I was surprised that they were planning to actually kill her. Thought it would be more of a blackmail thing. Also surprised she died in that way after essentially eliminating all the threats. Thought overall it was an average ending. Good series in all though. Much better than the first for me.
Yeah I too was thinking somewhere along the lines of a blackmail scheme. I would have thought the gays were filming her all coked up having sex with the mafioso and use that to either straight up blackmail her for money or maybe even use a sex tape as evidence for the husband to nullify any prenup, but the showrunners decided to go way darker.

The way Tanya died in the end was a little stupid. Could she not have gone to a lower deck on the yacht or in the water before climbing onto the smaller boat, why'd she have to jump all the way from the top deck? Other than that I really liked the finale, the tension building during the episode was really nice and all the plot lines had satisfactory endings.
Shoutout to the British lad for accurately portraying the average Brit abroad so well.
Yeah the acting was on point for that one.

Was his character Jack actually the nephew of Quentin, and thus fecking his uncle, or was he just some random guy pretending to be related so he'd have a reason for being there and they'd have an easier time taking Portia out of the equation?

I don't think Jack and Quentin are actually related. I think Jack owes Quentin for getting him out of a very bad situation (perhaps involving Mafia?). Jack therefore does whatever Quentin wants him to do. Part of that was taking Portia away so that Tanya could be dealt with. I'm not sure what the plan for Portia was when she returned to the hotel though? Jack seems to indicate that they're planning on taking her out as well.

Thought all in all it was kinda anti-climatic but appropriate. The story telling and situational humour is what the programme is about rather than the big reveal.

Thought the best ending of all the story lines though was with Ethan fecking Daphne and Daphne’s kinda knowing that would resolve his situation and get the chip off his shoulder.

Yeah, that was good. Daphne was a great character.

Not 100% gone on the Tonya ending, beyond the shock factor of it, it was really silly. Surprised they did kill her off but I'm not sure where they could've gone with the character anyway.

Season one was better, for me, but two was still was a lot of fun.

Tanya's character was always a bit silly and slapstick, making that ending pretty perfect for me.

I really enjoyed this season, though think the first was slightly better. None of the characters matched the hilarity of the first's hotel manager or douche-y husband (Jack Lacy), with their final scene still one of the best things I've seen in years.

Having gone to all this trouble to scam her, I think I would've remembered to hide the photo of Greg.

Her whole storyline didn't really make much sense. I mean, the mafia guy could've just come on the boat with them and killed her in the middle of the ocean rather than waiting until they were practically back at the hotel. What was the point of him going there ahead of them and then back to the boat to do it rather than just.. going on the boat? And why'd they bother throwing her such a big extravagant party with so many guests who could see her in all their company? There were way better opportunities to off her.

I believe Daphne fecked Ethan to get back at Harper rather than her husband. She is used to Cameron cheating and we saw her reaction to that when Harper told her about the sex workers. This time she seemed to take it more personally due to being slighted by someone she thought she had befriended. So she used her goto move to make herself feel better.

I didn't even connect the dots regardring Daphne and Ethan, I just thought he embraced being a **** when he suddenly decided to feck Harper again. Now it makes a lot more sense, though

All in all another very strong season. I haven't got anything negative to say about it really.

Christ think of all the other cues you've missed in life that were even less obvious than leading someone to a secluded island after talking about getting even.

I'm thinking about all the times I've been led to secluded islands by my friends' wives. I had no idea what they were trying to do!! Now I'm totally prepeared for next time, though.

Decent finale. Portia seemed remarkably chill when hearing about Tanya. She's going to have a lot of questions to answer back in the States.

Felt like it suffered from a distinct lack of humour compared to previous eps. Can't remember if the first season's finale was as constantly dramatic and tense.

Also, was that a track from Arrival's score I heard during the fight scene between Cameron and Ethan?

Ready for the Salvatore spinoff.

I like how there isn't a lot of morality in this show, almost all of the characters are effed up in some way or another.

So pleased Albie got played, he's a bit of a nasty (and a sanctimonious) git to his dad.

Only annoyance is that it was his dad's money rather than his hard earned dough

He was a git, but his father was one too. Trying to manipulate his son into speaking to his estranged wife on his behalf. The old guy was one too. At least Albie was trying to be something different.

I think his dad actually did go through an epiphany during the holiday even if that scene at the end with 3 of them checking the girl out was a funny throwback

I thought the final episode was great. Tied up all the loose ends perfectly. It made sense that they off Tanya, rather than blackmail her, as blackmail would have left them all at risk of being exposed. If she (and her assistant) are both found dead then Gary gets his money and the gays don't have any witnesses left to worry about.

