Do you Ronaldo Stan's have no pride or dignity, being unable to admit when you're wrong is a very bad trait to have.

How can people be expected to develop and grow as a person when they cannot be humble and accept defeat or being proven wrong.
If you or any other person think winning something for Argentina is more impressive then Ronaldo for Portugal then this is pointless.

It’s like saying Haaland should have the same level of success as Mbappe even though he plays for fecking norway.

The point is clear and Obvious, if you’re lucky to be born in a contending country then you have an advantage. If Ronaldo was Brazilian would he not most likely have multiple copas and a World Cup? Obviously.

If Messi was Spanish he would have 1 World Cup and 2 euros. Is it cause Messi is the goat Or because those nations are so stacked?

This is very simple.

You are really, really clutching at straws and clinging on for dear life, with such poor attempts to condesend Messi's international achievements whilst exaggerating Ronaldo's.
Saying that winning for Portugal is more difficult than doing it for a team that is a regular contender in every major international trophy is not clutching at straws…it’s a literal fact.

Unless you choose to ignore it or simply don’t understand the game.

If it wasn’t for emi argentina lose to the Dutch and to France. That save in the 120 minute won argentina the world cup.
Messi winning the world cup has really turned Ronaldo fanboys unhinged, hasn't it?
If not for Eder, Ronaldo wouldn't have a Euro, if we are to use your logic.

But in terms of individual performances, Ronaldo's world cup career is over and he was never able to do it t the highest level of international football (0 KO stage goals and assists to Messi's 11).

It’s not Messi that should be thanking him. It’s the other Argentinians. Messi and Martínez have both played a massive part in them winning this tournament. But your bias will not see that.
Actually I agree with you. I think Messi was brilliant and since argentina won he deserved the golden ball.

You seem to struggle distinguishing between fact and fiction. Playing no part in the toughest game of a tournament and having your teammates carrying you to it is much easier than winning 5 man of the match awards, and winning the golden ball en route to leading your country to a world cup.

We will definitely see another player who matches the quality of Messi, just as Messi matched Maradona, and Maradona matched Pele. That's the great thing about sport - it goes on and continues to evolve. There's plenty of talent out there.
I hope so mate, it'll suck going on several decades more without seeing a player of quality ever again.

But you may be right, we had pele, best and Maradona in that 30 year span and recently the two Ronaldo and of course Messi.

Hopefully we'll get another goat candidate in a few decades times because neither Mbappe or halland are close.

The euros and world cup are the pinnacle of the international sport and he did it.

As for Eder We won’t know what would happens if they didn’t injure Ronaldo.

regardless you are missing the point.

Here I’ll Make it simple and end this quicker.

Simple yes or no question,

winning a trophy with Argentina is easier then winning one with Portugal. If the answer yes then we have nothing to debate about.

So first off I want to congratulate Lionel Messi. Amazing achievement.

Secondly I admire your attempt of trying to throw a jab, it was cute. You wanted my attention so I’ll give you it for a little bit

So I will just end it with this because it’s very simple and not even questionable.

I know it’s Messi’s day but this is unquestionable. Ronaldo won the second most important international trophy with a country that has zero international history.

This World Cup was only the third time Portugal ever got passed the R16. Ronaldo is the first Portuguese player to ever played passed the R16. That’s how little history we have.

What Ronaldo did for Portugal will always mean more then what Messi did for Argentina because Portugal before Ronaldo won nothing and achieved nothing.

Argentina has won a lot before Messi and they will continue to win a lot without him. That to me is the difference.

So denouncing him the “goat “ because of this win is honestly silly.

Winning a World Cup is a lottery on if you are born into one of the sports super powers. Argentine made 2 of the last 3 World Cup finals. Portugal have only made it passed the R16 3x…in every WC ever.

Put Ronaldo in the teams argentina and Messi have had and their is a very much likely possibility they have more copas and would have won the World Cup earlier.

I’ll let you celebrate your day because now you can attempt to finally say Messi surpassed Ronaldo but just had to give you that lovely dose of reality. You can tell how excited you were because you felt the need to gloat.

Enjoy the win, congrats to Lionel Messi, congrats to Argentina, and congrats to every Argentine in the forum. Argentina were one of the favorites to win the tournament and they proved it. Fantastic team and well done !
Please, take the day off.

Also I didn’t reply all day to allow you guys to enjoy the win and avoid an exhausting debate.

But you have posters who try to make stupid jabs at people to get a reaction.

Wrong. The world cup is the pinnacle. Ronaldo wasn't nearly good enough to do it.

And his performances at the KO stages have been abysmal (0 goals and assists in his career).

You're right. We have nothing to talk about

You need to know when to quit. Does this not get taxing for you? How long have you debated this, 10/11/12 years?

Nah. Give Messi the stacked team from 04-08 and a manager willing to play him. They win something. He also wins 2020 and 2022 with that stacked Portugal team..... Euro 2016 was a fluke, so who knows on that one?

More physical in time of Maradona yes. In time of Pele (especially the first two WC), definitely not, it was not physical at all, and video footage looks like two Sunday league teams playing.

Players are far fitter now than back then. Put someone like Haaland in that era, and players would bounce and fall on their arses when near him.
How was football more physical in Maradona's time but not in Pelé's? Compared to today? Football is far more physical now than it's ever been. If you mean in terms of what was allowed, then consider that Pelé was deliberately injured in two consecutive World Cups

One of your guys is literally the one who started a debate. But sure.

and this debate will continue long after we’re dead. They shared an era. Only people of ignorance would say other wise.

But Messi is and was always better. He has all the accolades in his favor. Only ignorance would say otherwise, to quote your words.

Awesome so you danced around the question so I’ll ask it again.

Is winning a trophy for a country with multiple copa América wins and world cups wins easier than winning with Portugal?

If your answer is no (which it might be because you just don’t want to be wrong) then you should probably take up a new sport.

Yes, I can see it: "Yeah that Messi guy was pretty good, but how about that other player, who couldn't register a single goal or assist in the WC knockouts? And who won two (soon to be three, I'd wager) less Ballon d'Ors?" "Oh good point, that Messi guy also never managed to watch Eder win the EC from the sidelines."

You're free to repeat yourself like a parrot all you want. Winning the world cup the way Messi has (needing to put up clutch oerofmance in the KO stages match after match) is infinitely more difficult than Ronaldo winning anything at international level.

Right back at you. Because if you're still struggling, football isn't for you.

And yet you keep reacting, time after time. Stop taking the bait and focus on something other than Ronaldo/Messi. You're like a broken record at this stage and it can't be good for your mental health. Please, give it a rest.

Messi would never win a euro with Portugal that’s the difference. Ronaldo in argentina would have multiple.

levels.

Guys you roped @SportingCP96 into the thread by tagging and calling him out now you are asking him to be quiet

He's obviously proud of the Euro win and values it very highly as a Portuguese person, let's not discount that.

You can console yourself with all the hypotheticals you like...but Messi has done it on the highest level of international football..the world cup. Your hero hasn't.

Those are the only facts.

That’s awkward considering Ronaldo is ahead of both but nice
I possibly respect your opinion since like I said above everyone has the opinion about goat conversation. At the moment, You should probably calm a bit down, mate. Your emotions are leading everything now. Calm a bit down and everything will be better.

This is what I'm getting at. Surely this constant debate, the same points, the same arguments has a toll on your mental health. Just don't think you should rise to it @SportingCP96

Find it quite ironic that you say this after your Euro 2016 run.

Maybe you'll see the light when you guys win a world cup, cos I reckon you'll get one within the next 3.
