap anymore. Those days are done.

Toney would be good for us though, but I can't help feeling he's only really at our current level and we should be aspiring for more - the next world class strikers to get us to the top of the game again.

Will be good to see how Toney goes today against Arsenal, they’ve got a quick physical defense. I don’t think he is title challenger quality but he might end up being the best available.

The exact reason why I would love one of him or Mitrovic AND Osimhen, however won't happen because need a GK and CM to rotate with Eriksen.

Today summed up what I think of Toney. Not nearly good enough - I'm amazed so many people here are calling for him given how much they moan about overspending...

So given a choice of Osimhen/Shick/David/Vlahovic which one of them would you pick

Not sure any fit the bill - and I've seen very little of any of them. Osimhen looks like one of those guys who has a great game or two and then fades for a few. If I had to go for one, then probably Shick. But, as I say, I'd like to find better than all of them. Look at what Jesus is doing for Arsenal, so possibly someone with PL experience

I give Vlahovic 1 year, 2 years top until he will want to leave Juve and we could be the potential buyers.

With how Juve have been playing this season I wouldn’t be surprised if Vlahovic wants out at the end of this season.

Milan, Napoli and Inter look far better than Juve whilst Roma and Lazio have improved and Atalanta are still doing well so Juve may not even make top four.

Not making top four is a much bigger thing in Italy than over here due to the television money in the PL compared to Serie A and Juve are only an injury to Vlahovic or/and Chiesa away from being a mid table club right now.

It's utterly preposterous people wanting to sign him. He's a midtable striker and fairly limited.
He's the classic penalty stats pad our merchant which I'm sure makes people think he's better than he is.

Was Toney really that bad?

Im just wondering because he didn’t score against arguably the top team in the PL.

I don’t know if that’s safe to judge him by - but I also did wonder about how much his penalties weighed his stats.

Nkunku/Osimhen for me as a player that converts his chances, Leao if he progresses this season and bulks up.

I think Nkunku/Osimhen are probably the best out there if either have a good season both have a great record for 2 seasons, meaning it's not just a good run of form.

Vlahovic would be sensational. Pipedream but yeah he is awesome. Wouldn't mind Osimhen. Don't know much abt Shick or David.

I don't know enough about Vlahovic, one thing about Osimhen is that he's so much faster, on the counter United would destroy teams with Rashford, Sancho and Osimhen.

(United really need to extend Rashfords contract though or then United need more forwards).

Obviously against low block teams I don't know what is the best option, Vlahovic or Osimhen but I'm sure the scouting department is busy preparing

Gapko doesn't look like he's had his head turned much (is it eight in seven?), and he was all set on United in August. Will we go back for him?

I see people keep mentioning Rafael Leão, who granted is a good player but isn’t a CF and another who plays from the left

Rafael Leao plays like Martial when he first started out with us. Tricky, great dribbler, skilful, pacy.

Lorrenzo Lucca 22 built like a freak of nature, has good hold up ability, presses well and a good finisher, now on loan at Ajax,

forgive the music.

He’s played a total of 32 min in the eredivisie so far, with AS preferring to play Kudus as a false nine (to great personal effect but so-so team effect) like previous ETH teams, rather than the bulkier Haller types he more recently preferred. Still has a lot to prove in just trying to break into their first team, as he’s also battling for minutes with Brobbey
Moukoko and slap him in straight away.
He hasn’t played well at all for Dortmund, been well below the hype, and constantly picking up injuries.

Some names that haven’t been mentioned in this thread I don’t think to keep an eye on and see how they progress: Myron Boadu and Goncalo Ramos. Personally, I think Ramos would be a great fit if he continues progressing, great physical attributes already, presses well, looks to build up attacks, although has a few flaws that need to be ironed out, as any young striker does.

That and the fact that it requires high goal scoring wingers, which we do not have.

Boadu is so talented but yet to have any sort of breakout season, needs to really kick on in the Ligue 1 before he is ready for another move. Ramos on the other hand I have really liked each time I've seen him play, he seems to have the physicality to hold his own in the PL and also quick enough to get in behind. I would love him at the club.

He tracked back and won some headers, but didn't really get into the game much. Didn't really have much service. Only Rico Henry really played well from Brentford from what I saw.

Major takeaway was that Raya is too small and I hope we don't sign him even though he's quite good as a passer.

Don't know about strikers, but please don't let that guy Bellingham sign for anyone else, when he moves.

8 goals and 5 assists in 12 appearances.
21yrs old and seemingly having a bit of a break out season. Goncalo Ramos might be worth keeping an eye on

We could contact Mathias Pogba to see where the kidnapping squad is at ! (No offence to the whole Pogba situation which is horrible tbh)

Don't know much about him, but every CF at Benfica gets to those numbers.

It was Jonas, then Pizzi, followed by Seferovic and finally Nunez. Not all of those are setting the world on fire right now...
Kinda hard not to score 25 a year as a lone striker playing for a dominant team like Benfica.
But yeah, worth to keep an eye on anyway.

We should be keeping tabs on Patrick Schick and Adam Hlozek, both of Leverkusen and Jonathan Burkadt of Mainz 05.

He's not my pick just for the record I've been insisting we go for Gakpo who has all the traits to be a top CF even though he currently plays as a LW

Arsenal may not be the best team but they are the top team of the premier league.

that’s all.
You obviously didn't mean they were top of the premier league as you said arguably. You are either top of the prem or not. I think we both know you meant they were the best team in the league (arguably). Don't back down! Stand up for the legopep!

Well that’s why I said top and not the best. Because for now they are the top.

Just wonder if Toney should be cut down for struggling against such a team.

Do you think so?

As much as I like Ivan Toney, I'd rather give somebody out of the league a go.

As soon as a player comes to the prem and proves himself, you can add 20 million to the price.
