Where's the consistency? VAR was supposed to solve ref's being inconsistent. It's made them worseSurprised people are surprised, it's been the rule for a while.

Where though? High up, low? If it’s above the sleeve it’s not handball. Maybe my stream isn’t great but I genuinely couldn’t see it.It did hit him on the arm
It's a dumb rule
Low, like his forearm basically.Where though? High up, low? If it’s above the sleeve it’s not handball. Maybe my stream isn’t great but I genuinely couldn’t see it.
Can you explain the West Ham goal then…..no…bore off.Surprised people are surprised, it's been the rule for a while.
They're fecking stupid and have to do things differently because they think the rest of the world is interpreting it wrong, not them.On French TV today I heard that there will no English VAR officials at the World Cup because they don't interpret the rules like the rest of the world.
Don't know if it's true but there have been three inconsistent decisions that I've seen just today.
That was the thing for me. Could have been shoulder, chest, upper sleeve. None of which are handball. Whatever happened to VAR needing to be certain to change a decision?People are surprised when they see the same thing happen and be allowed in one match and not another. The replays I saw didn’t show definitively where it hit him.
I’m not convinced. Looked like it hit his midriff and on to his chin.Low, like his forearm basically.
And it seemed to be decided within seconds. That was the thing for me. Could have been shoulder, chest, upper sleeve. None of which are handball. Whatever happened to VAR needing to be certain to change a decision?
It wouldn’t be shocking at all if English officials were banned from the World Cup. What we witnessed today is beyond the pale.On French TV today I heard that there will no English VAR officials at the World Cup because they don't interpret the rules like the rest of the world.
Don't know if it's true but there have been three inconsistent decisions that I've seen just today.
You'll have to show me that because no replay has shown it clearly enough to overturn a goal, none that I've seen in any case.Low, like his forearm basically.
Looked high up to me. On HD big screen telly. So high up it looked like it could have been on shirt sleeve.Low, like his forearm basically.
He squares it to Bruno for an open goal and it's magically not handball (remember that Boro one against us where the lad was playing basketball before squaring to a teammate?).
Absolutely insane rules. There's no justifying it.
That's the one. It's just so clearly, obviously fecking stupid it's untrue. You'll have to show me that because no replay has shown it clearly enough to overturn a goal, none that I've seen in any case.
Also ridiculous that if he'd squared it to an unmarked Bruno, it would've stood. Ridiculous rule.
And another also.
I think that Antonio's goal stood because he missed first shot so it counted as second play. Can you explain the West Ham goal then…..no…bore off.
Excellent point. He squares it to Bruno for an open goal and it's magically not handball (remember that Boro one against us where the lad was playing basketball before squaring to a teammate?).
Absolutely insane rules. There's no justifying it.
The ridiculous thing about the Boro goal is they got so wrapped up in the "hitting the hand directly leading to a goal" bit that they forgot to actually check whether it was just a normal handball... Which it obviously was. You'll have to show me that because no replay has shown it clearly enough to overturn a goal, none that I've seen in any case.
Also ridiculous that if he'd squared it to an unmarked Bruno, it would've stood. Ridiculous rule.

In that case Pickford’s challenge should rule the handball null and void. The same way but resets for handball. Not only am I not convinced it was handball, I’m not convinced they applied this moronic rule properly.I think that Antonio's goal stoot because he missed first shot so it alcounted as second play.
Don't kill the messanger here. It is idiotic rule
VAR is the officials.VAR isn't the problem the officials are.
The Antonio goal posted above? Yes. In between the handball and Antonio scoring there's a save by the goalkeeper and a play of the ball by a defender. Can you explain the West Ham goal then…..no…bore off.
You can look at it that way if you want to.VAR is the officials.
But Pickford also played the ball. Deliberately. Is it in the rules that it’s disallowed if one opponent touches the ball but if two do it then it’s ok?The Antonio goal posted above? Yes. In between the handball and Antonio scoring there's a save by the goalkeeper and a play of the ball by a defender.
It's fine for you not to understand the difference. But don't post like a prick and tell people to bore off just because you didn't understand the difference.
It certainly was not clear and obvious that the ball hit his hand/arm at all, imo. But the check was done very quickly. Really strange decisionI understand the rule about not allowing a goal where an attacker uses his hand. My problem is that of the replays I saw, i'm not positive that it did hit his hand. I thought the goal should have stood. And as the guy above me stated, it's a very stupid rule considering the goal would have stood had he passed it off...
No it hasn’t. His hand wasn’t in a natural position. The law has changed since the Boro goal. It was accidental handball and although it was a bit of a bastard, it was the correct decision.
Maybe they had an angle that showed it clear that we weren't shown??It certainly was not clear and obvious that the ball hit his hand/arm at all, imo. But the check was done very quickly. Really strange decision
There’s no other to way look at it. VAR isn’t a sentient being. You can look at it that way if you want to.
It was the correct call. Deal with it and move on.No it hasn’t. His hand wasn’t in a natural position.
