fecking feck. Newcastle now Liverpool, taking up all the sugar daddies while the glazers hang on. We've missed out on all the big money owners now, haven't we.
WTF? You should be thankful that City and Newcastle came asking and 'took all the sugar daddies'. No amount of trophies would wash away the blood.

Another oil club. Cool
I think Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain are yet to buy clubs so we're still in with a shout if Liverpool are sold.

They are the last three Arab oil rich states following, Qatar (PSG), UAE (Man City) and Saudi (NUFC).

Liverpool will get bought by a sovereign state, and then the Glazers will finally sell and the FA/UEFA will bring in a new rule that outlaws any state buying a club from that point forward.
Who's left? The Russians are banned. Dubai? China?

Plenty of United fans would happily see the club used by a state for sportswashing. Plenty of our fans are no better than City/Newcastle fans.

Plenty? They’d lose so many fans it’s unreal. Might as well buy a smaller club in that case

China have stopped investing in 'western' sporting teams, think they sold or planning to sell their stake in City to the Yanks, Silver Lake I think

Hope they have a leveraged buy out. In this day, with interest rates as they are, they'll not be competitive for years' at best.
They won't. A leveraged buyout no longer passes the fit and propper test. Has to be equity.

Not all. feck the gulf states and their sport washing projects. Ratcliffe is the only person I'd like to see the club sold too.

The first thing I did upon hearing this news was mocking friends who support Liverpool. It’s not good news for them.

People thinking the grass is greener on the other side will be down for disappointment.

How do you even know this could turn out amazing for them no one knows.

Sure it can, but it can be horrible as well. At this point they got owners who are pretty decent tbh.
Not sure about that, aren’t they a sell to buy club? A little investment could be just what they need.

Sorry if been posted:

Imagine…
Ratcliffe seems like a bit of a (very rich) poser. The way he declared his interest in Chelsea was very odd, as he knew full well when all the deadlines where and then all of a sudden put in a bid well past the deadline.

I suspect he'll have his name floating about, however I am unsure he is actually serious.

Its going to be tough for anyone to splunk Billions at a football club in this time of such financial instability and nailed on recession in 2023 ( if we arnt in one already )

I think FSG is trying to secure their initial investment capital then slowly sell away their ownership as markets stabilize

Supports United.
Season ticket holder at Chelsea.
I bet he'll say Liverpool were his father's favourite team or something.
Wasn't Robbie Keane the same way? He practically had to invent relatives in order to express the deep emotional bonds that he had with all 20 of the clubs he played for.

Do they really need a sugar daddy when they can just extend the contracts of Milner, Henderson and Keita?

The more it goes, this is the reality we have to face with Ratcliffe. It's obvious that he's not willing to go all the way after leaking stuff in the papers.

As for United, I guess I just want Mitsubishi Heavy Industries to buy the club and then create a bridge between us and their club Urawa Red Diamonds (who already wear the same color patterns as us!).

I agree. One of the reasons that I would rather City win things than you is that what ever they win is irrelevant because of where their backing came from.

Norway have plenty of money too...
I'm not sure if there's anything technically preventing the NBIM from investing in a big football club (not to mention outright buying it), but it 's extremely unlikely to happen for any number of reasons.

zero I would say

there is no money to be made in that deal
True.

If you look at what the Glazers have taken out in dividends over the years, it's been a good investment for them - but only because they didn't actually pony up much of their own money to begin with. If they'd had to buy the club fair and square (so to speak), they wouldn't have done it: football clubs don't generate that much profit, they're very expensive to run.

Yeah, it defies the goal of the state pension fund's investment vision. Good lucking trying to sell a prospect of buying a football club as some sort of wise investment that will benefit future generations.

Might be wrong here, but kinda doubt Dubai would go against its big brother and (former?) sugar daddy by being a direct competitor in the same market.

From the 10 minutes of research I did earlier today I can say With total confidence I can agree with this statement. Dubai seems to rely quite a lot on Abu Dhabi financially; why would Abu Dhabi be okay with Dubai competing with them like this?

Abu Dhabi has been funding every Emirate and bailed out Dubai more than once (ie the last financial crisis). The past few years has seen Dubai trying to be less dependant on Abu Dhabi and oil in general by focusing on creating a tourism and financial hub and investing heavily in renewable energy sources. In that way buying a direct competitor might be seen as another step towards "independence". Then again their governments are closely linked so doubt it. Also Dubai's size of investment fund can't match Abu Dhabi's - but could easily hold their own in a different league.

If they get bankrolled to the extent of city and Newcastle it is game over for the likes of us. Actually think with their history, global fanbase etc it’s even more worrying than the other two.

I think if they get new owners they'll get stronger because they have everything in place structurally on the football side of the club. And that structure started taking shape after Damien Comolli was brought to the club, who in-turn brought Edwards and the data science head (Graham) to the club after getting to know them from his time at Tottenham. FSG fired Comolli after a short time but he had put in place the people who would prove to be very important in Liverpool's success in the long-term. They also have the face of a potential new project in Jurgen Klopp, and he's among the best in the world in his role as the head coach.

I think as far as the United owners are concerned, I feel they will sell within the next two years but it will be a sale done in secrecy imo. I also think a potential Liverpool sale would put even more pressure on the Glazers.
Is this even possible given we're on the stock market?

What I meant was that like FSG who made it known to the media about a possible sale, we likely won't be hearing of something similar with the Glazers due to how secretive and closed to the outside world they appear.

Plenty openly want it but I do wonder how many would genuinely be bothered if we were bought for sportswashing.

I did remember thinking they'd start buying clubs like Abu Dhabi and Qatar but I guess they don't really care about their western image.

Agreed. I wouldn't mind some other businessman. FSG are actually really good for Liverpool and I'd like those kinds of owners.
