The goalie wasn't the last defender. He came out and there was one defender goalside of him so if the Ecuadorian was ahead of the goalie he was offside right?
There is more than one defender behind him though so that rule shouldn't be taken in to account.

If there's only 1 defender behind him then the offside line is where the GK is.

Offside is second-to-last defender. In this case, the keeper. Not clear-cut but also not "clearly onside" like some are suggesting IMO.

It's offside because there has to space between the Ecuador player and the second to last Qatari player. Ordinarily that's the defender ahead of the goalkeeper but as he rushed forward the player on the line was the last one.
