Pressing monster. Can hold the ball and create space for others. So even if he has a weaker day in terms of finishing, he won't be useless. He also offers something different. A perfect 6 month loan.

Haha, what exactly do you base that on?

In the Premier League they have scored 4x the rate of Weghorst.

Danny Ings' has scored 25 goals off of an xG of 21 in the last 2 1/2 seasons.

Iheanacho has scored 17 goals off of an xG of 13.2 in the last 2 1/2 seasons.

Weghorst scored 2 goals off of a xG of 5 for Burnley in the Premier League.

Weghorst's barely outscored his xG in the Bundesliga, scoring 59 goals off of an xG of 57.

Look at how many strikers from the Bundesliga came to the Premier League and struggled.
He’s exactly an ETH type of target man. If he can cause a bit of hassle, good in the air and bring others into play, then as a short term option he can sit on the bench. Or would you rather have the Cameroon lad who has scored 4 goals in the desert

Anti-vax dipshit. 6'6" but shite in the air, slow but weirdly good on the deck and winning the ball back.

Burnleys finest. Absolutely screams United quality.

Yes I’m fully aware as a supporter of Chelsea I shouldn’t laugh… but I will.
I’d rather sign Weghorst than be in the complete, utter mess you guys are in all over the park.

A better option than Aboubakar but still, how fecking underwhelming. Can't wait to have new owners.

Can’t we just try to get Cavani back

With Besiktas having a buy option, this would need to be approved by them, right? Not sure why they would do it given the above. Seems to be a core player for them.

While I admire the people trying to remain optimistic & put a positive spin on this, the brutal reality is we’re bringing in a player who wasn’t good enough for a relegated Burnley side less then 12 months ago. That’s the level we’re scrambling around at. It’s an absolute disgrace that the glazers have bought the club to this. The day they finally feck off cannot come soon enough.

They can have buy option but player decides at the end. Football is not NBA

Good point, sometimes the player has negotiated a contract and approved a buy-option — but it’s of course not a given. Would expect WW to have an option to opt out if nothing else if he didn’t like it there.

Correct. They’ll probably acquiesce if 1. Weghorse plays up the fact that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for him, and (more importantly) 2. We compensate them for taking him with some sort of fee.

A 30 year old Burnley striker certainly feels right

Judging Weghorst off his Burnley days is even worse than judging Forlan off his time at United.

An absolute shithouse of a battering ram who has little ego, will do whatever it takes to win, and is fine to be an option. Allows Marcus to stay on the left and move centrally late in matches, allows Garnacho to get impactful minutes, and allows Antony and Sancho to develop slowly as needed. Martial can be babied along to accommodate his fitness.

This is filling in a gap without compromising the future. Totally fine with this.

He has pretty good numbers in Bundesliga and Turkey, awful numbers in England though.

If ten Hag wants him then bring him, he's a target man something we don't currently have. He'll surely be useful in close games against low blocks.

If we bring Felix in as well as this fella I'd not complain much, but if this is it, I'm massively disappointed. I'd rather play Joe hugill

They’re such dumb, lazy comments. And this thread is full of them.

He’s a solid striker with a good goal scoring record and offers something different. We have no money to spend given the pending sale and as a 6 month loan it’s a no-brainer.

TBF, when you are playing in a Sean Dyche Burnley team, your numbers are never going to look that extraordinary.
