Seems energy will be a very important component of any potential winners of the WC.
Yep. Hopefully we can wrap up the group today and let our second string smash Wales on Tuesday.

We really missed out on Cassiedo.
The worst part is we are absolutely huge in Ecuador thanks to Tony V.

You have to go all the way back to Alberto Spencer in the 60s to find an Ecuadorian that played at the summit of the highest level.

This whole praying after every game/goal is really ridiculous

Ecuador should have won really. Shame for them, but I still fancy them to beat Senegal. I think 1st or 2nd is going to come down to goal difference

Ecuador should've won that probably. Horrible game from Netherlands, really disappointed in them these first 2 games. They'll likely win the group and get to the quarter finals so whatever at the end of the day, but still. As a dark horse team you really want to build some momentum, not struggle through an easier group

If Ecuador beat Senegal they could still win the group even if the Netherlands do beat Qatar
Who tops the group if both Ecuador & Netherlands finish with identical results in their final matchday? Both have the same GD and goals scored.

You can see the European teams had no proper preparation and directly went from the league to the WC.

Forgive my ignorance but how come Brazil, Ecuador, Colombia and Peru have lots of black players (I'm assuming also in their general population) but Argentina and Uruguay don't?

It's definitely not the most inspiring Dutch team, very one paced and pedestrian and I suppose that's partly LVG for you but they'll likely win the group and still do alright.

The team with the least amount of yellow cards. Currently Netherlands have 1, Ecuador have 3.

Totally agree. It's cringe. Christians and Muslims seem to do it alot.

Should be told to do it in private. Its for nothing other than attention

It's crazy to think that 20 years ago Holland and Italy had so many good players you didn't know who to pick. No idea what's going on at the youth level. If you look closely at the players born in the 80s. Italy's failed miserably there's like 3 maybe 4 players born in that decade you could say were among the elite or at least good enough to be mentioned among the elite.
Germany too. After 2004 Germany started struggling but they quickly found next generation. By 2010 their new generation was settled and they peaked in 2014. But after that their graph is continuously going down.

Italy in mid 2000s as you rightly said had plethora of talent. But today I struggle to name their 11 players.

Netherlands after 2010 generation has never really found a sustainable talent pool.

None of these have elite level 3-4 players who can carry them. Which is very strange as I am not used to seeing them like this for this long.

A shame Netherlands couldn't win. Oh well, it was insured so I'll get my money back

I fail to understand what Holland were trying to do the whole game. Pass, pass, pass, overhit pass; Ecuador throw-in, ball inevitably won back by Blind/Virgil/Ake in Holland's final third and repeat. Another concern for me was how lethargic all of them looked, they were second to absolutely everything. Gakpo, goal aside, didn't impress me, either.

Honestly shocked that Weston starts again considering he was poor and came off injured against Wales.

And still no Reyna. After the Wales match Berhlater was hammered by US media on why he did not bring him on and he said multiple times it was because Reyna was injured. Reyna's reply was I am 100%, no problems.

Imagine being annoyed by that.
Nothing that keeps me up at night. But still annoying :) Just like diving or complaining to the ref is annoying to me, even though they are all part of the game.

Probably larger numbers/percentage of enslaved Africans in those countries, leading to larger percentages of descendents of those slaves.
