Yeah I don't see this as nailed on as others, it doesn't have to mean calling Rooney a rat. It's also a minor thing in the grand scheme of things, this whole interview was a disaster, especially for him
Yep, it's a daft idea doing such an interview. Unless the end game is to cheese the club off and engineer an exit it does seem odd.
But he's not nearly gone as hard as everyone thought to achieve that. So it is a bizarre situation.

You're reading it the way you want to read it.
He didn't say "Rooney is a rat". He was light heartedly saying "and the other rats" when Rooney's criticism came up.
He said 'rest of the rats'. Sandikan and the rest of the rats. I'm saying you're a rat too. Which to be fair is probably right.

Ronaldo was going to tell the truth which would explain everything. NOTHING in this interview was not already known.

Except — if I understood it correctly — him claiming that he never wanted out this summer, teams where making offers for him, but he turned them down because he was happy to stay in Manchester.

That is a half big deal.
If you take it as face value sure. Or it could be a load of bollocks, and realised that after Mendes had spent the summer trying to flog him to every big club in Europe to no success, he decided staying at United was his best bet at getting fit for the world cup instead of wasting away in Saudi.

He didn’t call Rooney a rat, just used rat in the same sentence.
If I said "Deery and the rest of the bizarre Ronaldo fanboy cultists who make excuses for Ronaldos bad behaviour" you wouldn't take that as me calling you a bizarre Ronaldo fanboy cultist who makes excuses for Ronaldo's bad behaviour by implying you are associated with a group of bizarre Ronaldo fanboy cultists who make excuses for Ronaldo's bad behavior?

Why would Ronaldo agree to a truce?
Because the only way he'll leave will be to a club with similar status, wage, and one he'll start every game at.
It's hard to see such a club queuing up.

He actually was starting a range of games before his little "Illness" and you can't see Martial managing say 6 games in a row. Martial is a play 2 miss 5 sort of guy.

As a straight dude I'm obviously not the best judge but, is he really that good looking? I honestly don't think so. Tries too hard to look younger.

Why would Ronaldo agree to a truce?
also: why would the club? Ronaldo has scored a single goal in the league this season, disrespected the club several times already and has now taken a massive dump on the club with this interview. To say that he's not worth the headache anymore is an understatement.

I'm probably in a minority here, but I reckon both sides might form an unlikely 6 month truce.

Otherwise we'll be left basically relying on Rashy/Martial for 6months, and he's got to somehow find a club akin to United for status, but one he'll play more often at!
I think both sides will be struggling here.
No way that's happening.

The weirdly manicured eyebrows, plastic face and dodgy earring doesn't really do it for me. As a straight guy there's plenty of men I'll go gay for, but PR7 just aint it.

Didn’t he know this before this interview? He only gave it last Friday!

Why would Ronaldo agree to a truce?
Why would ETH agree to a truce? It seems that Ronaldo is being purposely disruptive and he disrespected the manager. Can he actually be trusted?

You are literally doing this your self wtf...

This is a problem with the intricacies of the English language it can mean both things at the same time, either pointing out Rooney and the others who are rats or it can mean they all are and he singled Rooney out by name only CR7 knows himself what he meant.

This is the way I see it as well. Could be interpreted both ways, although the latter meaning seems a bit more common

Well if we all believe what the press reckoned, why did he make it clear he was off in the summer, when no-one came in for him?
We don't know the real truth unfortunately. We all go off snippets in the media, and what we want to believe.

"Rooney and the other rats" means he meant Rooney was one as well. Stop trying to make Ronaldo sound better than he was.
It's just such a weird thing to get hung up on. This forum itself has given Rooney a sh!ttonne of abuse over the years.

The only important stuff is what is he actually trying to achieve from this, and what do the club think about it, how will they re-act, and what are we going to do up front for half a season!

Wayne needs to get Coleen to hack his Instagram.

On a serious note, imagine being Wayne's kids watching this and seeing their dad being called a Rat for nothing more than offering his opinion.

The only way I see that happening is if United can't get a striker in January. Keeping him after this will be hell for the rest of the season, it will be like a black cloud over the team.

“Not just him, imagine what the others rats would think”

he’s obviously holding Rooney in higher regard that others that criticise him, I mean if you can’t understand that.

I'm not sure how a any manager can trust somebody who doesn't respects him. He has said things that can't be unsaid.

fecking hell he's clearly also calling Rooney a rat there.

The lengths you go to, to defend Ronaldo are absurd.

Ok having seen the entire interview now I've got to say that those initial clips made it sound worse than it is

His relationship with ETH isn't good and I think everyone knows ETH probably didn't want him around when he took the job. Everyone also knows Ronaldo's got an ego and he isn't going to take not starting every game

No need for this drama let him leave, thank him for what he's done for the club and let him play for someone who's happy to start him
Thank him? You're kidding?
