Well for me it wasn’t about Henderson being easy on the eye -

It was Henderson being better than De Gea during that season and our team reaping the benefits of an all rounded goalkeeper.

The stats showed it and the performances did that we were better with Henderson than De Gea.

Some people will see it and some people won’t.

Henderson has a tougher job at Nottingham than United IMO. But again, all I have to bring up is De Gea’s performances or none for Spain to judge if he is good for us too.

Most of us know De Gea isnt good enough.
But Id rather have a keeper that actually gives his allf or the club and doesnt throw the toys out the pram. And in this season apart from the Brentford game De Gea has been doing okay for us. Henderson would never had saved the Maddisson Freekick for example.

I've never been anything more than an amateur league goalkeeper myself but still I consider my self a decent judge of one. The problem with him for me, and I see it many times in this video, is that when he dives or goes for a shot it's like he doesn't have any spring. He doesn't seem to gain any distance or movement to the ball with his dives, like he just sort of falls under them with hands extended.

People treat DDG's shot stopping ability with the sort of Roy Keane 'that's his job' attitude but Henderson has shown lots of times here that it's not a given. Do I think they are clear and obvious errors? No. Do I think the same sort of thing happening again and again suggests there's an underlying deficiency in one of the most important aspects of a goalkeepers game? Absolutely.

I also don't think his play with the ball at feet and much vaunted ability coming off his line is anywhere near as good as made out and certainly not good enough to make up for those deficiencies.

Imagine a homegrown player and a fan of the club since childhood who is still be paid top wages by the club see a need to go on tv badmouthing the club that treated him so well all these years.

He is one of the highest paid GK in EPL with long term contract from the club. Even if he wants to feck off do it proper way with respect to the club that gave him everything.

Yeah, if a keeper keeps facing unstoppable shots, you'll often find it's not the shots that are special, it's the keeper that's making them look that way. Usually through poor positioning or just having poor reach. And as it happens, those are two of Hendo's biggest weaknesses.

Genuine question, apart from him and his claim, can anyone confirm he was actually promised the Number 1 spot?

Even if he did feel he had a point, should have kept his mouth shut, and shown United and everyone else why he should be
a Number 1 at a top club, Big fail on that level so far.
He came across as very childish with his comments and set himself up for a lot of flack if he did not perform at the top level week in and week out.

I hope he gets some form back, don't care about Forest, but no sign so far that he should be United number 1, far from it

He is not that great of a keeper to be opening his mouth like he has been. I like to see him even get half the wage United pay him when he leaves. I really hope we sell him next summer because he is a mid-lower table keeper.

I think it’s pretty easy to see that Henderson is conceited to the point of being delusional, so it’s incredibly likely that what he heard and what was said are very different things. If he was told “De Gea is no longer guaranteed first choice, it’s up to you now to prove you should be the #1” he would have heard “the #1 spot is yours” because, naturally, anyone that sees him in training with an open mind would be overwhelmed by his quality and could only ever pick him.

Those long range bombs he concedes every week look like there's nothing he could have done but no, he doesn't center himself properly and leaves disproportionate space on one side. He will have his own personal goal of the season collection when it's over.

As always the massive overly analysing of GK's shows that the majority of people have no clue about Goalkeeping.

First goal massive deflection wrong footed nothing you can do as a GK.

Second goal perfect finish really sweet FA you can do with that either.

Third goal, Damned if you do damned if don't, in hindsight he made a mistake to gamble on it coming over the wall, but if he hadn't done and did go over the wall he would probably be criticised for not gambling on it. Full credit for Madison his gamble of not going over the wall, kept it low and hard aswell, less distance to travel harder for the keeper to pick up.

Fourth goal, you can't anticipate the back heel shot coming through the defenders legs, he does well to get an hand to it because its low towards the corner and Daka gets a good contact on it. It's a good creative finish, as a GK with those you just hope there straight at you or the striker doesn't good enough contact, anything else you are pretty fecked from that distance.

I'm not advocating him as the second coming, he certainly has his flaws as a top level GK but even so I would still rather have Henderson warts and all in-between the sticks than De Gea.

Realistically though we need a serious upgrade in the GK department whatever.
