No player is a guarantee but id argue the best G/A contributor since Suarez at Ajax isn’t exactly a bad place to look.

Odd. Literally a week ago everyone was saying sancho was improving, it was a disgrace he wasn’t called up to England and he was looking like the player we knew he would be.
Many fans on this forum are tiresome. Week in week out the narrative changes.

I don't think it makes sense if I'm honest. Unless the idea is for him to play as a #9 which he hasn't been doing primarily.
Henry-eque 9 perhaps. I personally would prefer Sesko to him but seems he has the physique to be an ETH 9 like Haller at Ajax. We have seen ETH use Rashford as a number 9 to some effect and I'd say the biggest issue with Rashford in the position is ball control in limited space. If Gakpo is better at holding the ball up in the middle of the park then maybe.

In his best season for PSV 99/00 (statistically better per minute contributions)
G/A every 69.87 minutes

Even then not performing at Gakpo’s current level.
The decline of the Dutch league obviously started with the fallout from the Bosman ruling, but Kezman is typically considered the turning point of when the Eredivisie became a farmers league. Ruud was playing in the Eredivisie just 2 years after Ajax won the champions league. Stats comparisons across these eras are worthless.

I wasn’t the one trying to make the point about Kezman or RVN but when asked I only responded with the comparison others wanted.

I am more making a point that the next best striker in the more modern version of the Eredivisie was Suarez who is being outperformed by Gakpo who is in a far inferior side.

The standard Gakpo is setting is record breaking so while as an avid watcher of Eredivise for AZ I accept it’s not the most competitive league in world football I think it’s absolutely ridiculous that someone can be so consistent over nearly 3 years now and clearly developing into an all round attacking threat is being talked down by many whose only experience of him may well have been highlights of a couple of European qualifiers.

I know, as I would only chipping into the discussion, not directly responding to you (maybe I shouldn't have quoted you) :)

No worries. My hope is he helps knock Ajax off the perch if AZ cant this season. Maybe then people will wake up.

You can agree personal terms with ten clubs lad, doesnt mean you are going to Leeds.

Also he is clearly too good for Leeds especially on this seasons form alone
Tbh If I was him i'd probably join a mid table club like that with a realistic release clause.

Settle in the league with less pressure then move to whoever you desire after.

We've seen with the likes of Memphis that sometimes moving too big too early isn't a good idea.

I remember when Afonso Alves was too good for anyone on form. Or Memphis Depay. Or Klaasen Jan Huntelaar. Or Ricky van Wolsfswinkel.

Don’t see anything in this kid that separates him from Memphis when we signed him, actively would say he’s not at that level, and he was crap.

He's a good player but we can't buy everyone. Only makes sense if we selling Martial or Rashford

PSV, the Netherlands
The guy is not good enough for Madrid. Big nothingburger.
Thoms, again bashing Gakpo. In out latest discussion you admitted you liked Gakpo playing for the Dutch national squad (in my expectation he might be better when playing in a stronger team) When i stated it’s quit different playing besides Vertesen and Saibari over Haller and Tadic, you actually agreed.

We’re back to square one again? Nothingburger? You don’t agree he’s a one man attack at PSV and delivers great stats?

i agree with you he didn’t play well against rangers, but his games against Ajax and Feyenoord show some promiss?

I would like to see this happen. When I saw PSV last season the goals Gakpo was scoring showed all the evidence that he's capable of playing through the center. If Ronaldo indeed does leave in the winter window it would be good to push for him.

'Nothingburger' doesn't refer to people but to information. He's saying the story about the links to Real Madrid is a nothingburger.

Mate, I do like Gakpo in our NT. Do you seriously think he’s Real Madrid material? If so you are in the minority judging by all the opinions on Dutch football forums. I know you like him a lot but cmon mate..Some of our best players ever (Sneijder and Robben) didn’t succeed at RM and you think bloody Gakpo will?
I do agree he’s a one man attack but RM would be a step too high. I think the story is a big fat nothingburger, meaning I doubt this story is true.