Yeah I don’t really get it either, why bother wining and dining her for the week just to kill her? Could have just done it on day one.

Anyway minor complaint, it was a solid ending. Lucia is some woman.

In real life all the bad shit from this series would happen to you without any of the immediate action that can help alleviate the pain

the girl you fancy goes off with another guy? There won't be a sexy prostitute to make you feel better

Your wife sleeps with your best friend? His wife won't shag you

Your co-worker who you fancy is actually straight and getting married? No sexy young bisexual will come and feck you

Albie's dad is the one who feels the most real. Shagged around and has nearly lost everything and feels empty without the ability to control his addiction.

I liked season 2 more. Dont get me wrong season 1 was great, especially Armond and Shane carachter but 2nd season was a lot more fun, not to mention the beautiful scenery.

Jack guy was so funny, defintion of a chav and a West Ham fan too. :D
Tanya carachter was even more hilarious this time out, some of the writing was near perfect. I like how Portia goes from getting to know her boss is dead to asking Albie his number.

I saw a lots of recaps about director making a lose end of Daphne and Ethan walk but its pretty obvious what they've been up to. In the end him and Harper are happy or seem to be.

Checking out scene at the airport was great too. Showing Albie is not a lot different than his dad and grandad.

Regarding season 1 I just love Quinn's ark, from a mobile and tablet addict to completely forgetting about it and staying at Hawaii.

Yeah agree with this. Season 2 was better but the best character over both the seasons was Armond in S1. The guy who played him was amazing. The way his whole demeanour would switch as soon as he started getting fecked up was perfect.

Haha, yes, as soon as he went on a binge there was no turning back. Great character and actor, the best one across both season for sure.
At first I was like, not the best ending but it goes along the way of rich coming to the island, fek natives' and people who work there lives directly or indirectly and then leaving home without a worry in the world. Hated how Kai's life got destroyed.
In the season 2 Mia and Lucia get their day in the sun over rich people.

The dynamics were a little bit different with Mia and Lucia as they weren't conquered natives (don't at me with Sicily was conquered in x) and it was more of a conflict between genders and sex. That said Albie could have called her bluff and been wrong, he got played but in reality 50k wasn't a big amount for his family and Lucia was probably still stuck in the same line of work after the fact until inevitably it goes wrong. To add to this, while it's shown that Alessio was part of the scam, I would be very surprised if organised crime wasn't involved. In the end does Mia really win?

Paula on the other hand I think believes that she's really part of a downtrodden class which is true to an extent but she's actually entered the elite. I think her family are at least upper class middle class and probably not too far off Olivia's in terms of wealth but Paula feels conflicted between her racial identity and her social identity. This is what causes her to betray Olivia's family while being naive to the consequences this would have.

Very well summarised. The theme of season one seemed to be about class whereas season two centred more around sex. I do like the way in both seasons you have children/teenagers at odds with the values of their parents generation whilst still seemingly happy to suckle off that same teet. It's very much of the current zeitgeist. Also for a show where 90% of the characters are pretty awful human beings it's an endlessly fascinating delve into the human psyche.

Yeah, well put. And as @CassiusClaymore different dynamics. After they would spend the money Mia and Lucia's lives wouldn't change, or at least Lucias, maybe Mia would have stayed at a bar as a piano player. :)
As for Paula I completely get her conflicts and that what she did and why, it's just that after all that she leaves leaving Kai in prison cause of her conclicts and being naive as you said.

As much as she was naïve for her part in that let's not forget Kai still had the option not to do what he did (and indeed he was shown to be conflicted about it). He can hardly pin all the blame on her.

I never read it this way. I think Daphne doesnt really give a fk about Cams cheating. She fkd the trainer and showed a picture of her kids that looked exactly like the trainer. She basically kidnapped Harper for a night and she must have known what the boys would get up to. Im pretty sure Cam knows that Daphne gets up to and vice versa. They are basically swingers but dont talk about it openly. They played them both and showed them that it can be exciting to not ask too many questions and also play yourself. They all accepted it otherwise no way they would have been friends at the end.

I'm not sure how that could have been your takeaway. You can see from her reaction any time it's brought up that she hates it. But her coping mechanism is to ignore it and get revenge by doing that herself (the trainer's kids, Ethan) rather than to leave him and lose the great life she has otherwise. She is ultimately satisfied because she knows that for every transgression from Cam, she has her own. I don't think there's any sort of "agreement" between the two that it's ok for them to cheat.

I got the impression Cam was oblivious to what Daphne does on the side, and the latter's actions were a coping mechanism as you say. Basically her way of an eye for an eye, which she accepts.
