Where is the great man ranked amongst the all time greatest United players?

Is he the best United player this century?

Wanted to to leave to sign for City.

Loved him as a player but always find that a bitter pill.

Tailed off in 2013 but crucially did not talk to Piers Morgan on a huge platform when it was time to go.

So I like him more than that other guy.

I am of an age where I was a young fella when we had both Rooney and Ronaldo. As much as I appreciated the Portuguese as a better player, I always loved Rooney much much more. He was a beast at times and is undoubtedly a club legend

Above C.Ronaldo that's for sure. But not sure where he ranks all time. I have him below Charlton, Law, Best, Giggs and Cantona.

Always been hilarious how much shit he's gotten over the years on here and yet we've had people worship Ronaldo. Glad that might end now.

Legend. You'd never see him eyeing a move to City like that devil Ronaldo

ROOONEY
or being unfit seasons after seasons, bad news off the field, nor getting a big fat contract while played like a retiree at the end.

That's not our Rooney.

Stevie G tried to leave Liverpool.

I don't think I was happier with a signing than I was the day we got him.

Best literally walked out on the club when times got tough, didn’t talk to less talented players. Doesn’t deserve the statue. Far worse than anything Ronaldo did

Best had his demons but still gave us his best years. Ronaldo was desperate to leave us and gave his best years to Madrid.

He's a bona-fide United legend.

I genuinely think people forget that he was literally one of the best footballers in the world at one point.

People forget how much dirty work he did so Ronaldo could flourish.

He sacrificed his game for others.

A true United legend.

Some on here worshipped Ronaldo more than Rooney did.

I can't even imagine the vitriol Rooney would have gotten if he actually left like a certain Portuguese did when we were at the top of the footballing world basically.

I know we're all very unhappy with Ronaldo right now but let's not crack on Rooney was a saint towards the end.

He was very lucky Fergie retired when he did because that working relationship was over due to his behaviour.

He wasn't a saint, but he was a proper United legend.

And he handled his decline far far better than Ronaldo did.

Best literally walked out on his own life. He was a seriously ill guy.

Well I suppose he handled his decline better in terms of acceptance. But you could argue he also caused a very premature decline. It's still overlooked at how drastically he tailed off for a player that good. Rarely talked about.

And as I say, his ending at United would have been very different had Fergie stayed. No way Fergie was tolerating him anymore and you know the outcome when that happens.

A little bit like Ronaldo he was demanding top class players should be signed and missing the elephant in the room. That he himself was no longer top class.

When he demanded that in 2010, he was the best player in the league and top 5 in the world.

Feet up at home.
He is far more a legend than the dickhead interviewee this week.

Yep he listened to his agent too much but he stayed and apologized every time he asked away when it was all sorted.

Only cloud was the final contract but you can't blame him for that.

09/10 - we win the league and CL if he doesnt suffer that horrible injury. He probably wins the Balon dor as well.

True. Getting my Rooney wanting to leave incidents mixed up. That was 2010.

2013 he wanted out because we'd signed a top class player like he wanted in RvP and he was no longer first choice.

What Ronaldo is currently doing is way worse but Rooney really didn't cover himself in glory in Fergie's final years. To say the least.

2013, I agree.

He could have gone about it better, but he didn't throw nuclear bombs in a public meltdown like Ronaldo just did with Piers Morgan of all people.

And when Mourinho was easing Rooney out of the team, I don't recall him acting anywhere near as unprofessional as Ronaldo has.

Great player, had a few issues with transfer requests and staying one contract too long but ultimately he was involved in a great period with some top class performances and goals. A unique player in that you don't usually get strikers his age (when he broke into the Everton team) so strong physically. Probably could have achieved even more with better luck with injuries, which is incredible given what he did achieve.
