I hope that this will serve a lesson to all United fans. Most players see football as a JOB. They only exploit your love to their benefit. I am not suggesting that you shouldn't admire players but thread carefully here. You're a Manchester United supporter not this or that player/coach/manager/former player supporter

Eh, I don't know about that. Old Trafford crowd is something different.
They will still sing "Viva Ronaldo" no matter what happen unless Club issues matchban for whoever does that.
then they would be idiots.

Which is the right thing to do, as long as he's a United player. We've had outbursts from Keane, RVN etc in the past and they're still viewed as heros. Anyone who's watched Ronaldo's initial spell wouldn't have hatred towards him. That being said, he's an absolute idiot and don't think he'll ever wear the United shirt again.

Once a great player who still thinks he's a great player now trying to protect his legacy. Basically, trying to divide the fans against the manager and club. "I'm still great today but, but". Statistics prove United are a better team without him in the team which proves EtH, Neville and Rooney right.

We all know the club has been a shambles since Sir Alex left. We don't need Ronaldo to remind us of the last decade of failures by those at the club making decisions. The irony is signing Ronaldo was another massive mistake by those exact same people whose failure Ronaldo is flagging up.

Seems he must have something lined up after the WC.

When are Ronaldo fanbois going to realise that he loves himself more than any fan or club.
Most players/former players do. Ole went on holiday to Norway in the middle of a fecking crisis. Do you get attached to your job? Same thing.

It would be to sweet for him if we terminate his contract and let him leave for free.

Just keep him with the U21 and make him regret what he said. Think United can afford paying 6 month of his wages and make him cry with the U21.

Hope that you understand now that all of this players are selfish and only think about them.

He missed pre season, wanted to leave, played and was horrible, was on the bench, but OMG the club is at fault... Useless

The club should challenge him by reminding him that if he wants he can always buy his contract up. If he refuses then he'll come out worse then he is now.

Poisoning the U21's just to make a point doesn't benefit us at all. We won't do that and rightfully so.

Stats indeed but the most telling aspect is the eye test. It's so easy to see the team is better without him

If they doubted him for not coming to pre season over his daughter being in the hospital I am not surprised that upset him. Especially when his track record shows he has never missed anything ever and the one time he did he got questioned over it.

So once again if his daughter was truly sick during that time as he says and considered he literally just lost a child a few months before hand who shared a womb with the one who was allegedly in the hospital can you blame him ? How would you feel as a parent ?
The club went out of it's way to protect Ronaldo. Told the press it was private and put no date on his ruturn.

If I was United then I'd ignore it. Any question forwarded would be replied with United being willing to let Ronaldo go if he buys the rest of his contract. The ball would then go back in Ronaldo's court. He'll either pay up or he'll be branded as a mercenary.

Man Utd disappointed with Ronaldo interview
Sky Sports News understands Erik ten Hag and Manchester United players are extremely disappointed with the manner and timing of Cristiano Ronaldo's shock interview with TalkTV.
Ronaldo's interview with Piers Morgan was announced on Sunday night with the 37-year-old saying he feels "betrayed" by the club for wanting to sell him and that he has "no respect" for manager Ten Hag.
The club only found out about the interview as they were preparing to fly back from London after their 2-1 victory over Fulham on Super Sunday.

United do not understand why he has said what he has said. They are hugely disappointed that he would disrespect the club, his manager and team-mates in this way.

The club are likely to consider all their options now regarding the player.

Ronaldo was told on Thursday that he would not be in the starting XI against Fulham but he would have been in the squad. He told the club he was ill.

No one at United has ever criticised or disrespected Ronaldo - even when he refused to come on as a substitute against Tottenham recently.

He isn’t going to win a war with ETH. He keeps talking about being promised game time and what not but he’s been given plenty of it and he hasn’t delivered.Being told you’re part of the managers plans doesn’t translate to “You will start every game regardless of form”

I reckon ETH had every intention of using Ronaldo this season but frankly he hasn’t delivered when given the minutes so he’s been dropped. That’s not breaking a promise it’s just doing your job as the boss.

His personal attack on Rooney shows the character of the man really. So petty and so insecure about himself. Rooney was asked about his behaviour on the radio and rightly criticised it.

The only thing he got right was the criticism of the clubs facilities and lack of progress since he left, but he would have known that before he came. It wasn’t a secret and he had friends within the club who would have told him everything he needed to know.

I fear being stuck with him for the rest of the season now because we saw in the summer that none of the big clubs wanted him. Given his form and his attitude it’s even more unlikely someone takes him now.

If Ronaldo was so worried about his daughter then he shouldn't have handled a transfer request. That's extra unnecessary stress surrounding him and his family. Once he did so then its only natural that people will doubt his true intentions.

So he decided not to be in the squad.

