Dion Dublin should stick to knocking fireplaces out of auction houses.

He’s mentioned his football career about ten times already.

Chris Sutton is constantly negative. Why do they hire commentators who clearly hate football?

I don’t mind foreign pundits, but Pouchettino is so hard to understand. His English is terrible.

I knows it’s World cup history etc but surely the BBC themselves gets tired of constantly talking about 86 and mostly 90? It’s turning into snooker a bit when the pundits are constantly talking about their own history

Gary Lineker is the reason. He loves talking about himself.

You hardly even hear about 98, it’s always David Platts goal, Bobby Robson, Gazza’s tears. I can’t think of many mentions of 2018 which is ridiculous

BBC and ITV constantly one-upping the other for shiteness of commentators this WC.

Both sets of BBC commentators today are horrendous, but Matterface will no doubt find a way to out-awful them later.

How did Matterface get the big gig at ITV anyway? He’s passable as a commentator but he’s too try-hard with trying to force a legendary soundbite that will reverberate in pop culture. It’s like he’s more pre-occupied in reeling off the good lines he thought of all day rather than calling the match, and letting good soundbites come naturally.

Karen Carney somehow managed to say the term ‘knockout football’ like 10 times in a 2 minute bit with Laura Woods.

Shit punditry is not exclusive to the male gender obviously

I fecking hate this guy and his stupid name. Hate him. I remember his commentary at the Euros in the Denmark game and the final. Vomit inducing stuff.

Carney and Aluko are absolutely shite. Complete contrast to Scott and Georges for the BBC who are excellent.

Dixon and Matterface must be the worst combo.

"They're improving year-on-year-out."

It's either 'year in, year out' or 'year on year' Jenas you prick.

In last night's game I'm sure I heard Lee Dixon say that teams at the World Cup are full of internationals.

I’m shocked ITV have stuck with Matterface after how rightly panned he was after the Euros.
Twatterface is the worst, he’s obsessed with making these grandios statements, perfect lines of commentary that’d last for the ages. I’m sure it’s the dream of every commentator to have a “they think it’s all over”, or “and Solksjaer has won it” moment, but when you’re trying so hard, all the time, it just makes the general commentary awful to listen to. Good commentary should sound natural.

Minamino's time in Germany went well, according to Jenas. Has he even played there? No of course not, but don't let that get in the way of anything.

Please please tell me somebody heard Aluko there...

19 goals in 40 appearances. Do the math. It's one goal a game...

Can we not just start getting fun commentators and pundits.... not just boring ex-players regardless of sex.

Bring on Goldbridge 2026.

I like McCoist. Sounds like he actually appreciates being paid to watch the World Cup live. Unlike dour bastards like Dixon.

Amazon have the novel concept of a no commentary option for their little glut of Premier League games they’ve acquired. Why this has not caught on with other broadcasters is beyond me.

With the advancements in audio and visual, it would be a much more immersive experience too.

He is generally great but today why is he not getting that the Koreans have nothing to lose now and may as well go for broke in what is potentially a once in a lifetime experience

I get they are leaving themselves exposed but so what, it's a chance many may not think will come again. May as well go down swinging

There is going for it and there is being suicidal though. The 2 CMs are playing as number 10s.

Also the refusal to cross the ball is insane playing a 442. I can't remember a single cross they've put in

Usually the most enthusiastic, and the likes of Dixon and Sutton should remember this is a privileged job, not some sort of community service.

However, tonight, he seems not to be enjoying it, amazed the Koreans are playing in such a dim fashion.

We have the President of the Estonian Football Association as an expert commentator at Brazil's game atm. And at the start of the second half, he had a great story time from 2017, where he rode in the same taxi with Eto, Maradona, and Cafu, it was in St Petersburg and Maradona tried to steal Eto's hat with some jewels on it :D
