This Portugal team has so much potential but playing that bellend up top and Santos' tactics are hamstringing the team.

Cancelo is just average for Portugal. His attack contribution can't cover his weakness on defending. I wonder why Dalot couldn't get a chance.

Two months ago, the majority of our fans here wanted Dalot to be sold as soon as possible!...

Honestly think they are strong enough to win it. There are no teams that are absolutely miles better than the other kind off strong teams. They have a great midfield, good attack. Even if they do carry Ronnie a bit you can never rule out that he'll score or claim a goal. Brazil and France are missing some strong players,

This thread is absolutely vile. The hatred some in here are spewing toward Ronaldo is bordering psychotic, you would think he shagged your mum or ran over your dog.

He has you so deranged that you are believing the fakest of news stories. Yea Portugal totally is appealing to change the goal to be his, totally legit!

At this point, it wouldn’t surprise me if Portugal suddenly looked like Brazil or France in terms of serious favourites if they dropped Ronaldo and put Felix in for example.

That seems to be the effect these days.

Nah, that's all theater.

Ronaldo is the true manager.
Oh he's definitely starting but correct me if I'm wrong, this is the first time Santos has ever publicly spoke negatively about Ronaldo, which is a bit bizarre considering most people think he's only in the job because of Ronaldo/Mendes.

I don't really know, so I was just telling my impression, and even that is somewhat in jest.

Still, I would be far less surprised if this annoyance of Fernando Santos is somewhat fake (i.e., Ronaldo knew he would say something like that and is OK with it) than Santos going out of his way to cause unnecessary problems right now. Fernando Santos is somewhat mocked by fans, as we all assume Ronaldo is the boss, so that may just have been a deliberate action to make it look otherwise.

Makes sense, you're obviously more knowledgeable in this subject than I am.

They've looked quite good and are beating a very defensive team with ease (Morocco will set up in a similar way in the quarter final?). Bruno is on fire  , defence and midfield looks good, potential World Champions?

Can they beat England or France in the semis?

They’ve done this and probably their best game.

Good call. Second half to go still

Félix is so silky on the ball, he had a couple of nice skills and flicks and even had a run reminiscent of Kaká where he split past 4 guys

Thing is their sub bench is so deep, if Santos gets the tactics right against France/ England (if they get there) they have a real shot. Midfield in particular they have about 6 great options on the bench.

How dare they disrespect Ronaldo!

United better without him, Portugal better without him...strange set of coincidences.

They look so dangerous. Can't get carried about but the attack with Silva felix and Bruno is scary

Santos is the professor. The disrespect he gets here is ridiculous.

I have a bet for Portugal and Netherlands to meet on the final.
And another for Brazil. I m quite that Santos finally realized that CR cant do it.

I always said they had the potential to be the best side but probably wouldn't do too much because I didn't think they'd drop Ronaldo. But he did it, and they put in the best performance of the world cup so far and look pretty scary you have to say.

They’re pretty awesome. They’ve got great attacking depth and are without Diogo Jota, which would have been even more terrifying.

Most impressive thing is just how young most of the squad are. Most of them will still be there in 2 world cups time. Should be a very exciting time for any Portugal fan.

Bit of a shame for Ronaldo though. Could've scored for fun if they'd all emerged 5 years earlier..