The bit about him looking better than Rooney is so incredibly petty and lame. And typical Ronaldo.

One of the main reasons we are doing so well at the moment is firstly Ronaldo just doesnt fit the system. He's lost the pace, hes lost the pass, hes even lost the eye for goal to an extent.

As a result we are spreading the goals out more. Everyone is chipping in. For the past few weeks its seemed like when he was playing all of the players were just trying to find the pass to him. Whether thats because they feared the backlash from him or what but numerous times I was saying to myself that it was the wrong option. Last year he had 24 goals, Bruno had 10 then it was single figures. That shows to me that we were doing the same thing last year as this year, only now hes dropped off a cliff its not coming off.

I dont know what exactly he was expecting from this. Ultimately the journos end up creating (or in this case it will be skewing) the narrative and none of the responses I've seen are backing Ronaldo. The United side will be pushing anti-Ronaldo stories through things like The Athletic all the way through December.

feck him off, get a striker in and let Ten Hag carry on the rebuild.

I don't think that's an official statement. This guy is the only journo that tweeted that:

And he's not exactly reliable. If it was an official brief more journo's would have reported on it.

I do expect something to come out today regarding this but I'll wait for Laurie Whitwell/Ornstein or Simon Stone to report it.

It's a really odd move by him, he must think he's leaving in Jan, because why would United owe him any favours after doing that? I also don't see why any club would want him if he's willing to just publically slate us, he'd do it with anyone.

I can't imagine we'll do anything for him after this interview.

At least the club has nowehere to hide when someone like Cristiano comes out and says lot of things at the club are 10-15 yrs behind, in terms of infrastructure and technology.
Yeah someone self serving like Ronaldo who isn't good enough to even start for us. It's important to take into the view of qualified people trying to make things better - like ETH rather than people like Ronaldo who add to our list of issues.

haven't seen/heard that. I'd love to assume it was meant as a joke but really childish. was this in the Morgan interview? that's the sort of thing Moron loves because he's also pretty pathetic

We need a solution where he agrees to forfeit the wage.

His exit should be done on the clubs terms

I am not comparing like for like. However you do agree that a manager role in the middle of a crisis is to rally the troops not to feck off to a holiday. Which leads back to what I said. Most people in football see their role as a job. Its naïve to think otherwise.

His first stint was "unbelievable" for one season. Of those final three seasons, which were his most prolific at United, Rooney matched his goals in one of the seasons. Rooney throughout his career also outscored him in two more seasons than Ronnie's three "best".

Rudd Van Nistelrooy outscored him in 2 of the 3 "best Ronaldo seasons", as did Dwight Yorke. Best, Law, Charlton. I'm sure they'd have a thing to say about the other two seasons that Ronaldo had that apparently show his "legendary" status despite also doing the same. Hell, Rudd and Law have higher goalscoring numbers in a single season than Ronaldo's best year. But let's not forget that whilst Ronaldo was pumping these high numbers (and they are impressive but not exactly unheard of) he was also surrounded by a circus created by his people.

So in summary a player who was here for six seasons, had one season where he was incredibly prolific, which he capped off with the whole "slave" debacle, which is apparently enough to put him on the same pantheons as players who had better overall careers at the club statically and didn't leave a trail of shit and selfishness on their way to the next big paycheck. Nah, I'm really not buying the stuff about Ronaldo being a United legend because he had one amazing season.
No one said legend. Legacy is a different word. 06/07 was an unbelievable season, you’ll even hear Gary Neville argue it was his favourite season watching Ronaldo play, because it was a combination of his trickery and a development towards his directness. He was still a pure winger at that point and got 23 goals and 14 assists. The following season wasn’t just ‘incredible’ it was arguably the best season a player has had for us at least in this century. And the final season was still phenomenal. You have to remember he was still predominantly a winger at this point, so saying ‘Rooney or RVN scored more’ isn’t really why you say.

You can try and rewrite history, but when you have countless United players saying he was the best they’d ever trained with then maybe there’s something there. I’m gonna trust Scholes, Hargreaves, Rio, Gary etc in their assessment of him over you here.

Nah, you feck off.

Man's a legend, ignore this nonsense his pride is hurting
Legendary player, legendary career, Real Madrid legend.

Not a United legend. He’s the next tier though

Football wise Ronaldo will always be one of my favourite players in a united shirt just always been so great for us.

However his antics the first time around when he wanted to leave and his antics now have left a very sour taste in the mouth.

I assume this will be him done in a united shirt and he will either show what he can still do at the world cup and get a good sized club sign him. Or he does not and goes to the MLS or someother 2nd step league.

It really is a shame this is how it ends for him I think

agree it's not official but you can be pretty sure it's been said by someone but with the agreement that no one is yet named. and I did say "sort of"
