Ayye more than likely. But a guy can dream ey.

I think that's why rhe Ratcliffe 'Elderly fan doing it for the love of the club' appeals to so many.
I fully understand that. More appealing than the aura of pure evil or insanity some other potential buyers exude.

Not when the Glazers want 6 billion. Add 2 Billion on infrastructure and 2 on players over 10 years.
10 billion all in. That is a lot of money to earn for a football club.
Realistically the only option is an oil state. Businesses will have a hard time turning a profit.
Maybe I've misunderstood you there, but I don't see how the 6bill asking price has anything to do with possible self sufficiency going forward. We wouldn't be buying ourselves, afterall.

What I meant is that we can pay for those squad and infrastructure payments from the profit the club makes to the level required tk challenge for the top honours, especially with more competent management in place. There's no need for outside cash injections.

Apple can outright buy the premier league broadcasting rights. What they need is content they can show exclusively on Apple TV. Not a football club.

Someone that will invest in the stadium (either refurb or new), training facilities, players, youth team/ academy. Doesn’t take money out of the club and provides enough of a budget to keep up with all the other wealthy clubs.

The United brand should do the rest.

If things move to clubs negotiating their own tv deals, like in other countries, then there would be a huge return on whatever it would cost to buy us.
That would be attractive to any buyer - but for Apple it would drive a huge audience to their tv platform.
Also, they could integrate United within their Fitness app I’m sure.

Which begs the question, how firm is the PL deal as a collective deal?

Last I checked it would take 14 clubs out of 20 to vote for a major rule change like that. So its very doubtful that it would ever happen, since only the big clubs would benefit from the rule change.

That is built into the EPL rules for media contracts or for general voting?

If this trend of US private company buying happens, Apple buys us then Disney buys Liverpool then they become the Mickey Mouse Club?

As I understand it, its the model of distribution that's voted on, irrespective of the contract. For the income to be distributed in a different way it takes a vote.

Apple would be a dream. They will want the club to be break even. £5bn plus circa £50m per year gets them one of the best sports marketing platforms on the planet. They have cash of £40bn doing nothing.

Apple are way worse than Ratcliffe or your generic nasty billionaire. They use the wealth of an extremely rich country (they've got assets worth more than the entirety of Saudi Arabia) to do some incredibly heinous shit in places like the Congo, bribing officials to turn a blind eye to slave and child labour. They're the corporate face of everything we hate about Qatar.

I draw the line at states, obvious state actors and these super-corporations that function as states through foreign nations. Nobody we're going to get as an owner will be a decent person, but I'd rather them be subject to laws of a land rather than being able to set them.

As for Ratcliffe, that's your opinion, I can't pretend to know enough about his actual wealth or motivation to confirm or deny your suspicions.

You can include any consumer electronics company in that statement.

Not quite. Every consumer electronics company uses those materials but I'd argue no company has been as instrumental in blocking any kind of worker welfare reform and pressuring for further destruction of worker rights in places where they get their raw materials.

There's a moral difference between those who ride the wave and those who make the waves.

The only people I would trust to come in and actually care about us winning trophies are oil merchants. Everybody else will want to make a profit before anything else. We will not compete with City and Newcastle with this mindset.

A non-oil private investor that will run us with a trophy first mindset would be the most ideal. Nobody that can afford United will be good people. I'll take anybody that wants to win over making a profit and taking money out of the club.

Elon Musk would be a terrible option. He's already destroying Twitter in a short time span. He's the type of guy that wants to be extremely hands on when he has no idea what he's doing. United need specialists. The new owners need to hire people that actually know what they're doing.

This Apple and Ortega family fanily needs to stop.

I doubt even the Middle Easterns are buying us. 6b is a lot of money regardless how you want to look at it. PSG, City and Newcastle were all bought for less than 300m each.

The American businessmen are here and are here to stay.

Musk is not destroying Twitter and he did not get to be as rich as he is by being dumb

Who do you think could be examples of non oil investors interested in buying the club

Him being the owner caused a bunch of core advertisers to pull out straight away. His Twitter Blue changes were exploited within minutes of going live. His posting of incorrect information to his millions of followers about backend issues that were corrected by employees that have been working on them for years. Then fires the people that know what they're doing for correcting him.

I didn't say he was dumb. He's obviously not. He will want to be hands on in space he knows nothing about. The drama he will cause will also not be worth it.

There is barely anybody. That's the point. A lot of fans won't want oil investors, but I'm scared that most other investors will be the Glazers v2.

Yeah I think stories on prospective buyers outside of oil investors has really dried up sadly

Not entirely sure you've understood what he meant by the club paying for itself given the 2bn you've added for infastructure and 2bn for players.
That's the whole point. It won't pay for itself because the cost of purchase is just too high.
Sure the club will chug along if you spend only what the club earns.
Any "normal" buyer will want an ROI and it's just not feasible with a 6 billion price tag.

A purchase price is a red number for the entity buying the club. The said entity might not care about that number,
but if it does, it has to be repaid from somewhere. Might even be 2 billion+ in loans that has to be paid interest on.

Constantly at the STD clinic.
I can’t help feeling that yes he may be a fan but ultimately he’s another money grabbing businessman who will seek to maximise all that will make him dividends
Are we waiting for some billionaire who is clean and just gifts their money to us?

We realistically have a few options. One who has the club for some other advertisement and invests in it or ones who sucks the blood from it for a profit.

Honestly? I don’t care anymore. There’s no perfect buyer out there. Whoever buys us I guarantee we will be talking about them negatively for some reason

Apple would be amazing but surely the investors wouldn’t be happy. 10 billion on a football club?

It doesn’t seem very Apple like to me. They have never done anything like that before. Do Microsoft then buy Liverpool? I’ve always been a Mac guy so I backed the right horse if so :D

Jim Ratcliffe I don’t want. Don’t think he has the money to compete with these Middle East money pit owners. At least Apple theoretically would have some new ideas.

Middle East ownership is boring. Seen it before not really a fan at all of blatant cheating.

I will buy Manchester United. Pool all your monies and send it my way. I'll handle the rest.
